Taster’s Review:
Warning: This tisane is for true maple lovers ONLY!
If you swipe the lip of the bottle clean with your finger after you’ve poured maple syrup over the pancakes, and then licked your finger, or if you’re tempted to lick your plate clean after you’ve finished the pancakes… read on. This tisane is something you MUST try!
I love maple. I am sure I’ve proclaimed that on this blog before. I’m sure I’ll probably say so again. It’s one of my favorite sweet flavors, probably #3 after chocolate and caramel.
And this tisane from Della Terra Teas is about the closest thing to real maple syrup that any tea or tisane will ever get. It tastes as though I filled the cup up half of the way full with maple syrup, and then stirred in some brewed rooibos to thin it out a bit.
I don’t even taste the rooibos much here… I do taste a slight nuttiness to the cup, but it melds together with the maple notes so well that it’s not really distinguishable as rooibos to me. It just tastes like hints of toasty, nutty flavor that add to the warm taste that I get from this maple-y delicious tisane.
I love that the base used here is not just oxidized rooibos, but also green rooibos and honeybush which gives the overall cup a more pleasing dimension. I taste notes that are not definitively maple notes in this, but it’s difficult to describe the overall taste, because really, what I taste more than anything is MAPLE! It is warm, luscious and very sweet. Just like real maple syrup.
So, if you do not like sweet drinks … don’t try this. If you do not like maple … don’t try this. But if you have a sweet tooth and you love MAPLE like I do, you MUST try this.
And don’t forget about our Della Terra Teas’ 12 Day of Christmas Tea Sampler Giveaway that is going on right now! Enter for your chance to win!
The Season of Giveaways, Take 2
This giveaway is now closed – but don’t despair! Another contest will be coming up soon! Keep watching for more details!
Our last giveaway was so incredibly successful that I thought that maybe we should embrace the season of giving by hosting a Season of Giveaways here on SororiTea Sisters! (Heck, maybe we’ll even make this an annual event!)
So, we have other Giveaways that we’ll be hosting for the next month or so – and these will ROCK your TEACUPS! (I was going to say Rock your Socks but that just didn’t make sense. What do socks have to do with tea. Nothing. So, even though Rock your Teacups may not sound as hip and cool as Rock your Socks … I think that the crowd that reads this blog would rather have their teacups rocked than their socks rocked)
And one tea company that totally ROCKS my teacup is Della Terra Teas! Their teas are delicious! They have one of my very favorite chocolate teas, an amazing Chocolate Pumpkin Tea, and a stellar Oatmeal Raisin Cookie tea … just to name a few!
How about something totally exciting for this time of year? How about a 12 Days of Christmas Tea sampler from Della Terra Teas?

Taster’s Review:
I am so happy that I ordered some of Della Terra Teas’ Eight Candles blend! Their homage to the celebration of the Season of Lights.
Have you ever had a tea that left you speechless? This is my all time favorite flavored tea. Now keep in mind it is difficult for me to love one tea over another. It is almost like choosing a favorite child. Regardless, if I could only choose one flavored tea to consume for the rest of my life it would be a very close tie between this and Strawberry Zabaglione from 52Teas. But you see, they are on totally different flavor spectrums, so you see my dilemma, its not easy to choose. Before trying this tea, it would have been a lot easier, but now I am torn. However this review is all about Eight Candles from Della Terra Teas so lets get back to that!
This tea is THE most marshmallowy tea I have ever sipped, the caramel is perfection, its like someone made a caramelized melted marshmallow on a stick. We all know everything is excellent when served “on a stick”.
Now just a little tip here, let this tea cool a bit before sipping, once a little cooler the true beauty of this tea explodes. Speaking of beauty, this is one of the prettiest teas ever. A black tea backdrop with shiny gold balls, blue and white stars, it quite the eye-pleaser and very festive! If I were serving this tea at a party I would put out a small bowl of this tea loose for all to oh and ah over, and of course to sniff! It has such a pleasing aroma in dry form. When dry it has mostly an aroma of vanilla, but don’t let that fool you! Once steeped it is caramelized marshmallow all the way.
I would also like to speak to the sweetness of this tea. I am not positive exactly how it is sweetened. Perhaps the shiny gold sugar balls are the only sweetener, or perhaps there is something more added, but whatever it is, it is really done perfectly. You would truly think that you are just getting the sweetness from the caramel and marshmallow itself, with nothing extra added. It has absolutely no artificial or lingering sweetener flavor other than the sweetness the caramel and marshmallow themselves provide.
For me tea often evokes a feeling or memory. This tea makes me think back about all the fire pits during the holidays that my family has huddled around together with friends, either sipping hot cocoa, or toasting marshmallows, or both. If only I had this tea to sip back then, but now this tea can inspire making new memories!

Taster’s Review:
Pumpkin Pie. How do you improve upon this classic Thanksgiving dessert? Add chocolate, of course!
This is really yummy. I love that I taste pumpkin prominently in this cup – so often it seems that pumpkin flavor is elusive at best with some pumpkin pie flavored teas. But here, the pumpkin is strong – but not so strong that it is all I taste. I also taste a touch of pumpkin pie spice, and CHOCOLATE! And after a few minutes of letting the tea cool slightly, I also notice just a hint of buttery pie crust … yum!
And while the flavor of the black tea is a little less prominent than I’d like it to be for a flavored black tea, this is still really so yummy! I do taste the tea, but it IS a bit obscured by the stronger flavors of pumpkin, spice, and chocolate.
Interestingly, the way the spices are put together in this blend, it sort of gives the chocolate a sort of chocolate liqueur type of taste … as if this chocolate pumpkin pie were made using a chocolate liqueur like Godiva’s Chocolate Liqueur. I’m not big on alcoholic beverages – but that stuff is AMAZING! – and I love how that sort of flavor sort of comes alive in this cup for me. It’s like having some Godiva’s without having to pay the price tag of it. Plus, it’s in a much more consumable format for me – TEA!
I really am enjoying this tea. An excellent tea for this time of year … or any time of year really!

Taster’s Review:
The first thing I noticed is that this tea has a sturdy base aroma. All too often flavored teas tend to cover up the aroma and flavor of the base itself which sometimes can be good when I want something quite flavored but other times it is nice to have a lightly flavored tea that allows the base to come through in a bold way.
Della Terra has made me believe that blackberry and black tea were just meant to be married in this delicious brew. They have managed to masterfully create a stunning blackberry tea!
The raspberry is present but lurking in the background offering a slight tartness that gives a nice wake me up feeling.
The blackberry offers a sweeter flavor but a very naturally sweet taste which is not sappy nor does it give any odd after taste.
The base is BOLD, quite bold and I cannot wait to have this iced, or to cold brew it!
If I had to hand over some teas to the name brand companies that you find at your local grocery store, as an example of a well blended flavored tea, this would make the cut!
Its perfectly balanced, not over done, melds a great base with great flavors yet keeps its basic simplicity.
Della Terra has also quickly become one of my steadfast suppliers for great teas, especially flavored teas. Their customer service is top notch, they are actively involved on their facebook page, and they frequently run contests, and drawings for free samples, and account credits. Also their web site is easy to navigate and I love that they list any allergens within their teas on each tea’s description!
Back to this tea though .. This could easily fit into my morning rotation as it is bold enough as a wake up cup and the fruity flavors are understated so its not so much one that I would seek out as a dessert tea.
I just really appreciate that this is a tea that is what it states without trying to play dress up and over do it.
