Buttered Spiced Rum Green Tea from 52Teas

Gentle, warm, and soothing are 3 words I would use to describe Buttered Spiced Rum Green Tea from 52 Teas. Oddly…these are the same 3 words that 52 Teas used to describe this tea, too!

Organic ingredients include green tea, oranges, cinnamon, ginger, clove, allspice, nutmeg and natural flavors. 52 Teas doesn’t mess around! At least they don’t mess around with top quality ingredients. They might just have a little TOO much fun when it comes to blending the flavors but there’s NOTHING wrong with that, is there? No. I didn’t think so.

As much as I hate the phrase ‘mouth feel’ I can’t think of another adjective at the moment to describe the way the buttery-goodness of the green tea base swirls around in my mouth. The spices aren’t overly loud but act more like a merry-go-round with the buttery green tea. The citrus notes juice it up nicely, too!

This is delicious hot or cold! A flavored green I would drink time and time again.

Description

Hot Buttered Rum is a traditional winter drink – something that will help warm you up when it’s cold outside. As I’ve often mentioned, I’m not much of a drinker of alcohol – tea is my drink of choice – but I still enjoy the idea of a warm, soothing cup of hot buttered rum – so I decided to create a tea that brought those flavors to life while still enjoying my favorite drink.

I chose a buttery Chinese Sencha as my base because I felt that the natural buttery tones of the tea would highlight the ‘buttered’ part of the buttered rum. Then I added a few spices: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. The spices aren’t overwhelming because I wanted a gentle, warm spice flavor but not something that would overpower the flavors of creamy butter and rum. A couple of the recipes that I found online for Hot Buttered Spiced Rum called for orange zest – instead, I added some dried orange segments. The orange flavor is delicate here, just a touch of orange to brighten the cup. As I already mentioned, my goal was to highlight the buttered rum flavor so I didn’t want those flavors overwhelmed by other profiles in this blend.

The result is a gentle, warm, soothing beverage. Something that makes me want to curl up next to a crackling fire and read a good book. This one’s really nice!

Cache Cache from Lupicia. . . . .

“CACHE-CACHE” means “hide-and-seek” in French. I’m horrible at French so I’m grateful that I could find more about this on the Lupicia Site. Cache Cache from Lupicia is a tea where various flavors are hidden and found. Ingredients include Black tea, Sugar, Orange flower, Pink pepper, Artificial color, Gum arabic, Flavors.

I remember back in 2014 – having tea envy – because LiberTeas sampled and reviewed this one back then. I’m excited it was available once again this past holiday season and I was able to get my hands on it, too!

There seemed to be so many different flavor layers to this tea. I was able to pick up on buttery notes – but also creamy and smooth, too. Just when I thought it was vanilla – the sugar flavor popped in to play. There were subtle spice notes throughout the sip as well. I couldn’t really put my finger (or tongue) on exactly what the spice was that I was tasting. Was it clove? Cardamom? Pink Pepper? What ever it was – it was necessary for the overall flavor profile.

This one is special. I wish it was available all year round. I’m thinking it would be a hit – and NOT just around the holidays!

Winter Cabin Chai from 52Teas. . . . .

Ahhhhh! A Black Tea/Honeybush Blend from 52 Teas? HECK YEAH – I’m excited!

I’m excited for Winter Cabin Chai from 52 Tea for many reasons…one…because I was getting low on spicy black teas…two…because it’s a blended black tea and honeybush base…three…it’s a flavored chai…and four…it contains marshmallow root! The marshmallow root is GLORIOUS! It’s a natural, vegan ingredient that gives it the delicious marshmallow aroma and taste without the gelatin based junk food that you buy in stores!

It’s spicy because of the traditional chai-like spices but it also has a sweetness to it, too! The vanilla provides a creamy-smooth end note and walks hand-in-hand with the spices for the perfect yin and yang.

This was so nicely done and so impressive that I was able to get 2 solid infusions out of it. The spices are strong and the vanilla and marshmallow are sweet and smooth. The honeybush helps sweeten it too. The black tea is a medium strength black tea and it’s tasty!

I’m liking everything about this flavored chai! The only thing I won’t like is when my stash is gone.

Description

I’m not exactly sure how to explain my inspiration behind this tea except to say that I wanted to create something that evoked thoughts of a little cabin out in the woods during a winter snowstorm. Inside the cabin, it’s warm and toasty, there’s a fire cracking in the fireplace and you’re – yes you! Not me, I’d prefer no snowstorm please. Since I’m the one writing the story, you’ll be the character in the story, m-kay? You’re curled up in front of the fireplace, wrapped in a warm, fuzzy blanket and you’re roasting marshmallows. I wanted a chai that captured that story.

I wanted something warm and spicy but also sweet and toasty. Something that hints of slightly charred marshmallows while still letting you know that it’s a chai you’re sipping. I wanted the spices to be in the forefront but not so aggressive that the delightful roasted marshmallow flavor is overpowered.

And I think I’ve accomplished what I set out to do – try it yourself and see if you agree!

Persian Plum Rose Black from Blossom. . . . .

I’m TOTALLY LOVING THIS TEA! So much so that I slapped it on one of my personal TOP TEN LISTS even before I gave it a proper review!

The tea I’m referring to is Persian Plum Rose Black from Blossom! It smells AMAZING as soon as you open the bag! I ALMOST didn’t want to infuse it – it was THAT amazingly-scented!

But I did – and I’m glad I did! It was incredible! Persian Plum Rose Black from Blossom is an exotic black tea blend with sultry notes of plum and rose petals, and a pleasant finish of cardamom spice. Organically Cultivated Ingredients – to boot!

The Plum was more like a Sugar Plum…but naturally-so! The cardamom was of gentle to gentle-medium on the flavor scale and done to perfection! The rose gave it a subtle floral-cream flavor to even everything out. This is terrific hot but dandy cold, too! I always drink my tea straight-up with nothing added but I could only assume it would be just as special with rock sugar. I’m thinking it would be the equivalent of a Rose Marzipan but with plum!

This is VERY delicious, memorable, and amazing! I’m totally in LOVE with Persian Plum Rose Black from Blossom!!

Rich Assam Black Tea Signature Collection from Wissotzky Tea. . . . .

Sometimes I’m Lazy. Yes. That is a complete sentence. Sometimes I feel like I don’t have to explain myself on that because I think no matter how driven or inspired anyone can be – anyone can still be lazy every once and a while.

Rich Assam Black Tea Signature Collection from Wissotzky Tea has been my lazy tea as of late. I purchased it prior to Christmas while shopping for someone else. It was on sale for $1.99 at a local TJ Maxx. I see on the company website that it sells for $4.99. I feel I got a great bargain. Even at $4.99 for 16 silky pyramid tea bags I was totally ok with the price tag. WHY? Because it was one of the stronger black teas I have had in a tea bag in a great while.

It stands up to it’s name – RICH ASSAM. It’s powerful, bold, rich, smooth, fairly malty, a bit brash, and a tad astringent – but all in good ways!

Regardless if you are in a rush and don’t have time to infused loose leaf tea leaves or if you are feeling lazy THIS tea is one I would keep on hand as often as possible. It’s a good old stand by in a bag. Rich Assam Black Tea Signature Collection from Wissotzky Tea is a winner in my book!
