Like many other tea companies, Lupicia offers specialty teas for Christmas. This is one of those specialty teas and I was delighted when I came across this tea bag. For one thing, I have had this before and from what I remember I enjoyed it, so I was happy to revisit it once again. And, for another thing, Lupicia has some of the most adorably packaged tea bags out there (second only to Tea Trunk’s super cute elephant teabags perhaps). This particular tea bag depicts a chipmunk and a cat working together to make a strawberry shortcake so that’s pretty awesome.
Sipping on it now, it reminds me just how much I don’t love Lupicia’s black tea base. Lupicia makes delicious rooibos blends and they have some of the best flavored oolongs on the market but for some reason their black tea always tends to take over their softer and more subtle flavorings. It is somehow smooth yet astringent and creates a heaviness that is out of place next to the more delicate notes of strawberry and vanilla. Those flavor notes, however, are this tea’s saving grace. The vanilla is creamy while the strawberry is more like strawberry flavoring, the sweet and artificial candy-like flavor that is akin to strawberry milkshakes.
Ultimately, this has a good flavor to it but the base takes over and pulls out the more processed quality of this tea. I enjoyed the cup though I have had much better offerings from Lupicia in the past. In fact, I have had a strawberry/vanilla green tea from Lupicia that I recall liking a great deal. All in all, it makes for a nice cup of tea but I don’t think I will be seeking this out anytime soon.

Cache Cache from Lupicia. . . . .
“CACHE-CACHE” means “hide-and-seek” in French. I’m horrible at French so I’m grateful that I could find more about this on the Lupicia Site. Cache Cache from Lupicia is a tea where various flavors are hidden and found. Ingredients include Black tea, Sugar, Orange flower, Pink pepper, Artificial color, Gum arabic, Flavors.
I remember back in 2014 – having tea envy – because LiberTeas sampled and reviewed this one back then. I’m excited it was available once again this past holiday season and I was able to get my hands on it, too!
There seemed to be so many different flavor layers to this tea. I was able to pick up on buttery notes – but also creamy and smooth, too. Just when I thought it was vanilla – the sugar flavor popped in to play. There were subtle spice notes throughout the sip as well. I couldn’t really put my finger (or tongue) on exactly what the spice was that I was tasting. Was it clove? Cardamom? Pink Pepper? What ever it was – it was necessary for the overall flavor profile.
This one is special. I wish it was available all year round. I’m thinking it would be a hit – and NOT just around the holidays!

Darjeeling The Second Flush from Lupicia. . . . .
Darjeeling – The Second Flush certainly grabbed my attention as I was trying to decide which black tea to start my day off with recently. It was then I noticed Darjeeling The Second Flush was one of the Lupicia teas I still had yet to try!
When it comes to a Darjeeling – what can you really say that hasn’t already been said? Many of us know that Darjeeling is considered to be or often called the Champagne of Teas. This specific Darjeeling was Lupicia special blend using summer-plucked Darjeeling. It was fresh and fruity and crisp. Just what I was looking for in a Darjeeling and in a morning tea not too long ago!
Another thing that is notable here with this tea is that it is ONLY available in Lupicia’s online store and Hawaii store.
So if you’re a Darjeeling fan you are going to want to look into this tasty tea! It’s Lupicia’s Darjeeling The Second Flush. Is it calling YOU like it was calling ME? It just might be!

Ginger & Lemon Myrtle from Lupicia. . . . .
Ginger & Lemon Myrtle is a Rooibos and Honeybush blend that I was recently blown away by and it’s rare if I’m this excited about a red rooibos based tisane!
Perhaps it was because of the honeybush addition. Or maybe it is simply because I’m CRAZY for Lemon Myrtle. The possibility of the gentle ginger had something to do with it, too!
The ginger wasn’t overdone. It was more in the background. It was a nice, natural enhancement to the overall flavor and not the focus of the flavor. The Lemon Myrtle really shined here. The rooibos and honeybush blended base offered a nice sweetness to it but was more than ‘just’ a red rooibos base. Regardless this was pretty dandy if you ask me.
I do like this just the way it is – however – I am curious how it would taste if there was crystallized lemon peel or ginger, too! YUM!

Tokio from Lupicia. . . . .
With all of the tea I have consumed over the years I have had very little from Lupicia believe it or not. I’m happy to say that we have some new Lupicia reviews coming up VERY SOON starting with this one…Tokio from Lupicia!
I think this was one of the first Lupicia teas I actually tried years and years ago. I thought I had already reviewed it here at Sororitea Sisters but I was mistaken. So NOW is as good as time as any, I suppose!
Tokio from Lupicia is a green tea with sweet berries. And guess what it DOESN’T have? Hibiscus! YAY! A berry flavored tea with NO Hibiscus! I could not be more excited! This tea also has marigold petals. Together they pose a very crisp tasting flavored green tea. The green tea is on the sweeter side all by itself but the berry and floral notes are a secondary flavor. They aren’t overpowering the green tea base and I LOVE that!
It’s sweet, it’s juicy, it’s berry, it’s floral, it’s refreshing, and it’s SUPER tasty! YUM! Totally terrific hot or cold! Tokio from Lupicia is a real winner!
