Leaf Type: Yerba Maté
Where to Buy: Choice Organic Teas
Product Description:
Perk up with this refreshing twist on the traditional. Renowned for its natural kick, yerba maté grows in subtropical South America and has been enjoyed by gauchos for generations. We blend ours with peppermint, spearmint and a hint of lemongrass for a bright tea that’s light, cool and exhilarating. [contains caffeine]
Taster’s Review:
Exhilarating is right! The yerba maté is energizing, while the peppermint and spearmint is crisp and refreshing. Put these ingredients together and you’ve got one very exhilarating beverage, indeed!
This tisane is nicely balanced. It is minty, but not too minty. The yerba maté is slightly earthy but the mint offsets it enough so that it is easy to drink and not too earthy or vegetative. The lemongrass offers just a hint of citrus tones to the cup and adds an interesting dimension to the cup. There’s even a light tangy note from the citrus right at the finish that remains in the aftertaste.
And I really like the company. It is one that I really feel good about supporting, because not only are they organic and committed to the protection of our environment, but they also are involved with really good causes, such as the Jane Goodall Institute, a non-profit organization that is committed to the preservation of the lives and habitat of primates.
It is a very good tea and a tea I can feel good about!

Tasters Review:
Cooling Mint Tulsi Blend from Tao of Tea really surprised me! Here’s why…
My sip started off a little gentle and mild and gained momentum as the sip continued!
It was more herbally at first but then grew into a wonderful mint experience. It was creamy but minty-fresh! I could taste the basil-likeness of the Tulsi and it was quite good. It left a refreshing aftertaste!
This is a great Tulsi Tisane! Or should I say HOLY LEAF Tisane? I think Holy Leaf makes it sound more important! In short, it’s basically a sweet basil…in case you aren’t familiar with Tulsi or Holy Leaf.
Tulsi has…
Potential Health Benefits including:
- Strengthens the immune system, promotes longevity and enhances well-being.
- Promotes heart health by lowering cholesterol and high blood pressure.
- Reduces the negative physical and psychological effects of stress.
- Increases the body’s efficiency in using oxygen, which improves stamina, strength and endurance.
- Promotes respiratory health.
- Helps with digestion and gastrointestinal problems.
- Neutralizes dangerous biochemicals that contribute to cancer, degenerative diseases and premature aging.
- Facilitates healthy liver function.
- Reduces cell and tissue damage from sun rays, radiation therapy and other radiation sources.
- Relieves inflammation from arthritis and other diseases.
- Helps fight infections.
If you haven’t tried Tulsi Tea or Holy Leaf Tea or Tisane’s before – give them a whirl! This is a very good one to try! I like it best paired with the minty-freshness and this tisane offers that and more!
Spearmint from Enjoying Tea
Leaf Type: Herbal
Where to Buy: Enjoying Tea
Company Description:
This wonderful field grown and sun-dried spearmint is from Washington State. Spearmint is highly appreciated for its digestive properties and its ability to relieve nausea. It’s often used to help relieve headaches and tension. Use spearmint to add a kick to your favorite tea!
Taster’s Review:
I really don’t drink a lot of herbal teas. I prefer teas with Camellia Sinensis (the tree from which tea leaves are harvested) rather than herbal tisanes, but later in the evening, I really like to sip on a “tea” – but I don’t really want all that caffeine keeping me up all night. That’s when I usually turn to herbal teas.
And, sometimes, it’s nice to wind down after a long (and spicy!) day with something fresh and pure like this Spearmint. Spearmint is often used to help with digestive discomfort, so it’s especially good after eating something spicy (tonight we had tacos!) Plus … it leaves the mouth feeling minty fresh – a nice bonus.
This is pure Spearmint from Washington State (which is where I live), and the taste is crisp and clean. It has a natural sweetness to it – so it doesn’t need any sweetener. It doesn’t taste medicine-y or like mouthwash – it tastes light and refreshing.
Not something that I drink all the time… but I’m really enjoying it right now! It is also a great “tea” to keep on hand, because it makes a great addition to other teas should you wish to “kick it up a notch” (to borrow a catch phrase from a well-known chef). I especially like to add a little Spearmint to plain, organic honeybush for a minty, sweet, late-night treat!
Spearmint Leaf from Dreamweaver’s Shop
Leaf Type: Herbal
Where to Buy: Dreamweaver’s Shop on Etsy
Company Description:
Description: Spearmint Leaf
Botanical Name: Mentha Spicata
Origin: Oregon, United States
Uses: Herb Tea
Comments: Spearmint is also commonly known solely as mint tea. Brews an invigorating cup of tea.
Taster’s Review:
Clean and Crisp! That’s this cuppa to a “T” (or TEA)!
The leaf is pure spearmint – no extra herbs or fillers – just pure spearmint. It has a fresh flavor that is uplifting. It is also an excellent choice to enjoy after a spicy meal because spearmint aids in digestion … and leaves you feeling minty fresh too!
Spearmint has long been used for medicinal purposes. As I mentioned, it is a digestive aid. But it also can help alleviate stress, reduce fevers and increase mental alertness.
And these are all good reasons to enjoy an infusion of pure Spearmint Leaf. But, all of the healthful benefits don’t really mean much if it doesn’t taste good – but this… tastes great.
Smooth, minty and fresh. Everything you’d expect from a pure leaf, and nothing you don’t. Excellent served hot or iced – perhaps with a thin slice of lemon? Refreshing!

Tasters Review:
Last week was one of the hardest weeks for me. Good Friends and Good Tea were the things that helped me thru it. This was one of those teas.
Green Peace from Chad’s Chai and Tea Company is lovely. I LOVE the name and it certainly lives up to it.
It’s pretty fragrant and tastes just like you think it would…refreshing and minty. BUT…it’s still a true green tea taste!
I would recommend Green Peace to anyone who likes Green Tea, Mint, and Flavored Greens. It’s calming, refreshing, peaceful, and tasty!
Om.
