Taster’s Review:

This is a tea that I’ve wanted to try for some time now – after all, I’ve read so many raving reviews of it on Steepster.  And now, thanks to my SororiTea Sister – I can try it!

The aroma of this tea is alive with floral notes and faint hints of fruit.  And the flavor of the tea is even more vibrant than its fragrance.

The floral essence of this tea is very strong – in fact, if you have a dislike for floral tasting teas, this tea is not the tea for you.  Fortunately, I happen to adore floral teas.

The black tea base is brisk and provides an excellent backdrop for the flowery taste of the tea.  I am also tasting a berry-ish flavor to this blend – it tastes like strawberry to me.  It is a very delicious contrast to the floral notes.

As delicious as this tea is, I feel that it is important to caution you not to use too much leaf with this particular blend.  I found that with more leaf, the flavors became overwhelmingly sharp.  The flavors do soften a bit as they cool, so if your cup does happen to start out a bit sharp for your taste buds, just let it cool slightly and I think you’ll find that the flavor becomes more palatable.

I am very glad I had this opportunity to try this tea.  It is fabulous and makes me very curious about some of the other blends that Mariage Frères has to offer.
