Taster’s Review:

Citrus Punch Matcha from Red Leaf Tea is really rather quite yummy! The reason I say that is because honestly I was a little apprehensive about trying this matcha.

I really thought it would be too tart, or too bitter, but its not! Its fresh, natural tasting, mix of orange, lemon, and lime. It reminds me a lot of a juice I used to drink when I was younger called Five Alive.

I made a latte with almond milk, and a splash of vanilla creamer and this matcha really tasted like a smoothie, or a Julius.

I am eager to try this matcha blended with some sparkling water or ginger ale as well!

Sometimes, with some matcha flavors I worry about a chemical after taste, and I am amazed that so much flavor can be packed into this dusty fine matcha powder! I don’t know how Red Leaf Tea does it, but I am so happy that they do!

Red Leaf Tea also has a fruit punch flavor I am dying to try, I have that on my shopping list! Then they recently released Apple Pie, Berry Pie, and French Butter Cookie, all which instantly made it on my shopping list as well.

Keep coming out with the amazing flavors Red Leaf Tea, and like a minion I will keep on buying!

As for this flavor, love it!

Taster’s Review:

Beverly Hills Breakfast from Compass Teas is a must try. First of all its a yellow tea, which I adore yellow teas, secondly it is a bright, cheerful cup that is an excellent breakfast treat.

This tea can be purchased by the ounce or in a try me size which is really special because yellow teas are not only a little more rare to come by but usually you won’t find a means to sample them easily.

You can learn more about yellow tea here.

I was really happy to find this tea in my most recent package of tea samples from my SororiTea Sister Jennifer. I love yellow teas and am always eager to try a new one. I do recall having seen this tea offered by Compass before but I sort of spaced it out and never got around to ordering any. Also I will admit, orange flavored teas are not generally my “go to” flavor in teas, yet I am so happy to have had the chance to sample this one. It’s quite delightful!

Its sunny, crisp, citrusy, yet there is this champagne bubble like sensation that reminds me of a mimosa!

I suppose I should not be surprised, after all this is how the tea is described, but I’m really happy with how the blend comes over on the palate. Its light, refined, yet flavorful.

Compass Teas did a really good job on this blend!

Taster’s Review:

This Yunnan GFOP from Upton Tea Imports is a really lovely Yunnan.  It is is everything that you expect from a high quality Yunnan.  It is sweet, malty, rich and has a delicious peppery overtone.

The leaves are long and wiry, and vary in color from a golden tan to a chocolate-y brown.  The tea brews up dark, and smells slightly earthy, with notes of spice.

This tea has very little astringency, and no noticeable bitterness.  It’s really a pleasant tea to sip – very agreeable!  The aftertaste is slightly spicy with sweet notes.

This is a rich and robust tea, which makes it a good choice for a morning tea (and would take the additions of milk and honey well, although I prefer it served straight), this tea would also do quite well as an afternoon pick-me-up.

Delicious!

Taster’s Review:

As I poured this Ginger Sweet Peach Herbal Tisane from Tiesta Tea into my teacup, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the aroma – it smells like fresh, juicy peaches!  It reminds me of summer at my gramma’s house when I was young and the peach tree would yield its delicious fruit … the kitchen would smell so delicious as my gramma would slice up the peaches for peach pie (and of course, my favorite, warm peach sauce for Sunday morning waffles!)

I didn’t smell much of the ginger or the pepper as I poured the tisane … just peaches.  But now that I sip it, I do taste the ginger and pepper … although the flavor is not an overwhelming presence in the cup.  The ginger is gentle and relaxing, as the label on the pouch from Tiesta Tea promises.  Tiesta Tea offers five different “types” of teas and tisanes:  Energizer, Relaxer, Eternity, Immunity, and Slenderizer.  This tisane is part of the Relaxer category … and it is gentle in flavor, and it is very relaxing to sip.  It is also rather soothing, making it a nice choice for after meals.

I steeped this tisane for 7 minutes in almost boiling water (195°F), and this yielded a cup that started off rather muted, but, after sip number two, I began to pick up on the flavors.  The peach is very nicely defined at this point, and I taste subtle hints of the melon.

I taste floral tones as well.  I am surprised – but happily so – that I taste very little hibiscus here.  Maybe a hint of tartness comes through here and there.  And the hibiscus is noted in the texture of the tisane … it has a nice, smooth character.  I think that if I had steeped this tisane longer, the texture might have gone from smooth to syrupy.  By mid-cup, I start to notice the pleasant warming sensation from the ginger and the pepper.  It is a mild warmth.

This tastes a lot like a thin warmed, peach nectar that has been infused with ginger and pepper, with just a splash of honeydew melon juice.  It’s quite yummy!   A really nice tisane from Tiesta Tea!

Taster’s Review:

This Chocolate Chai Pu-erh Tea from Della Terra Teas is a very tasty take on the traditional spiced chai blend.  It has what I’d expect from a chai –  exotic spices that taste warm and comforting – plus CHOCOLATE which you know I am loving … all with a rich, mellow Pu-erh base.

The Pu-erh provides a really solid background of flavor that is earthy and flavorful, without being extraordinarily robust.  The Pu-erh complements both the chocolate and the spices here … the earthiness of the Pu-erh works so nicely with the earthy notes of the spices, while the rich flavor of the Pu-erh enhances the rich, sweet flavor of the chocolate.

I am also liking the way the orange comes in to play here.  It isn’t a strong orange flavor — it kind of tastes like someone might have squeezed a few drops of fresh orange into my cup.  It brightens the cup just a touch without offering a real pronounced citrus-y flavor.  It tastes a little bit like someone liquefied one of those chocolate oranges and added a little drizzle of the liquid confection into my teacup along with the tea.  Deliciously intriguing.

This is a really well-conceived cuppa … I found it very enjoyable to drink without any additions … although a little bit of turbinado sugar does bring out the spices just a bit and gives a nice sweetness to the chocolate.  I bet it would be good as a latte too … but I found it really delicious without the dairy!  Try it both ways and see which way you like it best … but you’ve got to try this.  This one is a must try for spiced chocolate lovers!
