Taster’s Review:

Ah!  This Southern Mint Herbal Tea from Revolution Tea is so crisp and refreshing!  It’s a great tisane to sip after a spicy meal, it helps calm the tummy!

The mint used in this tisane is an estate grown pure Egyptian peppermint.  It has a very fresh and exhilarating taste … and even though it is very invigorating to drink, it is naturally caffeine free so it won’t overstimulate me before bedtime.

The taste is clean and pure.  It freshens the mouth and leaves my mouth feeling refreshed and I can already feel it calm my stomach after eating spicy tacos!  It’s a nice, natural way to freshen the palate while relaxing the tummy.  This is the kind of tisane I like to keep on hand for times like this … and I also like to keep it on hand because my daughter loves peppermint tea and this one from Revolution tea is one of the better ones I’ve tried.

New Sensation Tisane from Hari Tea

NewSensation

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Herbal Tisane

Where to Buy:  Hari Tea

Tea Description:

What adult doesn’t look back and wistfully remember a time when he or she had more plentiful energy?  We spend enormous amounts of time and money trying to satisfy the longing for the feeling of newness – eagerness to take on life with no thought of limitation.  We love the old feeling of a new sensation.  And we certainly love the refreshing taste of hibiscus and mint.

Taster’s Review:

As I was reading the above description, I couldn’t help but think … no, I certainly do not love the taste of hibiscus.  Sorry … but hibiscus is just one of those things that does not do it for me.  So, I took on this New Sensation Tisane from Hari Tea with a bit of dread … feeling certain I would really dislike it.

And … even though I can’t sit here and say I love it … I don’t hate it either.  It’s not bad.

This bagged tisane (a nifty little woven fabric bag, I like these because they don’t end up imparting a funky “paper” taste to the brewed liquid) isn’t something that I’m going to jump up and down and get all excited over … but, after steeping for five minutes, I like that the hibiscus and the mint are balanced enough so that I’m not tasting this overwhelming tart flavor nor do I get a heavy, syrupy-thick texture.  It is thicker than say a pure mint tisane would be because the hibiscus does give the cup a slightly heavier consistency.  But, after steeping for five minutes, it did not get too heavy, thick or syrupy.

And I like that the mint offsets some of the tart of the hibiscus too.  This is neither too minty nor too hibiscus-y.  It has a really nice balance between the two herbs.  It is just a little bit tart, and a little bit zesty from the mint.

Overall, it’s a drinkable beverage.  Not one that I’d probably want to drink every night or anything, but I would drink it again if it were offered to me.  A nice surprise!

MintGrass Tisane from The Teaologist

MintGrass

Tisane Information:

Leaf Type:  Herbal Tisane

Where to Buy:  Amoda Tea

Tisane Description:

This tea is about the balance of its parts. Straightforward in its ingredients, uncommon in its composition. Bits of mint tingle the tongue, sticks of lemongrass refresh the palate and hints of chamomile calm the body. Slice up some ginger to add some spice. Stir in honey to sweeten the pot. Simplicity can be versatile.

Taster’s Review:

This is the second tea from this month’s Amoda Tea Tasting Box that I’ve tried, and even though it’s a tisane (and I really would prefer that Amoda start including more TEAS in these boxes instead of tisanes), I am still finding this MintGrass Tisane from The Teaologist an enjoyable cuppa.

There is a really lovely balance of peppermint, lemongrass and chamomile in this blend.  The peppermint is crisp and cooling – very refreshing!  But I like that the other two ingredients here soften the vigor of the peppermint just enough so that it doesn’t taste too minty.  Sure, the peppermint is a strong component to this blend, but, I don’t feel like I’m drinking liquefied toothpaste.

The lemongrass offers a really lovely, bright citrus-y note.  It tastes faintly of lemon – but it’s a mild lemon taste – not really so tart as it is sweet, but there is a hint of tartness toward the finish that leads into the aftertaste.

The chamomile adds a touch of floral sweetness.  Of the three components of this blend, the chamomile is the most discreet, but it does manage to make its presence known in the sip.  There is a distinct “chamomile-ness” to the cup, but what I’m liking is that this doesn’t taste like a chamomile blend … if you get my meaning.  So often when you brew a chamomile blend – there is a very heavy presence of chamomile … while here the chamomile is more subdued and allows the peppermint and lemongrass to do their thing in their own way.

Overall, this is a very enjoyable tisane, and I can definitely see the relation that this tisane has with this month’s Amoda Box theme – which is St. Patrick’s Day/Spring (this tisane being related to the spring part of the theme)  It definitely has a fresh, spring-time kind of flavor!

Taster’s Review:

Gad if only I had not just eaten two HUGE jalapenos with peanut butter! I could surely enjoy Shamrocks and Shenanigans from Della Terra Teas even more! However knowing that I did just eat those devil jalapenos and knowing I can still taste this delicious tea – you know it must be really very good!

This is a seasonal blend from Della Terra Teas so get it while you can! I know I sure miss my all time favorite seasonal blend from them – Eight Candles! I hope it will be back next year! Regardless this is a good one! It has a lovely vanilla backdrop to a minty and yet chocolatey yummness!

Love the cute little green shamrock sprinkles!

I realize this review will post after St. Patties Day but you may want to go check because Della Terra Teas always has amazing sales and since the holiday is now passed it very well could be discounted!

As I sip on this tea longer the burn from the jalapenos is subsiding and I am tasting more of the chocolate note, where before I was picking up more on the vanilla. This is a mild flavored tea which is comforting and sweet, but not overly so. I really like the chocolate note as it tastes very natural due to the use of cocoa nibs.

This tea is really making me want to give Della Terra’s Swiss Mountain a try! I can’t recall if I have tried it before. Its another chocolate mint tea – without vanilla from Della Terra. You can find that one here.

The mint in this tea is light but notable and a real tummy saver as well. I am sure I will be appreciating that later today!

So points for a good chocolate note, points for a lovely vanilla note, points for it not being overdone on the mint, and points for a good base that I can taste but allows the flavors to do their work since the flavors are somewhat relaxed and mellow.

This isn’t an end all be all in your face flavored tea that says POW but it is a very enjoyable cup when you want mint, vanilla, and chocolate, without feeling your having a typical dessert tea. It is more like an after dinner tea.

Taster’s Review:

Minty!  This Dragon Mint Rooibos Blend from Shanti Tea is for those of us you who really love mint!

The mint flavor here is strong!  So strong that it nearly overpowers the rooibos.  And in my opinion, that’s not a bad thing, especially since rooibos aren’t my favorite thing.  This blend has just enough rooibos to add just a little something extra to the cup – a pleasing nutty tone in the background – without adding that sometimes “off” or funky taste that comes from rooibos.

Then there is the PEPPERMINT!  It is really zesty and invigorating!  And yes, it does have a very minty taste, but, perhaps it’s that nutty note that is in the background … but I am not thinking “toothpaste” or “mouthwash” as I sip this.  It is definitely fresh tasting … and leaving my mouth feeling fresh and clean.  But it’s more like a breath mint to me than an oral hygiene product.

A pleasant cuppa served hot or cold!
