Today is the second official day of the tea advent calendar season but to avoid spoilers- I’m going to review the lovely Adagio Teas Advent Calendar a day behind so without further ado. . . . .
Day #1- Spiced Apple Chai
Spiced Apple Chai is a tea blend from Adagio Teas that I know very well. I have enjoyed this one quite often. This lovely black tea based flavored chai is pretty much like fall in a cup but I like to enjoy this one with a twist. A shot of rum or a dollop of cream just adds a nice next level feel to this brew.
Brewed with fresh prepped water at boiling and steeped for right around 2-3 minutes this blends yields a distinctive distinctive apple flavor along with what I would consider the traditional chai spices-ginger, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon . Flavors that you would expect to go well together and a chai you want to enjoy on a cool day where wrapping your hands around a mug brings your tea loving soul so much love.
Adding the additional extras of course are optional to enjoy this lovely cuppa and what is great about this particular blend, there are so many different ways you can enjoy- western brewed, as a latte, adult like with a shot of this or that, cold brewed with or without a touch of maple syrup, truly the possibilities are endless which makes this one of my favorite Adagio blends.

Spiced Apple Chai from Adagio Teas
I feel like i’ve been trying a lot of chai’s lately. Adagio actually has some fabulous vanilla chai cookies. Maybe I will review them in the near future! So keep an eye out. Anyways, Spiced Apple Chai by Adagio- I want to start out this review letting you know what my expectations for this blend were. I was really picturing a cinnamon-y, clove-spiced, ginger-touched apple cider. Maybe a spicier version of apple crisp. I absolutely love cinnamon apples as a side on Thanksgiving. I was hoping that this tea would remind me of that.
I actually can say, honestly, that my expectations of this blend were met! Its funny because one of my first thoughts were that this blend would taste FANTASTIC as a hot latte with some steamed milk and honey. It really does smell like a spicier version of cinnamon apples and apple pie. It is so so good! The black tea is very smooth and not too bold, which you know I love. The spices are very well done, they aren’t overly done or too spicy. I am not usually a fan of ginger, but I really appreciate the taste of ginger in this blend and the way it mingles with the cinnamon and cloves is really nice. I am not usually a fan of orange peel, but I feel like it almost brings out the apple/fruit flavor a little bit more and thankfully doesn’t add any bitterness.
I really feel like I am eating cinnamon apples at Thanksgiving while I drink this. I think that turning this tea into a latte with steamed milk, honey, and a sprinkling of nutmeg would be an amazing fall treat! I will definitely be keeping this tea on the back burner and bringing it out in the fall. A great caffeinated alternative to apple cider. If you like chai tea and you like apple cider, you will LOVE this blend!

Spiced Apple Chai from Adagio Tea
This tastes spot-on like spiced apple cider. It tastes precisely like something one would buy at a farmer’s market from an Amish person. You could imagine them hand-mashing it, mulling it, and dropping in a dallop of cinnamon. Totally real ingredients, all the indulgence, with none (or almost none) of the calories.
You’d then carry your cup of this cider into a pumpkin patch, with your partner, who wants to “share” it with you. But really, s/he wants to drink 75% and not hold their own cup. Then, when it’s drunk down, you didn’t get enough (there is NEVER ENOUGH of something so tasty). AND you’re left holding an empty cup in your hand and no trash can.
In vengeance, you make them carry the pumpkin in line to the weighing station, and then make them pull the goop out of the pumpkin’s head at home while you drink wine and watch reality TV.
You insist on a “cute” pumpkin this year instead of an “elaborate” pumpkin.
You get your way. Because you gave them some of your cider (or tea that tastes like cider, in this instance), and it was the bomb.
