When I lived in Montreal there was a tea from a local tea store, Camellia Sinensis, that I loved. I usually am not one for florals but that blend, Des Roses et Des Bonbons was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, that tea was discontinued.
This tea is reminiscent of that great rose flavor, even if it does lack the “bonbons” candy element. Nonetheless, it’s sweet and floral making for a delicate treat. The black tea base contributes a silky smoothness with a great deal of malt and a dash of smoke. The base and rose flavor combine quite harmoniously to make a lovely everyday sort of tea where there is enough flavor to keep things interesting but not too much that you will bore of it quickly. With that in mind, it’s probably a good transition tea for those trying to make the jump from flavored to straight teas (or vice versa).
Plus, this is also a fun tea to watch brew. The large pearl comes filled with rose flowers. As the black tea blooms, the roses inside float to the top making for a one beautiful looking brew. Could be the tea to go with when you want to impress a friend or perhaps if you just want something relaxing to watch for a few minutes.

Description
The materials of Rose Dragon Ball Black tea are from Yunnan arbor old tea trees combining with Phnom Penh Rose, expertly rolled into a large pearl-like shape. Phnom Penh Rose is a specialty among the categories of Yunnan’s edible foods. Compared with other roses, the Phnom Penh Rose has a smaller appearance with light taste, but it presents a more delicate sweet taste and fragrance. Because of this reason, it’s capable of covering the strong taste and sometimes even some extent of bitterness from the old tea trees.

Persian Rose from Tay Tea. . . . .
Persian Rose from Tay Tea is Nini’s Signature Tea according to the company website. It was her first and her favorite to date! Persian Rose from Tay Tea has a black tea base and has an immense amount of rose petals in with the loose leaf ingredients. If you try to thumb thru those ingredients you may also noticed tiny blueish-purple petals that are thinner than the rose petals. Those are Borage Petals. Borage – also known as Starflower – was something I was giddy over trying in a tea! I can’t recall another tea that I have had with Borage Petals in it and I always look for those teas that provide a little extra something! Persian Rose from Tay Tea was one of those teas.
Okay…so…there is black tea, rose petals, rose buds, Borage, bergamot, and even green cardamom in this blend of flavors! So if you are a fan of Earl Grey, Rose flavored teas, flavored EGs, or straight-up floral teas you will want to try Persian Rose from Tay Tea. Yes…I could taste a variety of floral flavors and they were accomplished and of high quality. This tea was NOT bitter. I could taste the bergamot and it was a lovely juicy citrus that fit well. The green cardamom was gentle but I couldn’t imagine this flavored tea without it!
I have to say that Persian Rose from Tay Tea is probably one of my favorite rose flavored teas I have tried to date!

Rose Oolong from Tea Ave.
I’ve been sort of meh about rose teas lately, but this one has some oomph. It’s an iron fist in a velvet glove.
This tea tastes like going to an imperial palace and walking through a rose garden. The rose and the bright oolong have a spring evening feel. You’re walking through the well-tended garden, your feet on the warm yet cooling stones, discussing diplomacy in really awesome brocade silk dresses.
This tea just has just the right amount of caffeine for a productive but not jittery afternoon. Sometimes, when I drink afternoon tea, I feel like I am having a heart attack. Not so with this tea. I’m alert, but not about to fly off the handle. Awesome. Recommended!

Chocolate Rose Truffle Black Tea from 52Teas
Tea Information:
Leaf Type: Black
Where to Buy: 52Teas
Tea Description:
The base of the tea is a blend of four black teas: two teas from Verdant Tea, a rich, malty Assam and a rose Congou. To that I added chocolate flavoring, cacao shells & nibs, mini vegan chocolate chips and vegan white chocolate chips. The result is a very chocolate-y tea with just a hint of rose that’s a perfectly romantic tea to give to that special someone this Valentine’s Day – or any day of the year that you want to tell someone you care!

Taster’s Review:
I recently did a review for this tea on my own blog but thought that this blend need another review here!
This tea is one of the best chocolate teas I’ve ever tried. Seriously!
When you first open this pouch of tea, be prepared for the most lushest decadent chocolate aroma you have ever smelled. Seriously. The aroma coming from this tea made me feel like I was going to gain 10 pounds just by smelling it. Cacao nibs and shells, milk chocolate, and white chocolate, all mixed up with a black tea base and rose petals. Tea Heaven!
I brewed this tea up with fresh boiled water and my french press. I allowed the tea to steep for about 3 minutes before pushing down on the plunger. I allowed the tea to cool before I took a few minutes. As the tea was cooling, I was still getting all of those wonderful gorgeous chocolate aromas.
Now I will admit, chocolate teas are not my thing but 52Teas chocolate teas have been delicious so I just had to try this one. First sip in I was preparing myself for this overabundance of chocolate flavorings to hit me at once. The exact opposite. This tea is so delicate and gentle. The chocolate notes translate into a softer gentle flavor that mingles gorgeously with the black teas and rose petals, allowing each ingredient to sing their own song and make a brilliant cuppa.
The black tea provided a wonderful smoothness with a slight astringent note. The rose petals provided that sweetness that was needed to combat the slightly bitter cacao shells & nibs. The white chocolate was the most pronounced of the chocolate flavors I could really get a good tasting of and it was just heavenly!
Well done 52Teas. This as close to perfection as they come with chocolate teas for me! I have already devoured a few steepings and plan to brew up more! I believe this one is still available. I recommend everyone grab some while they can. Delicious!

Taster’s Review:
I admit it, I am not a Supernatural fan. Only because of time. I have engulfed myself in so many other shows that this one has just gone by the way side. Specifically as of late, we have been watching a ton of Northern Exposure and Game of Thrones. Jason and I have been binging like mad on Northern Exposure and now with GoT over and we have just about finished up with the whole Northern Exposure show, I’m hoping I can jump right into Supernatural. So please forgive that I’m in the dark with the references to Cas.
What I can talk about is the tea itself. I have been craving rose petals in tea as o f late. Something that I’ve touched on in my blog-CuppaGeek. I tried a rose herbal that turned my thoughts completely about having rose petals in my teas that I drink. Typically I wouldn’t give them a second look. Anymore, I am reaching out and craving for those beautiful flowers to be in my tea.
This is a black tea with rose petals. These particular rose petals are more of a peach color than the pink or purple ones I have had in the past. I brewed this up like a typical black tea- 212F-1 cup water-2 min in my glass teapot. Let this cool just for a few seconds before taking my first sip.
First sip in and this is the flavor I have been craving. The black tea providing a smooth background and the rose petals added a slight sweet flavor. Simple but very well done. This is a tea that could get muddled pretty quick with having too much of the black tea in and not the proper ratio of black tea to rose petals. What I would love to see is maybe a touch of vanilla or honey added in to kick the sweetness up a notch and giving the tea more dimension. But even as it sits, this is a subtle tea that would be perfect tea for any time of the day. Another gem found on Etsy. Great job Chris & Alexa@ Frandom Teas. Can’t wait to try the rest!
