Wow. Just wow.
This is another one of the teas I received during my first ever tea-swap. I absolutely love pistachio and I know I have said this in my reviews before. I also really like anything nutty and dessert teas. So, pistachio shortbread was kind of a no brainer choice for me. I can honestly say that this is one of my all-time favorites, hands down, no questions asked. It is definitely my favorite pistachio flavored teas. After my second sip I searched out this company, Tea Source, and tried to see if I could buy more (it is available on their website!!!).
Pistachio Shortbread is a flavored black tea blend. It contains black tea, pistachios, flavor, rose petals, marzipan drops, and almonds. What an amazing list of ingredients, right? Rose petals are often paired with pistachio which I find very interesting, but it is most likely because the floral flavor of the rose really compliments the creamy and nutty flavor of pistachios and even almonds. The addition of marzipan drops is what I think brings this tea to the next level.
The smell of the steeped liquid is definitely marzipan. I can smell the sweet almond and just a slight hint of rose, but mostly just sweet almond and black tea. The first flavor that registered for me was marzipan/sweet almond and the black tea. The almond and marzipan was not overpowering or artificial, though. It was lightly sweet and nutty and reminds me of almond cookies. I can tell that this is where “shortbread” comes in and I do detect a hint of vanilla, which really goes well with sweet almond and rose. The rose follows very quickly. Its not in-your-face with the floral it is just a very small hint. The aftertaste is totally pistachio nut. You can really taste the pistachio upon the finish and it definitely seals the deal for me.
This blend really was done so well. I cant say enough good things about it! If you like biscottis, pistachio ice cream, shortbread, or marzipan you will definitely be into this blend. And if you are unsure whether you like those things or not, you should still try this blend and I guarantee you will be won over. That’s how good it is!

Morning Mojo from The Tea Spot. . . . .
Have you ever taken one sip of a tea and been like “yuuuup, I’m going to have to buy a vat of this and keep it in an armed fortress just for myself”?
That’s how I felt about this tea, a super-creamy vanilla/orange pu’erh/black confection. It’s perfectly balanced, like a ninja poised to strike another ninja. (Because that obviously requires extra stealth). There’s the sweetness of the vanilla against the tangy of the orange and the earthy of the pu’erh and the depth of the black.
The flavors are like constructive criticism, which starts and ends with a compliment, and offers helpful advice in the middle. It’s like hearing “hey, sweetie, honeydew, WAKE THE HELL UP, lovely. Today’s going to be fine.”
And you know what? Today is, as promised, just fine so far.
Here’s the scoop!

Wake the F* Up from Modest Mix. . . .
-Please be warned: There is profanity in this review. Thanks!-
The tea brand Modest Mix is not for the delicate of spirit. Their company’s tagline is “We’re f*cking awesome.” Their teas are named things like “Wake the F*ck Up,” “Sorry To Hear You’re Such A P*ssy,” “Dumbass,” and, my favorite: “Lemon and Mint Just Banged In Your Mouth.”
The censorship stars are just there for your delicate eyes. They aren’t on Modest Mix’s site. I’m going to stop using them shortly, because they’re a hassle to type, so if you need to, go find some pearls to clutch. Because we’re going in.
Modest Mix’s About Us site portion says “Yes, we swear a lot. Yes, we’re sorta rude. But that doesn’t take anything away from our love of tea.”
Did they just describe my entire personality? Yes. Yes they did.
I picked this tea first out of my samples box it was hilarious and I was tired. I’m less tired now. You know why? Because this tea is, true to its name, waking me the fuck up. The specific description for this tea is “Get your sexy ass energized, cause you’re a fucking winner. GO FUCKING WIN! High fucking five.” Yeah. I’m starting to get there. My day is beginning to accelerate.
This tea is a deep, rich Assam/English Breakfast with some root flavoring and spices. If Notorious B.I.G. were a tea, he’d be this one. It’s low and big and rich and smooth. This tea works on a deeper, behind-the-scenes level. It’s not a sugar rush. It’s like when you’re listening to a rap song you’ve heard a million times and realize that one of the rhymes is clever on another level you hadn’t noticed before. There’s more to this tea, underneath.
If you do decide you’d like to try this tea, here are the instructions: 1. SHAKE BAG TO MIX SHIT UP. 2. BOIL WATER. (If you have to get all specific, heat to 208 °F – 212 °F) 3. USE 1 SCOOP (3G) TEA PER 6 OZ WATER. 4. STEEP FOR 3-8 MINUTES IN A MUSLIN TEA BAG (PROVIDED), OR USE A FRENCH PRESS (which is the best in our un-humble opinion). 5. DRINK. 6. WAKE THE FUCK UP. Delicious!

Butter Truffle from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co . . . . .
Butter Truffle from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co HAD ME at first sniff! It smells like cookies, or cake, or coffee cake, or something cakey and bakey…darn it…now I want something dessert-like. Since I don’t eat those often (or close to {n}ever) I will sip on Butter Truffle from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co, instead.
This flavored black tea is INCREDIBLY aromatic! It’s savory and spicy, too! The orange is juicy and I welcome it. The spices are done nicely and NOT overly done. The pistachios are what make it ‘buttery’ and even smooths out the end of the sip to finish a little creamy. Sure – this has nuts in it – but it doesn’t have dairy in it and for that I am grateful!
I don’t eat baked goods hardly ever because of the dairy and eggs in them and I am NOT a baker myself so when I crave something like that I tend to reach for a flavored tea that would fit the bill instead. Butter Truffle from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co is one of those teas! YUM!
Nichole and I try and share everything with our other sisters here at Sororitea Sisters and Butter Truffle from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co will be one of those teas that will be hard to pry from my hands! I will pass this one along – of course – but with a tear in my eye as I say goodbye!
