One of my favorite things with the cold weather is being able to add spice to everything: cinnamon, cloves, ginger, the more the merrier! One of the best partners to all this spice, is juicy orange and citrus flavors. I love the idea of decorating my home with clove-studded oranges for the holidays to release their sweet and spicy aromas throughout the house. Not to mention, a nice slice of orange is the perfect garnish for a chai-based hot-toddy, with honey and lemon.
These are all the delicious orange and spice combinations I think of when brewing a cup of Orange Spice from PaperBoxGoodies. I’m not entirely sure what all is in this brew, since it’s not currently active on the PBG Etsy shop, but I believe it is an herbal blend from its amber color and sweet taste.
The best part of this blend is that the dry leaf does not contain hibiscus, so the tangy, pink herb can’t take over the blend. The orange is the main ingredient, adding plenty of sweet and tart flavor. This fruity, juiciness is balanced by a large helping of cinnamon, adding its warm, herbal tones. I think I see bits of ginger in the dry leaf, but the flavor is very gentle in the actual brew.
Juicy orange is the main flavor, closely followed by warm cinnamon. Neither ingredient gets too tart or too spicy, and they don’t overpower each other. Ancient Orange from Adagio Teas. . . .
This is a sweet black with vanilla and cream notes. It also, supposedly, has some orange in there, but it’s really faint. I was very careful to make sure some of the orange peels were in there, too. That’s slightly disappointing, but not all that much, because the tea is overall pleasant.
Plus, the packaging. Guys. The packaging.
Its cover illustration is basically the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
It looks like those cartoon cereals my mother would NEVER let me have. Just like those cereals, my mom is a MONSTER. A monster of HEALTH. She has a medical degree, and she seems to think that the whole “being a doctor” thing qualifies her to know that pure sugar shouldn’t be dumped straight into kids’ bodies first thing in the morning.
Phooey.
So I get to enjoy the cereal now, 30 years later, in the form of tea.

Orange Almond from The Tea Can Company. . . . .
I wanted something orange. But more than just orange. Maybe something nutty. Enter Orange Almond from The Tea Can Company. It’s a loose tea inside a sheer silken bag. I just LOVE it when I can see ALL of the ingredients!
On the bag it says Orange Almond from The Tea Can Company has Black Tea, Orange Peel, Apple Pieces, Almond Pieces, Cinnamon Chips, Rose Petals, Cinnamon, Orange Spice flavor, and Orange Flavor.
From the teas I have had so far from The Tea Can Company they have all been impressive with the aroma and flavor to back it up but I have to say that Orange Almond from The Tea Can Company was even more scented and flavored than the others I have tried! This put a smile on my face!
I was able to get 2 steeps out of 1 bag. The first one was INTENSELY flavored. I could taste the orange, almond, and cinnamon ingredients VERY well. The apple contributed to the sweetness but wasn’t overly distinct like the other flavors, however, if it wasn’t there I doubt it would have been as sweet. I think it would have probably been more of a spicier-cinnamon flavor. So I truly believe their was a method to their madness and I would have to say that it was a beaming success!
The 2nd steep was still flavorful but the cinnamon was knock down a notch. The apple seemed to shine more in the 2nd steep and had more of a personality of its own.
This was a MIGHTY flavored black tea that I enjoyed VERY much! If you like orange, spice, and nuts – give this one a whirl!

A tea dedicated to the X-Files?? How great is that!?!
This tea is a lovely green tea with vanilla, orange peels, lemon and orange flavors along with sunflower petals. I nice seemingly calm yet citrus blend. I was actually surprised when I read the description of the tea. I figured a tea dedicated to the X-Files would be more dark or even darker flavors like mocha or hazelnut. But I’m not complaining. This tea sounds fabulous to me. Maybe the green tea represents little green men 🙂
Prepped up my water for this green lovely tea and waited for the tea to steep (about 4 minutes) all the while I enjoyed the lovely dry leave notes from the tin I had received. The notes are fresh citrus notes that scream summertime.
Finally my tea was ready to try and I poured myself a huge cuppa. The first notes I noticed was a lovely vegetal one with a touch of sweetness. Then the gorgeous wave of citrus swept thru. Not a complex tea by any means but one that has a fantastic finish with the vegetal green flavors, the sweet creamy notes of the vanilla and the citrus finish. Each flavor plays nicely with each other and doesn’t dominate by any means. Having that vegetal green tea being the first note you get really elevates the tea. I can almost pick up a hint of an orange dreamsicle. Really lovely.
I wanted to try this tea as an iced tea, hoping that I could pull out of those citrus and vanilla notes. As an iced tea, the vegetal notes are more subtle and the vanilla notes really pop. I think if I make a cold brew out of this, I will get that orange dreamsicle flavor that would be amazing for these summer months.
Overall, loving this tea. Classic tea combo that the majority of people would enjoy. A great starter tea for those who are just getting into tea but also a delicious simple tea for tea enthusiasts. This is a combo that I’ve had a few different times over but have had mixed results. Some have too strong of a vanilla flavor, others not enough citrus. This is a great well blended version!
