Review:
This is my kind of Valentine’s Day present! A beautiful little box filled with an assortment of chocolate flavored teas … I mean, seriously, what could be better than that for this chocoholic tea addict?
The box is gorgeous. It measures 4 inches long by 4 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches tall. The base is a deep, chocolate brown color, and the top has the same brown color with pale pink polka dots. The box is then accented with bright pink grosgrain ribbon with cute white stitching along with a coordinating pink and white polka dot ribbon. It’s so adorable!
Tucked inside are eight tins of 1 inch tall round tins with clear tops. Each of the tins is filled with approximately .25 ounces of tea … just enough for about 4 cups of tea.
The assortment includes a few favorite chocolate teas from 52Teas collection, including Chocolate Mint Black Tea and Malted ChocoMaté, and SIX (count ’em, six!) chocolate teas that I have not yet tried! Yippee! The only thing better than having chocolate tea that I have tried and enjoyed is having a new chocolate tea to taste! These new teas are:
- Cherry Cordial Black Tea
- Almond Happiness Black Tea
- Smoky Chocolate Black Tea
- Chocolate Caramel Black Tea
- White Chocolate Strawberry Black Tea
- Chocolate Raspberry Honeybush
While I have previously reviewed the other two teas (click on them to check out those reviews), I will be reviewing each of the new teas separately, starting with the White Chocolate Strawberry, and that review will be published this evening at midnight (or 9 pm for those of us who are on the West Coast).
This Box of Chocolate Teas was offered from 52Teas several weeks before Valentine’s Day and a limited supply is still available. If you didn’t get what you wanted for Valentine’s Day, now is the chance to treat yourself! You deserve it!
On the Ninth Day of Christmas, 52Teas Sent to Me …
Today’s tea is another one of my favorites from this past year. I seem to have more hits than misses when it comes to 52Teas, but, I suppose that is what makes them my favorite tea company. Not only does Frank manage to create some really unusual and totally unique flavored teas, but, he does it well. He doesn’t just toss flavoring in with some tea leaves and call it a blend. He takes the time to create something that tastes as good and interesting as it sounds. Having been a tea artist, I can speak from experience and say that it is NOT easy. But, Frank makes it look easy because it is a rare occasion when I’m actually disappointed by one of his teas. Most of the time, I’m just as pleased as can be with his creations.
And today’s blend is no exception. He brought back some cherished childhood memories with this tea blend.
For the ninth tea of Christmas, 52Teas gave to me …
I wasn’t allowed to drink a lot of soda as a kid, which, looking back now, I think was a good thing. I was pretty frustrated with it as a kid though, because all I drank was water and punch (aka Kool-Aid, which was made with saccharine – YUCK!) There was a rare occasion as a child when we would visit my father’s best friend, he would make me a special “cocktail” consisting of ginger ale, ice and a maraschino cherry. It looked much like the glass on the label. It made me feel grown up to have a drink that at least looked like the adults drinks, even if it didn’t taste like it (and truth be told, I still prefer the way the ginger ale would taste over a mixed drink).
And then, there was the even more rare occasion when I might be sick to my stomach, and was allowed to drink “flat” ginger ale, which was supposed to settle my stomach (according to my step-mom). Those were the only two times I was really allowed to have soda (unless we were out to eat, which was an even more rare occasion), and both times involved Ginger Ale. So, Ginger Ale is kind of a special beverage for me, and Frank has managed to capture that flavor very well in this tea.
Like the other teas in this 12 Teas of Christmas series, I have reviewed this tea previously … and I love it now as much as I loved it then.
On The Fourth Day of Christmas, 52Teas Sent to Me…
Back in October (I think?), 52Teas posted in the Steepster Forums asking which teas that “we” Steepsterites would like to see in the 12 Days of Christmas Sampler. I responded that I’d like to see my Tomato, Basil and Black Pepper blend in there (and I would still like that!), and then went on to list some that I thought he’d include as well as some of my favorites.
This tea – today’s tea – happened to be on that list. Yay!
So … for the Fourth Day of Christmas, 52Teas sent to me …
RAINBOW SHERBET FLAVORED BLACK TEA
If you’ve been keeping up with my reviews of 52Teas this past summer, you know that they had a couple of iced tea series … and those were great. But NONE of them made as good an iced tea as this. In fact, I think that this may just be my #1 favorite iced tea.
It is also very good hot. It has the flavors of lime, orange and raspberry, as well as a hint – the faintest hint – of vanilla to give it a sense of creaminess. And it tastes as though someone put a scoop of rainbow sherbet in my black tea and let it melt. So incredibly YUM!
Here is the review I wrote for this tea back in August. It is as good now as it was back then!
Ho! Ho! Ho! This is shaping up to be a great 12 Days of Christmas sampler!
