Lemon Sorbetti from Tea Forte

Tea Type: Green Tea

Where To Buy: Tea Forte

Product Description:

Organic green tea paired with fragrantly fresh citrus and the sweetness of wildflower honey. A delicious taste of desert any time of the day.

Tasters Review:

Lemon Sorbetti just ‘sounded’ interesting!  And it’s ORGANIC!  YAY!  AND…it’s part of a tea sampler from Tea Forte…double YAY!

The aroma was a smooth lemon…much like a lemon meringue pie from a distance.  The flavor was lovely.  The sencha is a bit on the mellow side but it’s very clean and the lemon is the headliner here, but, the lemon isn’t overly loud and it’s not puckery…it’s soothing!  It has hint of honey and flowers underneath, too!  Nice touch!

This is nice hot or cold!

I did a great 2nd steep on this one and could taste the sencha a bit more on the end of the sip on to the after taste more on the 2nd steep.  This is very tasty!

Forté Breakfast from Tea Forté

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  Tea Forté

Product Information:

A robust full-bodied cup with a concentrated character of malt and deep undertones that welcome a bit of milk and sugar. Satisfying and delicious, this tea is a great breakfast cup that can be enjoyed throughout the day.

Taster’s Review:

This is a very pleasant breakfast tea.  This single estate Assam tea is a surprising one.  It is bold and malty (no surprise there) but there is less of a bitter undertone to this Assam (surprise!) and less astringency to this than in a typical Assam (another surprise!)

The taste and texture of this Forté Breakfast is very rich.  It would take to the additions of milk and honey very well, but it is also quite delicious without them.  It is a strong brew, but would you want anything less from a breakfast tea?

The flavor is robust and malty and it has that pleasant, biscuit-y tone to it that reminds me of freshly baked bread.  It is incredibly satisfying.   It is invigorating, and has the gusto I need to get me going in the morning!  Delicious!

Apricot Amaretto Tea from Tea Forte

Tea Type: Rooibos/Honeybush Blend

Where To Buy: Tea Forte

Product Description:

Description: A double delight of sweet apricot and juicy peach with nuanced notes of almond, artfully evoking Saronno, Italy, the birthplace of amaretto.

Ingredients: organic honeybush, organic rooibos, organic marigold flowers, natural flavors

Tasters Review:

I really enjoyed Apricot Amaretto from Tea Forte…both hot and cold…I think the new Herbal Retreat offerings are more my speed!   At least the offerings without Hibiscus that is…and even some with Hibiscus, I suppose!  More on that in future reviews!  The Hibiscus/other ingredient ratio is more pleasing to my palate (as many of you know I’m not usually into overly tarty teas or tisanes).

This is WYSIWYG…Apricot and Amaretto sums it up nicely!  I’m appreciating the Honeybush/Rooibos blends very much – thanks Tea Forte!  Two thumbs up on this one!

Cherry Cosmo from Tea Forté

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Fruit/Herbal Tisane

Where to Buy:  Tea Forté

Product Description:

The deliciously relaxing taste of sweet plump cherries with a fragrant delighting of hibiscus blossoms and faint whispers of raspberry. Your purchase helps protect fragile ecosystems.

Ingredients – organic rosehips, organic hibiscus, organic apple pieces, organic raspberries, natural flavors

Taster’s Review:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.  I’m not wild about hibiscus.  However, I do often find hibiscus-y blends that are quite tasty.  This Cherry Cosmo is one such example.

The hibiscus here not only gives the cup some much needed texture, but together with the apple, it provides a good background flavor for the sweet fruit notes.  The cherry really pops in this blend, and I think that is due in part to the tart hibiscus flavor.

The sip starts out with a sweet-tart cherry taste, reminding me a bit of a cherry sour ball.  About mid-sip, I begin to notice the background notes of hibiscus and apple, and the softer raspberry flavor weaves its way into the sip right at the finish.  The finish is tart with a nice sweet fruit flavor lingering in the aftertaste.

Overall, this is a tasty tisane.  I like that it’s a little sweet, and not too tart.   I like it hot or cold.  And because it’s naturally caffeine free, it is a refreshing, relaxing tea that can be enjoyed any time of the day.

Chamomile Citron from Tea Forté

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Herbal Tisane

Where to Buy:  Tea Forté

Product Description:

A calming Egyptian chamomile blended with a melody of fruits and herbs. Chamomile flowers, rose hips impart an enticing balance of tart and sweet. Aromatic Thai Lemongrass adds depth to this soothing, citrusy infusion.

Taster’s Review:

I received one of these “single steeps” along with my KATI cup, but I have held off on trying it until now.  That’s just the way I am when it comes to chamomile blends – I have a mental “preset” that tells me that if it has chamomile in it, I probably won’t like it. But, truth be told, I actually have liked more chamomile blends than I’ve disliked over the last couple of years, and I am really enjoying this one, too.

I must admit that I find the name of the tea to be somewhat misleading, because I thought that there would be citron fruit in this blend, but according to the ingredient list, there is not. That being said, I am still finding this to be a tasty, soothing blend.

The chamomile actually starts out as almost an afterthought in terms of flavor for this blend.  By about mid-cup, I can taste the apple-like notes of the chamomile.  It doesn’t taste too floral or pollen-y, but it does have a hint of honey-esque flavor and that distinct apple tone.

The peppermint is a strong note in this blend but I am not finding it to be overwhelmingly minty.  It is more like a cool crispness with subtle mint tones.  I suspect the reason for the lack of minty flavor has something to do with the licorice root – because these two meld together quite seamlessly, creating a flavor that is not quite as sharp as licorice and not quite as minty as peppermint, and yet capturing the cool, crisp sweetness of these two ingredients quite nicely.

The lemongrass and lemon verbena bring the citrus-y tones to the cup without creating a flavor that is too sour.  It is more like a sweet lemon-y flavor with just a hint of tartness.  Even the hibiscus – one of my least favorite herbs that is found in far too many tisanes – is not too strong here and doesn’t affect the flavor too much.

I am surprised at how much I actually like this tisane, and even more surprised at how well it steeped in my KATI cup, as I expected some of the smaller particles in the blend to fall through the fine mesh of the strainer, but there was relatively little sediment settled at the bottom of the cup.  Overall, I’m quite pleased!
