Blueberry Earl Grey from Ovation Teas is fin-NOM-i-null!

The aroma is INTENSE and I love that about this offering!  This is a party for the senses!

The ingredients are plump and visually-FUN!

The taste is awesome! The Assam and Ceylon is D-Lish!  I LOVE that they blended these two black teas together in this!  The Orange Peel and Blueberries are my favorite!  It’s Citrusy and Berry yet the Earl Grey flavors thrown in and they are all jammin’ well together!

I did three infusions with this.

The 2nd infusion was a tad more orange than berry with the EG still present.  The 3rd infusion there was more blueberry but the berry was more soothing and mellow than before.  The Citrus and EG flavors fell in the background and were subtle but a nice addition to the Blueberry!  There aren’t that many Blueberry EG’s out there…but after tasting this…I’m convinced there SHOULD be…but…be ware…Ovations will be hard to top!

And now through the 28th of August,  Daily Gourmet is offering of 50% savings on the Ovation Teas Summer Set of Teas.  This collection includes this thirst-quenching tea – as well as four other spectacular teas!  Don’t miss out on this special offer!

Wise Man’s Caravan from Indie Tea

Where to Buy:  Indie Tea

Product Description:

Wisdom May Be The Road Less Traveled, But It Beats The Road That Leads To The Unexpected Swamp Filled With Hungry Alligators.

Organic and Fair Trade Ingredients: Organic Assam Black Tea, Organic Cloves, Organic Orange Peel, Organic Cinnamon, Organic Cardamom, Organic White Peppercorn, Organic Allspice, Organic Ginger, Organic Nutmeg, Organic Myrrh, Organic Frankincense.

Taster’s Review:

I must admit that Frankincense and Myrrh are two ingredients with which I have very little (read:  none) experience.  I wouldn’t be able to readily identify either if I were given something that had been spiced with them.  I might have tried something with one or both of the ingredients in it before trying this tea, but, if so, it apparently was memorable.

But that is certainly not the case with this chai!  This is really a delicious and unique chai – and it is indeed memorable.  The black tea base is robust enough to stand out and be noticed amongst these spices without overwhelming them.  It has a pleasant flavor with a nice malty note.

The spices are strong, but they don’t hit you upside the head.  The cloves, cinnamon and cardamom come through most distinctly.  I do like the addition of the allspice and nutmeg, it gives the tea a very solid warmth and pleasant nutty/woody flavor.  The spices come through with very little heat though… this is what I would call a well-seasoned spiced tea rather than a spicy tea.   It’s rustic and unusual.

While I do enjoy ginger, I like that here it is a little subdued.  It doesn’t come on too strong or peppery – it kind of sits back in the background and lets the other spices come out and play.  I also like the hint of orange here.  It isn’t strong, but, it is a nice citrus-y sweetness that lightens up what might otherwise be a very spice-laden cup.

This is a very unusual chai – unusual, but very enjoyable.  Different is good!

Orange Black Tea from Shanti Tea

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: Shanti Tea

Product Description:

Indian black base with natural orange flavor and orange peel.

Our naturally flavored Orange Black tea is made with a base of Indian Black Tea and infused with natural orange flavor and orange peel. The taste is sweet and fruity with the underlying support of a robust black tea. Can be served iced or hot.

Tasters Review:

I’m not really a fan of store-bought orange juice.  Call me spoiled…I only really like, want, and crave freshly squeezed O.J.  Since I don’t live in an area with wonderfully plump and juicy oranges year-round I like to tinker with Orange flavored teas instead!  When I tried this one for the first time I was VERY pleased with my attempt!

Dry I can smell the juicy orange.  Once infused much of the aroma goes away but this brews dark and the black tea taste is yummy.  The orange flavors are at about medium strength and are nicely done.  Not over the top or distracting yet natural and true!

This is a very nicely orange flavored black!  I highly suggest it!

Signature Positiv-A-Tea Blend from Positiv-A-Tea

Tea Type: Herbal

Where To Buy: Positiv-A-Tea

Product Description:

100% Organic
Hand-Blended
USDA Approved
Naturally Decaffeinated

Ingredients:
Hibiscus, Lemon Balm, Rose Petals,
Orange Peel, Cinnamon, Lavender

Tasters Review:

I’m not going to lie…when I was finished infusing this the color of it frightened me!  I was also worried about the Hibiscus – many of you know my trials and tribulations with that ingredient…BUT…

This IS pretty pleasant! I’ve VERY shocked and surprised that the level of hibiscus is what it is!  As it cooled – I could taste more tartiness so I will drink this HOT!  If you are after the fruitier or tartier flavor you might like it cooler.   The Lemon Balm follows it as far as ingredients that pop out a little more than the others but the one that lingers is the Lavender and it’s a pretty lavender as well as a little chewy…if you can picture that!!   The rose and Orange are about equal in taste-intensity and that is subtle.

This is pretty and sassy and different all in one…I think it’s a neat blend and tastes alright!  If you are looking for a positive blend and something that is positively unique…give this one a whirl!

Orange Red Carrot Raw Green Bush Tea from The Republic of Tea

Tea Type: (Green) Rooibos

Where To Buy: The Republic Of Tea

Product Description:

Blended with orange peel, sweet carrot and beetroot bits, Raw Green Rooibos takes on a fresh, wake-up flavor. If you could taste sunshine, it just might taste like this.

Low in tannins, it steeps a unique, gratifying cup — hot or iced.

Tasters Review:

I LOVE that Republic of Tea is thinking outside of the box on these really unique flavors especially with this Raw Green Bush Tea Line!!

The aroma of this Orange Red Carrot Raw Green Bush Tea is mellow yet pleasant.  I could smell mostly orange and carrot but I can tell there were other ingredients in there, too!  The Green Rooibos is perfect in this!  The flavors of the Orange and Carrot are really awesome together, too!  I could taste a V8 type comparison to it or a fresh Carrot Juice, even.  I really liked the Carrot and Orange together!  This is much smoother than I expected it to be.

The only thing I would change would be to intensify the overall flavor.  It’s so tasty I wanted it to be stronger so I tried what I like to call the DOUBLE SHOT!

2 bags = DOUBLE SHOT!!!!

The color was much more vibrant.  The aroma was stronger. The taste was magnified yet still smooth.

I will say that I would probably do this 2-bag method more because I do like it stronger!

What can I say…but…Carrots and Orange! YUM!

It’s a little more beet-like this time around too…using the DOUBLE SHOT Method (or Double Bag Method).

Neat offering!  I really like this!
