Pumpkin Spice Chai from Art of Tea. . . .

Repeat after me: “There is no time of year that pumpkin spice is inappropriate.”

Feel free to shout it: “THERE IS NO TIME OF YEAR THAT PUMPKIN SPICE IS INAPPROPRIATE.”

All right. Now that we’ve covered that important subject, we can get into the Art of Tea’s Pumpkin Spice Chai.

I’m coming down firmly “pro” on this tea. It tastes, more than anything, like a pumpkin pie. It’s got sweetness to balance the spiciness. There are some creamy notes here that I’m really digging. I can ALMOST taste the turkey and cranberry* to go along with it!

* (Cranberry and turkey, by the way, are ALSO year-round foods, by the way.)

Unfortunately, like Thanksgiving, this tea is only available seasonally. It’s not in stock at the moment, but it could come back! Keep an eye out for it. It’s worth snapping up.

Sweet Tea O’Mine from the Goat Tea . . . .

It is always a thrill to find a new favorite fall tea.  With so many sweet caramel pumpkin teas or apple-pie-spiced blends, Sweet Tea O’Mine from The Goat Tea was a wonderful new take on the pumpkin spice tea.

This is a honeybush and rooibos based tea, which makes it naturally caffeine free and perfect for late night brewing.  Along with the herbal leaves, there is puffed rice like a traditionally green genmaicha tea. I have a soft spot for the starchy, almost savory genmaicha teas with puffed rice, so I was thrilled to find a new tea with this ingredient.  The honeybush and puffed rice compliment each other’s nuttiness, making for a rich and warming flavor combination.

Meanwhile the familiar autumn spices are still there, nutmeg and mace to name the key players.  This makes the tea have plenty of that pumpkin spice taste, but with a pleasant woodsy undertone from the herbal leaves.  I also appreciate that the blend isn’t too sweet or artificial. There is a medium sweetness with lingering flavors like brown sugar or molasses.

With its roasted wheat and toasted rice flavors this tea captures all the best parts of corn mazes and hay bales and gets me suitable excited for the upcoming 2019 fall season.

Pumpkin Spice Latte Genmaicha from 52Teas

I’ve been on a Smallville Kick lately…binge watching the series on Netflix. I wouldn’t call myself a SUPER FAN of SUPER MAN but after watching this series it occurred to me just how much I remember of the Superman Storyline and Comics from childhood thru adulthood. The classic line “It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s SUPERMAN!!!” comes to mind with this tea and here’s why…

It’s a Green Tea…It’s a Genmaicha…it’s Pumpkin Flavored…it’s a Spiced Latte…it’s all of the above, really! Pumpkin Spice Latte Genmaicha from 52 Teas is another iconically flavored Genmaicha offering from 52 Teas!

Upon opening the packet I could easily identify the pumpkin, the pumpkin spice, the pumpkin spice latte, the genmaicha, the mallow root, the spices individually and as a group, the creamy vanilla, and the toasty and roasty popped rice! There is so much going on here but it all ties together and makes COMPLETE sense and makes for an incredible cuppa!

I’m not sure why most of us only enjoy spiced pumpkin flavored things as a seasonal treat. Of course I know that is all based on it being harvest time and have pumpkin available but I think the flavors are tasty all year round.

Regardless when ever I am able to get my hands on this flavored green tea I gladly will! It’s a real beauty!

This time of year, it seems impossible to avoid the Pumpkin Spice trappings – there are pumpkin spice goodies every where you turn! Well, rather than fight ’em, I decided to join ’em and create a Pumpkin Spice treat of my own! And why not? I love the flavor! The pumpkin is sweet yet savory and the spices add a lovely, deep warmth to the pumpkin notes.

I started with organic Matcha infused Genmaicha and added chunks of real, dehydrated pumpkin, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla bean and marshmallow root to create a tea that’ll make you happy this time of year has finally arrived! This tea is terrific served straight up, but a drizzle of honey in this is oh-so-nice!

#FanaticFriday: Pumpkin Spice Latte Genmaicha from 52Teas

I’m a huge fan of 52Teas. Always have been. So I thought I would take over SororiTea Sisters today and chat about a few new offerings from 52Teas!

The weather is turning colder and with that comes all things pumpkin. Yes, I am one of those pumpkin addicts that go crazy. Now I don’t go nuts and buy pumpkin flavored cookies and pumpkin flavored candy, but I do flip out over pumpkin coffee (when I drank coffee), pumpkin in different dishes, and pumpkin in tea. So when I opened up my first monthly subscription from 52Teas and saw this tea in the lot, I may have gotten a tad giddy.

Brewed up per the packages instructions, this tea had an amazingly rich cinnamon roasted note. I allowed the tea to cool for a moment and took a sip. I was instantly greeted with those same deeply rich cinnamon notes with a roasted overtone. You could tell this was a genmaicha blend but the cinnamon notes really took the tea to a different level. Delicious!

But this tea is Pumpkin Spice Latte Genmaicha and I have to say with the first infusion, I didn’t really pick up any pumpkin.  So I brewed up more water and brewed up a second infusion, hoping to pull out the pumpkin flavor.  This go around I allowed the tea to cool longer. Took another sip and this time the pumpkin flavor was a bit stronger but not a ton. Even with that said, this tea was delicious! The pumpkin added a sweet note with the same lush cinnamon roasted tone.

With a tea like this one, you would think the pumpkin flavor would smack you in the face, but this one doesn’t.  To me, this was a more gentle pumpkin flavored tea that still delivers that fall like experience with every sip. I am still crazy about this tea and can’t wait to try my remaining taster as a cold brew.

All I really have left to say about this tea is this is a tea that is perfect to welcome in the fall!  Can’t wait to see what teas are in my October box!
