Law school has meant no time and not much spare money. That means that not only have I not had a lot of time to write reviews but I haven’t really been buying tea. So, even if I wanted to write a review, a lot of my teas are so old that I don’t think my reviews would have been fair assessments of the teas. However, like so many of you, I am stuck at home riding out this coronavirus storm which means my schedule has just opened up. Plus, a wonderful friend of mine has shared plenty of teas with me and I have splurged a little so I also have new teas in my cupboard that I can review while they are still in their prime. One such new tea is a super cute blend from DAVIDsTEA called Unicorn Dream.
First of all, while some little girls (and boys) like princesses or mermaids, I was in the unicorn camp. Literally obsessed with unicorns. And while I am older now, I am still a unicorn fan. For my 25th birthday (a few years back now), I had a unicorn-themed sweet table complete with balloon trees. When my sister placed the order for the balloons, the party store thought she made a mistake and actually said it was for a birthday for a 2 and 5 year old, not a 25 year old. Basically, I am sharing this story to make it clear that I am 100% the target audience for this tea.
DAVIDsTEA doubles down on the unicorn fantasy with one of the prettiest blends I have seen in a while. This comes complete with gold sugar pearls, mini marshmallows, pink heart sprinkles, and pink and white unicorn sprinkles, all on top of a colorful fruity/herbal base. It has butterfly pea flowers in it too which means when it brews up, it is a lovely purple color. It really is quite awesome and would probably appeal to the kid in everyone on looks alone.
Looks aren’t everything when it comes to tea though and thankfully it delivers on flavor as well. It is meant to be cotton candy flavored tea. I like to cold brew it because in addition to a berry cotton candy flavor the comes through, it has a marshmallow fluffiness. This is honestly what I imagine a cloud would taste like in a world of unicorns. It is sweet and fruity and definitely candy-like. I might be a bit bias but I genuinely believe this is the perfect tea for any kid, whether they be a young child or a 28-year-old kid at heart like myself. It’s nostalgia in a cup and certainly a ray of sunshine in these crazy times!

Crimson Cranberry/ Tease Tea
Hibiscus. My detestable foe. Every time I try a tisane with you in it I think to myself, maybe this will be the one. But once again you are undeniable. You leave my mouth feeling dry with a weird astringent punch. Lucky for this tisane it has some redeeming points. The first is the dry smell tart, sweet, would work well as a potpourri. Next elderberry. While it probably doesn’t aid in adding a better flavor on top of the hibiscus, it does add considerable health benefits.
Sick? Grab yourself some elderberry syrup and thank me later. Whole the flavor leans more toward the hibiscus the apple does give it a bit of a smooth mouth feel. And lastly, my favorite part, the liquid color. A glorious clear, red. Somewhat ruby in color and very enjoyable to gaze at.

Heavenly Hip Hibiscus from Now Real Tea. . . .
Natural Grocers had this hibiscus herbal punch tea on sale so I just had to try it. It was mean to be as I had just been reading about all of the health benefits of hibiscus tea. Although I have had hibiscus tea, I’ve only had either straight hibiscus tea or a green tea/hibiscus combination.
This is hibiscus punch, and it has hibiscus flowers along with rose hips, lemongrass leaves, spearmint leaves, cinnamon bark, wild cherry bark, orange peel, and natural cherry flavor. All of the flavors blend really well. It sounds kind of like a strange mixture but it really works! It’s kind of tart, and a little sweet with a little touch of cinnamon.
I’m having mine as an iced tea. I tend to think of and like my punches cold. But I bet this would make a nice little evening drink to warm up and unwind. Even though it’s definitely winter weather where I live, I’ve still been enjoying this as an iced tea. But I was just thinking as I took a sip how refreshing this will be on a super hot summer day.
I find hibiscus to be really refreshing when you’re overheated. Since I’ve become a tea drinker, it’s been really interesting to learn the health benefits of different teas. Hibiscus is sooooo good for you.
Here is an article explaining some of the benefits. If you see this tea, try it. It’s really refreshing and the fact that it’s good for you makes it even better!

On the 7th Day of Christmas, 52 Teas gave to me….Crisp Cranberry Soda Green Rooibos Tea!
On the 7th Day of Christmas, 52 Teas gave to me….Crisp Cranberry Soda Green Rooibos Tea! So for this one, the smell of the dry leaf brought back memories! When I was younger my mom was really into sparkling water mixed with a splash of cranberry juice and a lime. As a little girl, I of course always wanted to copy her. This blend smells exactly like that “soda” drink tasted…down to the carbonation. Although, I’m not sure how you can “smell carbonation”, but I swear I can!
This blend is a total thirst quencher. I’m drinking it hot because I’m not very into icing my teas, but I can imagine this would be so amazing iced. I love the green rooibos base. It is lighter and not as “woody” as red rooibos. The cranberry is not super tart, but it’s still present and I feel like I can taste a little bit of lime or citrus. Then, of course, there is the “soda” aspect. If you did not tell me that this blend was meant to taste like a “soda” drink, I would still have thought it did- that is how accurate this tea portrays crisp cranberry soda. It is so crisp and it tastes so hydrating I am literally gulping it down. I really did enjoy this one and I feel like it totally represented its name 100%. It would be amazing in the summertime as an iced beverage or even as a tea-popsicle! This one is a winner for sure!
