Tea Description:
Following the success of our Razzleberry (Raspberry & Blackberry) blend and iced tea, I thought we’d give it a try with our genmaicha. And I am not sorry!
Here’s our toasty Japanese genmaicha considerably cheered-up with the sweet and tart flavors of raspberry and blackberry. This is a unique summertime blend of genmaicha, and the combination of the sea-sprayed Japanese sencha, toasty brown rice and berry goodness makes me think of a picnic on the beach.

Taster’s Review:
Yum! This Razzleberry flavored Genmaicha Green Tea from 52Teas is really tasty! It’s got the toasty, nutty flavor of Genmaicha, together with the tart notes of raspberry and the sweet notes of blackberry. It’s quite a treat for the tastebuds.
The first flavor that I notice is that of the Genmaicha – I notice that sweet, nutty flavor of the toasted and popped rice, and the slightly grassy notes of the green tea. Just before mid-sip, I start to notice the sweetness of the berries coming through. The tarty notes of the berries starts to emerge close to the finish, and linger in the aftertaste, providing that “tingly” tart sensation on the tongue that you might experience if you were to eat a fresh raspberry.
This tastes good hot … but really, this is so much better iced! It’s so refreshing – and the fruity taste translates so well with an iced tea.
I know I mentioned this before … but it bears repeating: Please take a moment to watch the videos here and consider donating to help Zoomdweebies – a cool tea bar in Wichita, Kansas – reopen it’s doors!

Taster’s Review:
I cold-brewed this tea overnight, and it is so yummy! I have already finished half of the the 2 quart pitcher (in other words, I’ve already polished off a quart of it), and I can’t seem to stop sipping!
The berry flavors are bright and refreshing, with a good, solid berry flavor. It starts out with a distinct blackberry flavor that remains throughout the sip, and by about mid-sip, I notice the raspberry notes start to come through. The raspberry is especially noticeable in the aftertaste. It is here, in the aftertaste, where all I taste is fresh, juicy raspberry! Sweet with just a hint of berry tartness.
The black tea seems to have a mellower taste when infused using the cold-brew method, it is very smooth and there is very little astringency and absolutely no bitterness. It is strong enough to offer an ample base flavor to the glass without overwhelming the delicious berry flavor.
I used to be a hot-brewed iced tea kind of girl, but, lately, I’ve been preferring the cold-brew method, especially when it comes to these great tea bags from 52Teas. The bags are large enough to accommodate the tea leaves in their expanded (brewed) form and then some. And it’s so easy to brew them using the cold-brew method – just filter the water, fill the pitcher, and add the tea bag. No timers. No standing over the teapot waiting for the tea to finish steeping. And because these are in the large tea bag, there is nothing to clean up – just remove the tea bag.

Razzleberry Green from 52Teas
Leaf Type: Green
Where to Buy: sorry, this limited edition tea is no longer available…
Product Description:
Our buttery sweet Chinese sencha green tea with real freeze-dried blackberries and raspberries and all natural flavors. This is a great treat for these waning days of summer. I think I’m going to make another big icy stein of it right now.
Taster’s Review:
Even though 52Teas is one of my favorite tea companies, I’ve only become familiar with their teas within the last two years. So the limited edition teas that had sold out before I started becoming an avid customer – like this Razzleberry Green – were teas that were sadly out of my reach.
Fortunately, back in February, 52Teas offered some sample size packages of some of their retired blends. The samples were random (I didn’t know which samples I would receive), but I was so happy to find this one amongst the samples I ordered.
This is really delicious. The Chinese Sencha is light-bodied, buttery and sweet. The “razzleberry” flavor is a combination of raspberry and blackberry, and it is a subtle flavor that slowly develops as I continue to sip. The sweet “razzleberry” flavor seems a perfect match for the creamy flavor of the Sencha.
It is delicious hot, but even better as it cools. A very refreshing iced tea! This blend has a light sweetness to it, so I found it unnecessary to sweeten it when it was hot, but as it cooled, I found that a little sweetener (just a tiny drizzle of agave nectar) really brightened the fruit flavor.
This is a delightful tea. I wish it were still available so that I could tell you to order some! But I will say this: you should visit 52Teas website and watch for their tea of the week updates (or better yet, just subscribe to their newsletter, you’ll receive an emailed update with information about each week’s tea, as well as updates on any mid-week specials). If you love outrageous flavored teas, there is no tea company out there that does them better!
