Unboxing October’s Tea Box Express Monthly Box

I have always loved and enjoyed Tea Box Express. In my opinion, this box is one of the better tea monthly subscription boxes you can sign up for. Not only do they curate fresh amazing teas from a vast array of tea companies, but you also receive additional tea related goodies like cookies, tea accessories, and even beauty products.  Each monthly is expertly curated providing any tea enthusiasts with a wonderful array of tea fun to enjoy.

It seems like October’s box was curated just for me! This month there was a tea from JusTea, sea salt caramels, a tea to be used for a facial (that can also be steeped up like an herbal), and a lovely wooden spoon.

The tea was brilliant and gave so much love. I actually have started drinking this tea daily and will be sad when the bag is empty.  Never having JusTea before, I wasn’t sure what to expect.  But this Mount Kenya Black Tea was smooth, silky, well balanced and so full of flavor.  I found myself gulping this tea down cup after cup.  Another wonderful reason why Tea Box Express is perfect for any tea enthusiast.  You  may get a chance to experience teas you may never have thought of trying or had a chance to try as is the case with this tea for me.

My next favorite goodie was the sea salt caramels from  Liddabit Sweets.  They were insanely gooey with that
sweetness tangled and a hint of salt complimenting the flavor nicely.   Unfortunately, these went crazy fast at my house. Between myself, my hubby, and my stepsons, these were gone in just a few days.  But I do have plans on picking more up for the holidays.  They will make great little add on gifts or stocking stuffers.

I have yet to try the facial steam or even brew the tea up like an herbal. I’m waiting for a time when I can properly pamper myself with a good book and a few minutes where I can just relax.

As for the wooden spoon (also from JusTea) -its a wonderful accessory to have. I’ve enjoyed using it for my impromptu tea parties that I’v been enjoying with this tea box.

All in all, October’s box was perfect. Each piece fits perfectly into my tea drinking itinerary.  For the price, you are getting an amazing value and array of treats. I am looking forward to what November’s box will bring!

Spicy Caramel Apple Cinnamon Herbal from Plum Deluxe

Living in the Midwest has spoiled me, you guys. I recently left my full-swing-of-fall homestate for a business trip to Texas, and was shocked when I stepped off the plane and was greeted with a wall of thick humidity the likes of which we hadn’t seen near the Great Lakes for months. You see, the second the first cool breeze and slightly orange-tinged leaf make their first appearances here in September, I’ve busted out my entire (vast– trust me.) collection of scarves, colorful tights, and obviously– autumnal teas 🙂

This limited plumdeluxeteaedition autumn blend from Plum Deluxe hit all the necessary checkpoints for a perfect seasonal blend– spicy? Check. Slightly sweet? Yessir. Caramel-y smooth? Done and done. Upon first blend, my cup is evocative of an afternoon in the orchards– the apple notes are present and delightfully smooth. I will say the second steeping loses the apple for me, but the cinnamon remains, and it certai
nly can carry this tea on its own. Whether autumn is in full swing where you are, or you’re sweating it out in the sunshine and greenery, this tea is a great one to carry you through the season!

Happy Pumpkin Tea from October’s Amoda Tea Monthly Box

It’s that time of year again: pumpkin season! I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a sucker for all things pumpkin spice, so it’s no surprise that I’m drinking pumpkin tea. But with all the ridiculous pumpkinacolpyse products that come out this time of year, let’s see how Happy Pumpkin Tea from Amoda teas holds up.

For one, this tea has actual pumpkin as a main ingredient. You can actually see orange pumpkin pieces in the dry leaf, and the starchy, sweet potato flavor is forward in the hot brew.

monthlyboxIn addition to the usual spice suspects– cinnamon, ginger, and cloves– the blend also has allspice and cocoa nibs. The allspice builds on the traditional chai flavors, giving an unexpected peppery note, most prevalent in the fragrance. The cocoa nibs play well with the pumpkin, bringing out a brown sugar sweetness from both ingredients. Ceylon black tea gives this blend body and brews up surprisingly smooth.

Happy Pumpkin Tea is definitely worth a try for any pumpkin enthusiast.

We just wanted to take a moment and welcome MrsPremise to the SororiTea Sisters! We hope you enjoy her reviews as much as we do!

Pina Colada Green Tea Blend from Bruu Tea

Our Sister’s Thoughts:

Hello Steeping Friends!

Today I bring you a review from Bruu Tea, a UK based company that ships worldwide and offers an array of their own creative tea blends. Pina Colada Green was one of three tea’s chosen from my Tea Club box that arrived today and is my first taste of Bruu Tea. I find their style rather quirky, as well as receiving three teas (the others being Vietnam OP and Brazilian Blend) I also received a random flag (Somalia), a cocktail umbrella, a party blower and a chocolate coin; needless to say an Olympic theme was in mind with this months package. Either way it made for a nice change to have some personality in a club pack. Pina Colada was chosen as a random tea to review for SororiTea Sisters.

Ingredients: Green Tea, Coconut Chips, Pineapple Pieces and Sunflower Petals.

The packet itself is see through so I can see the blend with ease, as such I can pick out each of the ingredients listed. The green tea itself does have some stems/sticks and is roughly broken resulting in a quick steeping time.

Opening the packed I am hit with pineapple and coconut, more perfumed than soapy *thankfully* and a sweetness that lingers in my nostrils. Pina Colada heaven. (Starts singing “If you like Pina Colada’s, and getting caught in the rain”).

Steeping wise this had some handy instructions on the front for those unsure. It states 1tsp of leaf in 80C water for 2-3 minutes. I did 2 minutes as I indicated earlier that the green tea leaves were quite small and wouldn’t need long, I would hate for it to be bitter.

Once steeped a cloudyish yellow liquid is produced with a mild grass and pineapple scent.

Leaving it to cool slightly I take a sip, it’s subtle in overall flavour despite the strong scent but I can taste the green tea, the pineapple and the coconut. The green tea base is soft, slightly bitter yet buttery (like a Chinese Sencha though I cannot be sure which green tea it is) but behind that is a subtle yet slightly sweet and perfumed pineapple with an ever softer coconut cream in the after taste. I like that I can taste the green tea and it is not overpowered by the fruit.

Half a cup down and it’s slightly dry in the after taste with an increase on perfume; but it leaves such a delicate Pina Colada-esque flavour in my mouth it makes up for them. You can also notice a slight toasting of the green leaves part way down the cup which compliments the blend, making it non too sweet.

Overall I would say I am impressed. On the negative side I thought that it could have been a bit stronger but on the other side I sort of like that it wasn’t, if I have a nice green tea base I want to taste it. Perhaps I can try a double strength next steep and see what happens, or try the 3 minute marker. Either way I know I will be using the rest of this tea up pretty sharpish. Also it gave notes to try this tea iced and I think that just screamed winning idea.

Until next time,

Happy Steeping!

Taster’s Review:

52TeasBoxI’ve reviewed a ton of 52Teas for SororiTea Sisters and CuppaGeek. I love them and highly recommend their teas.  When you purchase from 52Teas, you know you are getting a quality blend that was made with love and care from someone who has a passion for tea and tea blending.

I will admit tho, I have never subscribed to the monthly service. Shame on me! Reason? Well, I am very much against red rooibos. It is one of those ingredients that (for me) once that ingredient is in the blend, it ruins the tea.  No matter what else is in it. There has only been one blend that I have enjoyed red rooibos in.   I also am not the biggest fan of ginger or chai teas so basically what I’m saying is that I’m picking up what I get. I do subscribe to Handmade Tea and Plum Deluxe so I do take a gamble here and there.  After this month’s box that I received.. . . I will more than likely start subscribing.52TeasTeas

Having never rec’d a box from 52Teas before, I wasn’t sure what to expect.  I loved opening the box and seeing a special note or the tea menu, outlining all the tea that was in the box and a little description of each flavor.  This is a great way to learn more about what teas are in your box at a glance.

This box featured five different teas- Blackberry Zomba Green Tea, Raspberry Almond Cookie Honeybush, Rose Mango Daiquiri, Bananas Foster Black Tea, and Coconut Flan Genmaicha.  My tea kettle is just itching to start prepping the water for these mouth watering teas!

RaspberryAlmond2My eyes went instantly to the Blackberry Zomba Green Tea. That sounded like heaven to me.   Green tea, blackberries, and other organic flavors. . .sign me up.  I quickly set the kettle to green tea setting and began the prep to check this tea out.  This tea was amazing! Simply fabulous.  Sweet yet vegetal like green tea with a gorgeous blackberry finish.  Like the description says, simple straight forward tea. And wow, is it ever good.  So good that I instantly emailed Anne and said I needed a larger size.

RaspberryAlmond3The next tea I tried was the Raspberry Almond Cookie Honeybush.  Do yourself a favor. Check this tea out right now! I’m surprised there is even some of this left.  This tea is just dynamite! I had talked to Anne about this tea and she told me it was good. I think she underrated it a bit by saying good. This tea has lovely fruity berry notes of raspberry with a solid nutty finish that gives you that baked cookie feel. Holy tea kettles! This tea is a winner and one that I may need a larger size of as well.

RaspberryAlmondI have yet to try the remaining teas due to a crazy work schedule but I will be fixing that soon.  From the experience I’ve had with these teas so far, this is a winning box.  The teas are fresh and each pops with its own unique character and flavor.  I’m crazy impressed with the presentation and the little menu you get in the monthly box as well.  A simple touch that gives the recipient a warm fuzzy and shows that the ladies behind 52Teas care!

After this experience, I’ll be signing up for sure to start receiving this box myself.  A great way to keep getting these unique and fun teas without worrying about ordering them on time and missing out. I’ve missed out on blends before.  By signing up for this box, you don’t have to worry about that!
