Disclaimer: I did not add pumpkin puree to my tea. While I found the thought of doing so very intriguing, I simply did not have the time to run out and get some. However, I did add pumpkin flavored agave. So I am crossing my fingers and crossing my toes that I enjoy this blend without the recommended-by-the-company pumpkin puree! I will say that I was a little annoyed with the fact that there was no pumpkin flavor in this tea, but that you had to add pumpkin puree. I do find it creative, but not everyone has a chance to run out and get that and I wish that there had been some pumpkin flavoring in there or pumpkin pieces or something else other than relying on the customer to go out and get pumpkin puree.
That said, the smell of this tea was pumpkin pie spice. I could totally pick out that there were all those spices in there. I have made pumpkin pie a lot in my life (pumpkin is one of my favorites) and I can pick out the spice blend from a mile away. The steeped liquid- as soon as I smelled it its almost like I was transported back to my childhood on Thanksgiving morning. My mom baking pumpkin pie and apple pie, my childish excitement over the day ahead. Just yum!
So, I steeped this for about 4 minutes and added pumpkin flavored agave and a splash of milk. This tea really was a nice treat! It had quite an interesting flavor to it. Im now curious to use pumpkin puree. I did, however, enjoy the pumpkin agave although I may have added a little too much because it was slightly over-sweet, but that made it all the more like a dessert. The pumpkin pie spices were really delicious and the black tea was smooth and creamy. I think I was close to drinking pumpkin pie in a glass and if I had listened to the company’s recommendation of pumpkin puree and whipped cream it honestly would have been pie in a glass! This would be a wonderful fall treat. Definitely recommend!

Tupelo Honey Chai from Tupelo Honey Tea
One of my coworkers (a true blessed angel upon this earth) brought in doughnuts this morning, so I decided I’d round out the experience with a Brand New Tea! Heck yes. Good day.
Today’s breakfast pastry accompaniment comes from Tupelo Honey Teas. This company is in the same area as my in-laws — a little village you might have heard of — Pittsburgh, PA. They’ve got a football team. I hear it’s pretty good.
You’d think that football people and tea people are different, but apparently not, because Tupelo has a Yinzer Line that includes a Steelers tea . I might have to pick some of this up for my mother-in-law.
The tea I’m specifically trying today is the Honey Chai.
This one’s calibrated to be less aggressive than normal chai, so it can be steeped without the aid of milk. I have, accordingly, not added any milk.
Conclusion: it’s great! I usually think chai tries too hard, but this one’s definitely a milder version, as promised. It’s sweet and tasty without grabbing the back of my throat and throttling it. It tastes like a gingerbread cookie! I could definitely see this one making its way into my regular rotation.
Yinz will probably like it, too. You’ll wave your Terrible Towels in happiness.

The Bold Scotsman from Tupelo Honey Teas
The Bold Scotsman from Tupelo Honey Teas is said to pay homage to The Outlander Series Books and Characters. I have to admit I haven’t read them but I will tell you what I think about this tea.
It’s not the smokiest of smoky teas but there is still a bit of smoke, indeed! I’m assuming that the smokiness of the Lapsand Souchong was knocked down a bit by the addition of the Assam, Kenyan, and Keemun or maybe it was just because of the ratios used by each of the 4 black tea bases. What ever the case this blended black tea base is really fabulous!
Just because the Lapsang Souchong isn’t the prominent flavor here doesn’t mean this tea isn’t bold. It’s just a different kind of bold. In addition to the slightly smoky flavors I can also pick up on crusty and fruity notes, too! This is one of those teas that makes me say “YUM” out loud while sitting in an empty room by myself. The Bold Scotsman from Tupelo Honey Teas is one of those teas that makes you pause and think of the multiple layers of flavor it leaves dancing in your mouth. This one goes on my RECOMMENDED list!
