Taster’s Review:

I love marshmallows.  I especially love homemade marshmallows, they’re one of my favorite treats.  (By the way, if you’re looking for an exceptional marshmallow experience, you’ve got to try 240Sweet’s marshmallows!)  So, I was really excited to try this Graveyard Mist from 52Teas which is a blend of green teas, marshmallow root and spearmint!

And what it tastes like, is a minty marshmallow in a cup of green tea!  YUM!  I can almost taste and feel the fluffiness of the marshmallow puff.  I definitely get the whole “Graveyard Mist” thing here – the flavor from the marshmallow root and the hint of malt really give this tea a sort of haunting kind of flavor.  It’s amazing, and demonstrates, once again, that Frank from 52Teas is a tea genius!

The combination of the Chinese Sencha and Yun Wu green teas provides a delightful base for this blend.  It is vegetative, with a taste that is somewhere between sweet grass and mild spinach.  It lends a very fresh taste to the overall cup, a freshness that is further emphasized with the crisp, clean taste of spearmint.  I like that the minty tones are not overwhelming the cup – as mint has been known to sometimes do.  Instead, it sort of lingers in the background.

I love the way the mint and the marshmallow root work together here.  It is almost like a veiled, wispy essence of mint … like a ghostly mint because of the marshmallow and I think this plays to the whole Graveyard Mist concept.

Really unique … and so good, it’s scary!

Taster’s Review:

I had my doubts about this tea.  After all, I’m not fond of hibiscus, and I have often let that be known here on this blog.  It seems like it’s in nearly every tisane out there … why, oh why does it need to also be added to Camellia Sinensis?  I mean, yeah, I get it … I know it’s loaded with vitamins and offers a realistic berry-like taste when it’s infused.  But it also can be rather tart and when left to brew too long, it becomes syrupy.  Fortunately, since it has been blended with a green tea here, that isn’t a problem, as I rarely brew my green teas for longer than 2 minutes.  But the tartness.  I’m doubtful, but I’ve got my fingers crossed.   Here’s hoping!

OK, so this is pretty darned good!  The hibiscus did not go all “hibiscus-y” on me and turn this into a syrupy, tarty tasting tea.  I taste the lovely, sweet flavor of the Sencha, which is slightly creamy, almost buttery, and smooth.  I taste the bright, vibrant flavor of the orange, and I do taste the hibiscus.  It tastes tart and tangy, but, it doesn’t overwhelm it.

It’s got kind of a sweet-and-sour kind of thing going on, and I like the contrast.  The sip starts off sweet, with a bright, citrus-y tone and sweet green tea taste.  Toward mid-sip, the flavor shifts to a slightly tart taste, which develops and becomes more tart toward the tail and then carries through to the aftertaste.

It’s a very lively, enjoyable tea.  Especially nice as it cools – would make a great iced tea!

Taster’s Review:

This isn’t the first time I’ve tasted and reviewed this tea, I have reviewed it previously, but, this is a tea that is so tasty that I am happy to revisit it.  Plus, since receiving a sampling of it along with my Steep & Go, I wanted to mention just how good it is cold-brewed using – you guessed it! – the Steep & Go!

I brewed a cup of it hot, though, just to remind my taste buds of the flavors of this tea.  It still has a wonderful, well-rounded taste because of the blend of teas:  a Japanese Sencha and a Chinese Dragonwell.  The combination of these two delicious teas makes for a lovely base flavor that is sweet, a little creamy and vegetative, but also possessing a lightness that is very refreshing. The strawberry notes are matched well with the rhubarb, offering a sweet yet tantalizingly tart flavor that is very enjoyable.

While I sipped it hot, I had it cold-brewing in my water bottle, and I could hardly wait to see just how great this tea is cold-brewed.  I let it brew for about a half an hour (yes, I know that the instructions say it only needs 10 minutes, but, I wanted to see how much flavor would come from a longer infusion), and I am very pleased with the result.

The color of the liquid is lighter than the hot brewed tea, but not by much.  Even with the extended brew time, I taste no bitterness.  There is virtually no astringency with the cold infusion either.  (There was some astringency with the hot brewed cuppa)  There is a very nice balance between tart and sweet, with tart just narrowly edging out the sweet.  The sweetness of the strawberry acts to buffer the tartness of the rhubarb, but doesn’t mute it – and while I am not normally a big fan of tartness, with this cold-brewed tea, it works.  It is light and refreshing and the tartness invigorates the palate!

As much as I enjoy the Boulder Blues tea as a hot tea, I think it’s even more delightful cold-brewed with the Steep & Go!

Taster’s Review:

Refreshing!

Of the different cold-brewed iced teas offered from Den’s Tea, this one might just be my new favorite!

What I’m liking so much about it is that just like the others that I’ve tried, the green tea is the strongest flavor… and here, the green tea tastes a bit more vegetative than the others that I’ve tried, and I’m really liking the rich flavor of the Japanese Sencha.  Sweet, slightly grassy, and a buttery background note.  Delicious!

The mango flavor is not a super strong flavor, but it is by no means what I’d call delicate, either.  I’d say it’s pretty evenly matched, with the vegetative taste of the Sencha and hint of Matcha edging out the mango just a bit.  The mango tastes lusciously sweet, like a very ripe mango (no under-ripe fruit flavors here!)

I love these cold-brewed iced teas from Den’s.  They are so refreshing, and I love how they go so well with a meal, but also taste so good that I want to drink them on their own too.  I also like that they don’t need to be sweetened!   These cold-brewed tea bags are simple, convenient, and produce a really flavorful iced tea.  That’s a win-win… or should I say win-win-win?

Taster’s Review:

Oh, man, I am LOVING these cold-brew iced teas from Den’s Tea.  Yeah, yeah, I know that they’re bagged teas, but, I just love how convenient it is to cold-brew these teas.  I just plunk five bags into my half-gallon iced tea pitcher along with a half gallon of freshly filtered, cool water and seal the lid, and stash it in my fridge.  The next morning, I have a pitcher full of delicious, refreshing iced tea.

And this Mint Iced Tea from Den’s doesn’t really need anything more than that!  No sugar or other sweetener, nothing.  It’s got a pleasant sweetness to it without anything more added, and it has a cool, crisp minty taste that adds to the overall refreshment of the glass of iced tea.

The green tea is the strongest flavor, and that’s the way it should be.  The green tea tastes vibrant and clean with a sweet, vegetative taste.  I like that the mint flavor – a combination of both peppermint and spearmint – is also strong, but it doesn’t overpower the green tea.  That happens all too often with mint teas … the mint flavor becomes so dominate that all one can taste is the mint.  I drink tea because I like tea, not for the added flavors.  The added flavors do add a little something extra, but really, when it comes right down to it, it’s all about the tea for me … and I like that it’s all about the tea with Den’s tea, too.

A very refreshing way to cool off during these hot summer days!
