Yunnan Black from The Little Red Cup Tea Co. . . . .

It’s been a while since I have tried a tea from The Little Red Cup Tea Co. and today I thought I would share their Yunnan Black with you!

Their Yunnan Black comes from Lincang which is just a stone’s throw from Burma and home to some of the oldest cultivated tea in the world – according to The Little Red Cup Tea Co. website and product description. The Yunnan Black Tea we are reviewing today is hand picked and tightly rolled but not rolled into balls or pearls but more of a rolled pressed leaf of sorts. The golden tipped leaves produce a deep amber hue in the cup and give off light scented notes of raisins, cocoa, and honey.

As for the taste…it’s delightful! Not only in the aroma but in the taste I could pick up on the natural raisin flavors and cocoa powder – especially if brewed dark – double the loose leaf at half the time. When double brewed I found this to be pretty hefty. It was a stronger Yunnan Black and I really liked it. I also brewed as suggested and found it just as tasty but not as brassy or brashy as the double brewed. Both attempted were successful and made me an instant fan!

Boisahabi Estate Assam SFTGFOP1 – 2015 from Capital Tea Limited. . . . .

Boisahabi Estate Assam SFTGFOP1 – 2015 from Capital Tea Limited is the tea of the moment here at Sororitea Sisters. It’s a sweetly aromatic, attractive deep brown Assam leaved tea with plenty of golden tips thrown into the mix.

According to the company’s website these leaves infuse to a rich, medium bodied, and notably malty tasting tea liquor with a clean smooth mouth feel. I agree with most of that, however, I would say that it’s more of a bolder, richer flavored Assam.

Boisahabi Estate Assam SFTGFOP1 – 2015 from Capital Tea Limited also has slightly malty flavors with a subtle nod to dark chocolate. On the end sip on to the after taste I thought it was a bit peppery. The flavor lingers nicely.

I would also agree that Boisahabi Estate Assam SFTGFOP1 – 2015 from Capital Tea Limited is a marvelous morning tea. It’s a nice pick-me-up! I feel it’s one of those top notch Assam offerings especially for those who appreciate teas from different estates!

I really loved the bi or tri colored winding leaves. Taiwan Beipu Oolong Tea – Oriental Beauty – Competition Grade from Cameron Tea has a slightly herbal and floral aroma once infused. Fenhuang Oolong from FooJoy. . . . .

To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever had Oolong. Maybe once in a restaurant, but it isn’t a tea that I buy or have on hand. After tasting this Fenghuang Oolong, I realize I need to change that!

Oolong tea is lighter than black tea, but darker than green. I read up on Oolong so I could give a better review, and apparently some are sweet and fruity, some are green and fresh, and some are thick and woody with a roasted aroma. This particular Oolong is definitely woody with a roasted aroma. I had it straight, no milk or sweetener. It really didn’t need anything. It was rich and had a deep roasted flavor that I really appreciated. I seriously couldn’t get enough!

Oolong is also very good for you! I was surprised to find out that it has calcium, selenium, and also lots of vitamins! It also helps improve skin and hair health, and also aids in digestion. The more I read about Oolong tea, the more I see I’ve been depriving myself of a delicious health tonic!

I truly can’t recommend this tea enough. Oolong has caffeine and can help with mental clarity which I need on a regular basis! I really would recommend everyone to try this delicious tea. It’s both stimulating and calming. It’s the perfect beverage to warm yourself up this winter!

Georgia Mr Ramirez’s Hand-Made Black Tea from What-Cha. . . . .

There was a time when I was young, and I was afraid of straight teas. So, it just tasted like, um, tea? Without anything in it? What was the appeal?

I’ve since realized that tea by itself can taste like anything, depending on what type of tea it is, and where it was grown. Like grapes and wine, tea leaves can be altered by circumstance.

So Georgia  is a black tea. But it’s also more than a black tea, without anyone having to do anything. Which is kind of crazy.

This tea has heavy-hitting notes of fruit. I’m getting a very sweet raisin.

It reminds me a lot of Sun-Maid raisin boxes my mom used to throw in my lunch when fruit wasn’t on sale.

(Did you know that honeycrisp apples are around $3.99/pound right now? Even crappy apples like Red Delicious can get costly for a family of four. Raisins are a steal, friends.)

I loved those boxes of raisins. I loved how the beautiful Sun Maid lady was in a circle-halo like the Virgin Mary. I enjoyed pulling the stems out of the raisins. I liked their squishy pop. I was super-into digging into the bottom of the box to get the last raisins that were stuck down there. Raisin-scraping was just as satisfying as picking my nose, but socially acceptable. Every box was a project unto itself. No raisin was left behind.

I’d like to thank this tea for bringing back a very cherished childhood memory I’d completely forgotten.
