Product Description:

Red, white and blue, oh how I love you. Hats off to our all American blend of pomegranates, coconuts, blueberries and yummy rooibos. No caffeine so you can lull yourself to sleep with the ocean waves.

Taster’s Review:

This is a really pretty blend.  There are lots of blue and red petals, and along with the white coconut shavings, this blend has a very patriotic look.  It smells yummy too!  Fruity and sweet, with a delicious fragrance of coconut in the foreground.  It’s enough to make my mouth water!

When brewed, the aroma softens a bit, but I can still smell the blueberries and the coconut.  The pomegranate scent is a little less apparent, but fortunately, it isn’t so indistinguishable in the flavor!

This tastes really good.  The rooibos flavor is not particularly strong, and that’s the way I prefer it.  The coconut is the strongest flavor, and I can feel the silky, somewhat oily texture of the coconut wash over my palate.  It tastes sweet and creamy and very smooth.

The blueberries and pomegranate are almost of equal strength in this cup, with the blueberry edging out the pomegranate only slightly.  The flavor is sweet with a hint of tartness – tartness that I suspect is further softened by the presence of the coconut.

This is an awesome, caffeine-free dessert tisane that can be enjoyed any time of the day or night.  This would also be great to help curb those late-night sweet cravings!

Goji Berry Pom from Praise Tea

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  Praise Tea

Product Description:

This tea blend is very special – decorated with sun-dried goji berries and golden rosebuds. Goji berries have a reputation throughout Asia for their contribution to well being. A deliciously crisp, fruity, and healthful tea.

Taster’s Review:

This is a very flavorful cup of tea.  The black tea is the strongest flavor, but notes of berry and pomegranate weave their way through every part of the sip – right through to the aftertaste.

The black tea is a brisk tea, but I wouldn’t call it an aggressive one.  It is probably a Ceylon – it is flavorful and strong enough to emerge as the dominating flavor of the cup without overwhelming the flavors of pomegranate and goji berry (as well as the delicate citrus notes!)  There is a pleasant undercurrent of sweetness to the tea, and it is smooth and fairly even-tempered.  It doesn’t taste bitter.  There is a moderate amount of astringency.

The flavors of goji berry and pomegranate are tart, but I’m not finding them to be too tart.  The sweetness to this tea (a little from the fruit, a little from the tea) proves to be just enough to keep this tea from being too tart.  And I think that is what I like most about this tea.  I have been drinking a lot of sweet fruit teas lately, and while I do enjoy those, this is a very refreshing change without going too far off in the opposite direction.

This is delicious hot, but, do try it iced!  It is very refreshing, especially in this summer heat!

Organic Pomegranate Green Tea from Element Tea

Where to Buy:  Element Tea

Product Description:

Satisfy your palate and sweeten the senses with this popular tea. Select organic Green tea blended with organic raspberries and essence of pomegranate will leave you wanting more.

Ingredients: Organic Green Tea, Organic Rosehips, Organic Raspberries, Natural Flavors

Taster’s Review:

This is a very tasty pomegranate flavored green tea.

The green tea base is a very flavorful green.  It is a light-bodied, vibrant tasting tea with a fresh, clean flavor.  It is somewhat grassy but certainly not off-putting.  There is a fair amount of astringency to the tea which I think highlights the tart nature of the pomegranate.

The pomegranate flavor is sweet and tart.  I like that the flavoring here is delicate enough that it doesn’t overwhelm the flavor of the tea, but, not so delicate that it cannot be tasted.  It has that tangy “tingly” taste that lingers in the aftertaste, an experience that is much like what I would taste if I were to pop a plump pomegranate aril in my mouth.

The dried raspberries do not contribute a lot of flavor to the cup, and I think they are mainly there for aesthetic purposes, but, I can taste a sweet hint of raspberry to the cup.  It is faint, but it is there – and I like the flavor that it adds.  I also LOVE that this tea is organic!

This tea is a pleasure to sip while hot, but, even better when its iced.  It has an exhilarating taste that is sure to quench your thirst!  I do recommend a pinch of sugar if you choose to ice this one – it will help enliven the flavors just a bit.  Yet another great tea from Element Tea!

PRODUCT REVIEW: Organic Pomegranate Green Tea Concentrate from Third Street Chai

Product Information:

Ingredients: Filtered Water, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Organic Green Tea with Pomegranate Concentrate, Malic Acid, Ascorbic Acid

Taster’s Review:

I gotta tell you, I’m loving this stuff!

Yeah, yeah, I know that the purists are going to hate on me for it, but with this iced tea concentrate on hand, it is so easy to whip up a pitcher-full of tea at a moments notice.  And given the weather we’ve been experiencing here in the Pacific Northwest lately – yesterday, it was the hottest day we’ve had all year, and today we had a hail storm! – it’s great to have something quick and easy for cool, thirst-quenching refreshment when that hot weather strikes!

This is a sweetened concentrate, and if I had any criticism of it at all, it would be that I’d rather it wasn’t pre-sweetened.  I like to choose to sweeten or not sweeten my tea and not have that choice already made for me.  That being said, while this is a little sweeter than I would have made for myself, I am not finding it too sweet, and the sweetener does not overpower the flavor of the green tea and pomegranate.

The pomegranate is nicely tart and I think that this helps to cut through some of the sweetener of this tea.  The green tea is a delicate flavor, but, the light taste of it is quite delicious.  Overall, this makes for a refreshing iced tea that isn’t too heavy.  It is soothing and relaxing to sip, while at the same time, it invigorates.

This is something that I would buy for myself again.  Not only is it simple and convenient, it is very tasty and something that my guests enjoy as much as I do.  Third Street Chai rocks it out of the park with this tasty number!

Taster’s Review:

Today I’ve been very yawn-ish.  That is to say, I haven’t been able to shake the yawns since I woke up this morning.  I’ve been very sluggish – what I need is an energy boost.

And, while I was skeptical, I decided that I would give one of these pixies from Green Tea Pros a try.  You know what?  This stuff works!  I haven’t yawned since I started sipping on this glass of prepared Pink Sparkle.  And I feel more energetic.

It’s tasty too.  I’ve said before when reviewing the Green Tea HP/Green Tea Pros products that I think they are designed more for the people who don’t like (or don’t think they like) green tea, but still want the health benefits of green tea.  And I think that is true of the Pink Sparkle too.

That’s because this tastes more like a berry and pomegranate flavored soft drink than it does green tea.  It has a pleasant sweet-tart taste from the berries and pomegranate that lingers in the finish.  There is a slight “artificial sweetener” aftertaste to this that worried me just a little, as I am allergic to aspartame.  But I checked the ingredients and there is no aspartame in this.

I would definitely drink this again – especially on days like this when I feel myself dragging but I can’t go back to bed because I’ve a busy day ahead.  I love the burst of energy that I’m getting from it, it’s loaded with health benefits and most importantly it tastes pretty darned good.
