Raspberry Matcha from Tea’s Me

There were a few days recently where winter temperatures let up and I was able to go out in the sun with fewer layers and coats. Sunny days like that really put you in the mind for spring. When the weather gets warmer, I trade in my hot morning cup of black tea for a refreshing cup of iced matcha green tea.

Matcha teas come in powdered form and can be used in milk for frothy lattes, in smoothies for a healthy boost, or whisked in a bowl for a traditional style.  Raspberry matcha from Tea’s Me Company is pre-sweetened with cane sugar and real fruit flavors, and is the perfect matcha for desserts, lattes, and smoothies. Even with the included sugar, the tea is not too candy-like, and it stays true to form, truly tasting like fresh raspberries. There’s not much in the way of green, grassy matcha in this tea, the green tea stays in the background and lets the raspberry take the lead.
If you’re looking for a traditional matcha experience, this may be too sweet for you, but if you’re in the mood for something refreshing and berry-sweet, it will be a great tea to try. I drank this, shaken, with just iced water, but it could easily be made into a dessert with milk and raspberry syrup. Or this would add a sweet, fruity kick to a morning smoothie or shake. I’ve seen a lot of vanilla or chocolate flavored matchas, but raspberry is a bit harder to come by.  It makes Raspberry Matcha from Tea’s Me Company a nice sunny-day treat!

Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals. . . . .

So far…I haven’t tried a product from Sen Cha Naturals I haven’t liked…or should I say…LOVED!? I figured it was about time I reviewed the Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals.

Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals is what the company calls ‘a true original’ because of the classic green tea latte with their own personal twist as it ‘goes nuts for coconut!’ Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals is perfectly creamy, while still being bright and vegetal at the same time. I agree with their website and product description that Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals is a decadent treat for matcha lovers and green tea novices alike.

Just like Sen Cha’s other Matcha Latte Products…it’s a frothy, matcha latte you can enjoy – with no milk required. They’ve once again done away with the diglycerides and hydrogenated nonsense for a cleaner version of the decadent drink mix. They say it’s a satisfying indulgence they’re sure you’ll find a whole latte better and I tend to agree!

With just a few ingredients this is REALLY impressive! Organic Coconut Sugar, Organic Coconut Oil, Algae Flour, Organic Matcha Powder, Green Tea & Vanilla Extracts. As you can see this is a gluten free product – as well as – a vegan labeled product, too!

I’ve enjoyed a cup each of the hot and cold method. For HOT just Mix 2 scoops with 8-10 oz of hot water and stir or shake. For ICED all you have to do is Mix 2 scoops with 8-10 oz of water and stir or shake. Pour over ice. BAM! There is your naturally creamy Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals! YUMMO!

Ganymede Matcha Tea Blend by MoongleamTeaShoppe

Hello Tea Friends!

My head is spinning at the idea of a Matcha, cocoa, mint, and orange peel combination and it’s something I have no idea of what to expect. Frankly that is why I chose this blend to try, not only is it original but it’s also from a small Etsy store and I love to give smaller businesses a chance.

So lets have a look at the tea. what can I say?…It’s medium sized pieces of what I assume is cocoa and orange peel covered in a green Matcha dust with a few rough looking chopped leaves. It looks as adventurous as it sounds. Scent wise it smells chocolatey yet dry.

I think I will steep this at roughly 75C (on the milder side) and hope that the Matcha doesn’t become too astringent. But I still want to get the best out of the other ingredients so I don’t want to go too mild. Steeping time will also be a fairly quick 20  seconds. This is going in completely blind on a guess, I imagine it’s one of those teas you have to try and alter to taste and experiment with. But for now those are my parameter choices.

As soon as the water goes in the mint fills my nostrils and bursts through the cocoa. The colour is dark green and cloudy (thank you Matcha) and it bares a strong mint chocolate scent. It looks like used paint water but looks can be deceiving.

Okay so the first sip reveals bitter mint with some sweetness and some creamy cocoa behind it, leading to a dry yet refreshing after taste. The astringency is from the Matcha I think but it quickly fades into a creamy undertone before finishing with softer mint. It’s actually so rich it’s more like a black tea base than green. The orange is lost on me though.

A second steep with the same parameters reveals: less bitterness making it creamier and sweeter, the mint still being forefront. This is more like a traditional mint green tea with a touch of cocoa. Still dry but so easy to drink.

Think of it as a mint chocolate tea with some Matcha goodness thrown in for good measure. A strange combination but it actually makes a nice change to try something so different. My husband said it’s like a chocolate ice lolly that has melted a bit.

So unusual but nice, worth the try and I am happy to have tried a sample. If you’re looking for something different then it’s definitely worth a try.

Happy Steeping!

Ever Been Curious about Steeped Tea? Matcha Green Tea from Steeped Tea

Matcha Green Tea from Steeped Tea is straight-up matcha! That’s right…Green Tea Powder…as many of you already know!

There really isn’t a LOT to say about Matcha Green Tea from Steeped Tea but I will certainly try. It’s a more mellow tasting matcha that is for sure. It’s smooth, too! The natural creaminess is nice! Matcha Green Tea from Steeped Tea smells like green beans and tastes like green beans.

I guess one of the reasons I like straight-up matchas and like to spend some time with them is to see how they are alike but also differ. I’ve had some vegetal matchas before. Some that have tasted like specific vegetables such as peas, artichokes, various leafy greens, even, but Matcha Green Tea from Steeped Tea is a fine example of a straight forward green bean flavor found in a stand alone matcha!

This was nice hot or cold. It was an easy cup to drink! The matcha dissolved nicely in the hot water! A great starter matcha for sure!
