Taster’s Review:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.  I’m not wild about hibiscus.  However, I do often find hibiscus-y blends that are quite tasty.  This Cherry Cosmo is one such example.

The hibiscus here not only gives the cup some much needed texture, but together with the apple, it provides a good background flavor for the sweet fruit notes.  The cherry really pops in this blend, and I think that is due in part to the tart hibiscus flavor.

The sip starts out with a sweet-tart cherry taste, reminding me a bit of a cherry sour ball.  About mid-sip, I begin to notice the background notes of hibiscus and apple, and the softer raspberry flavor weaves its way into the sip right at the finish.  The finish is tart with a nice sweet fruit flavor lingering in the aftertaste.

Overall, this is a tasty tisane.  I like that it’s a little sweet, and not too tart.   I like it hot or cold.  And because it’s naturally caffeine free, it is a refreshing, relaxing tea that can be enjoyed any time of the day.

Taster’s Review:

This is Davidson’s “tea of the month” (which means it’s now on sale!  Yay!) and it is a surprisingly good herbal blend.   As some of you are probably well aware, I’m not always particularly keen on herbal teas, especially those with hibiscus.  But, even though this one has hibiscus in it, it’s quite delicious.

Davidson’s tea of the month this month is offered three different ways:  as an “iced tea” (packaged in quart sized tea bags for easy brewing), in single-serving sized tea bags, and in loose leaf form.  In loose leaf form, this tea is a little different, as the blend also contains rooibos.  What I will be reviewing here is the iced tea blend.

The combination of cranberry and orange is typically an autumnal flavor combination, but, it is a deliciously refreshing summertime flavor too!  This herbal blend makes a very flavorful iced tea.  It is light and crisp.  The flavor is lightly sweet with a tart note that lingers into the aftertaste.  I am not usually fond of tart tasting teas, but, here, the tartness works.  It compliments the flavor of the cranberry and orange.

The orange is sweet and juicy.  The cranberry is tangy and tart.  These two flavors work together very well, and seem to bring out the best in each other.  The chamomile is not a very strong flavor in the blend, although this blend wouldn’t taste the same without it.  I can also taste hints of the hibiscus.  It gives the tea a little bit of body, but it isn’t that thick, syrupy texture that is sometimes associated with hibiscus-y teas.

A refreshingly different iced tea!

Organic Pomegranate Green Tea from Element Tea

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green

Where to Buy:  Element Tea

Product Description:

Satisfy your palate and sweeten the senses with this popular tea. Select organic Green tea blended with organic raspberries and essence of pomegranate will leave you wanting more.

Ingredients: Organic Green Tea, Organic Rosehips, Organic Raspberries, Natural Flavors

Taster’s Review:

This is a very tasty pomegranate flavored green tea.

The green tea base is a very flavorful green.  It is a light-bodied, vibrant tasting tea with a fresh, clean flavor.  It is somewhat grassy but certainly not off-putting.  There is a fair amount of astringency to the tea which I think highlights the tart nature of the pomegranate.

The pomegranate flavor is sweet and tart.  I like that the flavoring here is delicate enough that it doesn’t overwhelm the flavor of the tea, but, not so delicate that it cannot be tasted.  It has that tangy “tingly” taste that lingers in the aftertaste, an experience that is much like what I would taste if I were to pop a plump pomegranate aril in my mouth.

The dried raspberries do not contribute a lot of flavor to the cup, and I think they are mainly there for aesthetic purposes, but, I can taste a sweet hint of raspberry to the cup.  It is faint, but it is there – and I like the flavor that it adds.  I also LOVE that this tea is organic!

This tea is a pleasure to sip while hot, but, even better when its iced.  It has an exhilarating taste that is sure to quench your thirst!  I do recommend a pinch of sugar if you choose to ice this one – it will help enliven the flavors just a bit.  Yet another great tea from Element Tea!

Rooibos Superfruit Tea from Choice Organic Teas

Tea Type: Rooibos

Where To Buy:
Choice Organic Tea

Product Description:

Paired with fruit, this jewel-toned red tea is slightly sweet, full of flavor and refreshing. Grown in South Africa’s Cederberg Mountains, rooibos has long been prized for its restorative qualities. Hibiscus, rosehips, orange, and schizandra berry are known for their high levels of vitamin C.

Tasters Review:

This is tremendously aromatic. It smells like grapefruit at first but I quickly realize it’s more ORANGE than anything else.

As for the taste I can taste Orange, Hibiscus, and Berries! The flavors are overtop of the rooibos flavor and it’s fruity, citrusy, and a little tart. Nothing I can’t handle…which leads me to believe the hibiscus isn’t jam packed in there which is fine by me!

I would have to say the primary flavor and scent is the ORANGE tho! This is very flavorful for a bagged rooibos! I like it hot but KNOW I would like it ever more iced and for the upcoming spring and summer weather I think it would be marvelous!

Sunset in Seattle Tea from Market Spice

Tea Type: Herba;

Where To Buy: Market Spice

One of our sweetest and most popular herbal teas, Sunset in Seattle is a blend utilizing a myriad of herbs that are soothing and mellow. Ingredients: Rosehips, Vanilla, Chamomile, Spearmint, Raspberry, Lemon Grass, Hyssop and herbs. Contains no sugar and is caffeine free.

Tasters Review:

Sunset in Seattle Tea from Market Spice looked much like the picture above  thru the see-thru bag it came in but there was white powder heavily throughout the blend.  For me not knowing too much about this tisane before trying it I was confused by the powder ingredient but quickly released it was the vanilla within the mix.
The vanilla ‘powder’ is powerful and very nice smelling.  The overall aroma consists of Chamomile, Mint, and Vanilla.  The color post-infusion is a cloudy gray-orange-yellow type color.  The taste is minty but floral…Herbally yet smooth…lemony yet vanilla….this is odd but lovely.  It’s interesting and surprising!  I ended up REALLY liking this one!  The aftertaste is minty yet sweet! Opposites completely attract in this case…and it makes me grin from ear to ear!

I especially liked the vanilla and minty notes!
