Tasters Review:
I’m always interested in Mint Chocolate Chip Flavored stuff! I have to admit…I just think chocolate and mint are genius together…generally speaking!
BUT…when it comes to this flavored rooibos…it doesn’t let me down! It’s intensely flavored and smells AWESOMELY AWESOME! I know that is redundant and not the most creative phrasing for an official tea/tisane review but it DOES fit the bill…trust me!
I can see all of the ingredients and something that looks like dried apple but I don’t see that in the list of ingredients so maybe what I am seeing is a vanilla bean or something.
The taste is a nice, bold, strong Chocolate and Mint Mix. It does hide quite a bit of the Rooibos taste but paired with the vanilla makes for a milky-smooth ending and aftertaste.
This is very good! I like this a lot! And I mean A LOT!
As it cools the chocolate becomes more malty…almost like a chocolate milk shake type malty…this aspect of the taste interests me as I don’t recall having that happen to me in other tea/tisanes.
This without a doubt made it to my mid 90 percentile of favorites!
Nostalgia Dong Ding Oolong with Jasmine & Fresh Mint from Aftelier Perfumed Teas
Leaf Type: Oolong
Where to Buy: Aftelier Perfumed Teas
Product Description:
Rich and complex charcoal-roasted Tung-Ting oolong tea produces a fruity aroma that is exquisite with the cool mint and rich jasmine. These rolled leaves provide up to 4 infusions.
Taster’s Review:
This tea is very interesting.
First of all, as a cup of this tea sits before me, it smells amazing. Like intoxicatingly (I don’t know if that was a word before now, but it is one now!) amazing. But with such an enchanting smell … I become a little apprehensive when it comes to taking a sip. What if it’s too perfume-y?
After all, it is a perfumed tea. That alone sort of indicates that it might come across as perfume-y tasting.
However, it doesn’t. The perfume melds with the buttery creaminess of the Oolong tea to create one of the most unusual yet delightful teas I’ve tasted in a very long time. The Oolong has a slightly roasted back note that seems to tie all the flavors together quite nicely. It’s a very unified taste.
That is not to say that the jasmine is not strong, because it is. It is quite strong (this tea is for jasmine lovers only!) and tastes very floral. But it tastes like a natural floral flavor; not a chemical-y, artificial-tasting, lab-recreated perfume.
The mint is quite a bit more subtle, but the flavor of it develops as I continue to sip. Similarly, the scent of the mint develops as I continue to smell the tea. The first couple of times I could barely smell the mint, and now it is more prominent, although it is still not as strong as the jasmine.
I recommend brewing this in a gaiwan – using short steep times. 30 seconds (or less) for the first infusion; increase by 15 seconds for each subsequent infusion. Any longer and you may wind up with a very strong jasmine taste.
If you love jasmine (and I do!) this tea is the ULTIMATE. You really must try it!
Yerba Maté Mint from Choice Organic Teas
Leaf Type: Yerba Maté
Where to Buy: Choice Organic Teas
Product Description:
Perk up with this refreshing twist on the traditional. Renowned for its natural kick, yerba maté grows in subtropical South America and has been enjoyed by gauchos for generations. We blend ours with peppermint, spearmint and a hint of lemongrass for a bright tea that’s light, cool and exhilarating. [contains caffeine]
Taster’s Review:
Exhilarating is right! The yerba maté is energizing, while the peppermint and spearmint is crisp and refreshing. Put these ingredients together and you’ve got one very exhilarating beverage, indeed!
This tisane is nicely balanced. It is minty, but not too minty. The yerba maté is slightly earthy but the mint offsets it enough so that it is easy to drink and not too earthy or vegetative. The lemongrass offers just a hint of citrus tones to the cup and adds an interesting dimension to the cup. There’s even a light tangy note from the citrus right at the finish that remains in the aftertaste.
And I really like the company. It is one that I really feel good about supporting, because not only are they organic and committed to the protection of our environment, but they also are involved with really good causes, such as the Jane Goodall Institute, a non-profit organization that is committed to the preservation of the lives and habitat of primates.
It is a very good tea and a tea I can feel good about!
Moroccan Sunset from Indie Tea
Leaf Type: Green
Where to Buy: Indie Tea
Product Description:
Gunpowder Green Tea With Peppermint and Safflower Petals.
The Word Exotic Can Have Many Meanings. When It Comes To Tea, Think Of An Adventurous Journey To A Far Away And Unfamiliar Environment… The Other Meanings We’ll Leave To Your Imagination.
Taster’s Review:
This is one of the better mint flavored green teas I’ve encountered lately. There is such a pleasant balance of tastes.
The gunpowder green tea is a strong component, but, it isn’t overwhelmingly grassy or vegetative. There is a soft, fresh taste that is somewhat “green” – a little vegetative but not really so much like vegetables or even grass… just somewhat… leafy in taste.
It is a gentle taste that I really enjoy – a surprisingly good flavor from gunpowder green! Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy a good quality gunpowder green, however, sometimes, gunpowder greens come off very vegetative. This one is not. I don’t know if it is because of the peppermint in the blend, or that it is just a gunpowder green of exceptional quality (or perhaps a combination of the two), but, this is one of the better gunpowder green teas that I’ve encountered.
The peppermint flavor is also strong, but, it isn’t overpowering. It tastes minty, but it doesn’t taste mouthwash-y or medicinal in any way. It just has a fresh, clean taste that melds perfectly with the gunpowder green tea. It is a well-blended tea!
The safflower petals in this blend do not lend much in the way of taste, although they certainly do give the blend a very pretty appearance. While this isn’t quite as unique a blend as some of the others I’ve tried from Indie tea (there are a lot of peppermint green teas out there), it is delicious and one of the better mint green teas I’ve tasted lately. Kudos to Indie Tea!

Tasters Review:
I just received this one today and tore it open right away. This isn’t uncommon for me to do, mind you, I’m so eager to try new teas…I usually can’t stand waiting!
Many of you know my trials and tribulations with chai. Either the spices are too strong, not strong enough, one or more ingredient is stronger over the others and distracts me from fully enjoying my cuppa…the list goes on and on!
I swear this specific chai was made especially for me. Well, that’s my story and I am sticking to it, anyways! The spices are PERFECTLY done to my liking and it has MINT…lovely, lovely MINT! You know how I LOVE mint! It’s not over the top mint…it’s JUST RIGHT!
Many of you know I drink all of my teas plain including chai. This is perfect plain but the company states it’s great with or without additions.
I love the fact that it’s organic and Fair Trade! I LOVE the concept of this company! Their customer service is wonderful! Their website is very nice! I wish I lived near San Fran…I would be a daily customer to the cart! In the meantime, I am completely enjoying this CHAI piece of art! YUM!
I’m declaring this my FAVORITE Chai to date!
