Yerba Mate fuels your muscles and nourishes your body with 15 amino acids, 24 vitamins and minerals including Vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, Niacin (B3), B5, B Complex. Natural phytochemicals stimulate your immune system and boost your metabolism.

ingredients: yerba mate, apple, cinnamon, natural apple & cinnamon flavors.

Taster’s Review:

This is a very delicious blend.  I was a little scared to try it, to be honest.  Teaquilibrium calls this their “Energizing Sports Tea” and that translated to me as “health food” which… translates to me as “yuck.”

But, so much for that!  This is really good!

The apple and cinnamon are very fragrant, and I can smell them as the cup sits in front of me and the aroma wafts from the cup.  It smells like apple pie!  Not a smell that you think of when you think “Energizing Sports Tea”!

And the flavor is just as abundant as the scent.  The apple and cinnamon are in good balance.  The cinnamon is not that hot, spicy cinnamon, it is a sweeter tasting cinnamon that accents the apple very nicely.  The apple tastes sweet and smooth.  It’s a bit like a lightly spiced apple cider!

This is the first Yerba Maté blend that I can recall tasting and not immediately identifying as Yerba Maté based only on the taste.   It does not possess that rather pungent, earthy taste that is so synonymous with Yerba Maté (at least, for me).  That is not to say that I cannot taste the Yerba Maté base, because it’s there, it’s just not that bracingly apparent Yerba Maté taste.

I really like this.  It is one that would work nicely as a iced tea as well as a hot one, and it has a certain autumnal charm to it which makes it very lovely for this time of year.

This is the first tea that I’ve had the opportunity to try from Teaquilibrium, and based upon this very positive experience, it shall not be my last!

Organic Green Tea Ginseng Maté from Maté Factor

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green Tea & Yerba Maté

Where to Buy:  Maté Factor

Company Description:

Ingredients: American Ginseng root, Fresh Green Yerba Mate, Premium Japanese Sencha Green Tea, Echinacea Angustifolia Root and Echinacea Purpurea leaf.

Our most powerful tea ever.

One taste will enlighten you to the delicate but powerful blend of this tea.

Taster’s Review:

I was a little nervous to try this blend.  I’m not crazy about the flavor of echinacea or ginseng; I find the flavor of these two herbs to be rather off-putting.  So, needless to say, I don’t usually select teas with either of these ingredients, and this particular blend has both!

Fortunately, however, neither of these herbs presents a strong flavor to the cup.  The strongest taste to the cup is the green Yerba Maté, which is earthy and vegetative.  Less than a year ago, I would have told you that I don’t care for green Yerba Maté because of its strong earthy and vegetative taste, but I really like Maté Factor’s green Yerba Maté!  I contribute this change of taste preference to the fact that Maté Factor is dedicated to providing the freshest Yerba Maté possible.  It isn’t smoked or aged Yerba Maté, and I’ve come to realize that this really makes a difference!

I can also taste the fresh, bright flavor of the Japanese Sencha in this blend. It lends a sweetness to the blend that is distinctively green tea.

Because of the green tea in this blend, I don’t recommend bringing the water to a boil like you might normally do when brewing Yerba Maté.  This may scorch the tea leaves and cause the tea to taste bitter.  Instead, I pull my kettle just as the water is producing a good amount of steam and there are tiny bubbles beginning to rapidly form at the base of the kettle – rapidly forming but not yet rising to the surface.

As the tea cools slightly, more of the Ginseng and Echinacea tastes come through, but, surprisingly, it isn’t off-putting because the flavor of the Yerba Maté seems to offset it just “so” and gives it a very appealing taste.  That being said, I think this tea is much tastier when it’s hot, served with a drizzle of honey.

I’ve tried quite a few teas from Maté Factor now, and I’ve been very impressed.  If you’ve been interested in trying Yerba Maté, Maté Factor is a good place to start.  If you’ve tried Yerba Maté in the past and found it not to your liking, I suggest trying it again – but this time try a Maté Factor Yerba Maté!  You may just change your mind about Yerba Maté.  I know I have!

Tasters Review:

BURST is an Energizing Sports Tea from Teaqualibrium that I recently enjoyed!

It smells and tastes like orange citrus but when I saw that it didn’t have orange or citrus in it I was a little surprised, actually.  Perhaps it was word association or because of the label or something that made me think citrus…not sure!  BUT shortly after I started sipping this I did pick up on the apple and cinnamon, too!  Not overly-so on the cinnamon but it is tasty regardless!

This is nice hot or cold.

Tasters Review:

Well, I like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and I like Pirate Booty so when I tried Pirate Tea from Design A Tea I was happy to say I liked that, too!  Actually I more than liked it…I’ll admit…I LOVED it!

It smells like Pineapple and chai more pineapple than chai…I, personally, LOVED this about it!  This tea infuses really dark and really fast!

The taste is AWESOME!!  I can safely say this is my FAVORITE Chai to date!!  The flavoring is wonderful! The spices are mixed in nicely underneath.

Pirate Tea from Design A Tea is the complete package if you are on teas that favor pineapple!  And a nice, true, delicious pineapple – not that artificial tasting stuff!
