Harmony Tea from Mellow Monk. . . .

It’s been a little stressful in my personal and professional life lately and today I just needed a tea to bring everything into perspective for me. Every once in a while I’ll grab a tea and just sit down, tune everything out, and just enjoy what I’m drinking. . .and that is exactly what I did wtih this tea-Harmony Tea from Mellow Monk.

Harmony Tea is a genmaicha that is sadly sold out right now. I’ve always been a huge green tea fan and the first time I had genmaicha, my love for green tea grew even more.  The wonderful buttery richness that this tea offers just relaxes me and really gives me that “zen” moment.

I brewed this tea up according to the recommendations that were provided and in just a minutes, I had myself a lovely pale yellow liquor that I knew would help me move my day along.

This green tea is perfectly named Harmony because it really delivers a perfect harmony of flavors. The rich buttery smoothness with a subtle hint of vegetal towards the end of the sip.  Throughout is a lovely roasted toasted goodness that makes you warm to your toes. Oh the perfect tea to enjoy when you need to wind down and really take a moment for yourself or share with others.

I can sometimes have pretty stressful work days and its nice to take a moment to realize that everything will be ok in the long run and this tea is helping me get to that point. The calmness this tea instills in you is something that if you are a green tea fan, you have to try!

Sometimes the simplest flavors are the ones that truly hit the mark.

Leaf Type: Green Tea
Where to Buy: Mellow Monk
Description

Harmony Tea™ begins with a premium sencha, similar the artisan’s Monk’s Choice green tea, to which is blended just the right amount of flavorful roasted brown rice, to strike a perfect balance between the nuttysavoriness of the rice and the rich, herbaceous artisanal guricha-style tea, so that one flavor doesn’t mask the other. Even the guricha’s overtones of melon and berry are preserved in the overall flavor profile.

Ever Tried a Tea from Grand Tea? We did! 2016 Shi Feng Supreme Dragonwell from Grand Tea

Shi Feng Supreme Dragonwell from Grand tea is a hand-processed green tea from China. Each of the light green leaves are roasted and hand-flattened into perfect little ovals. The first scent that comes forward in the dry leaf is an almost-floral, dark chocolate flavor. Beneath that first chocolate note, there are starchy tones of toasted rice.

I was careful with the temperature of my water to keep from burning the tea leaves, which makes all the difference with green teas. This tea brews up pale yellow and tastes much brighter than the dry leaf smelled. There are citrus and mineral notes, like lemon and coppery pennies. The back of each sip is softer, with more roasted, warming sensations.

I brewed these leaves twice, and found the second steep to be stronger with this toasted flavor, less sweet and more savory. Where the first steep was bright and mineral, the second steep was earthy and toasty. In both brewings the mouthfeel was exceedingly smooth and brought on pleasant feelings of warmth and comfort. Quite a bit of work went into preparing these leaves and the taste and experience of brewing them is well worth the effort.

Tokio from Lupicia. . . . .

With all of the tea I have consumed over the years I have had very little from Lupicia believe it or not. I’m happy to say that we have some new Lupicia reviews coming up VERY SOON starting with this one…Tokio from Lupicia!

I think this was one of the first Lupicia teas I actually tried years and years ago. I thought I had already reviewed it here at Sororitea Sisters but I was mistaken. So NOW is as good as time as any, I suppose!

Tokio from Lupicia is a green tea with sweet berries. And guess what it DOESN’T have? Hibiscus! YAY! A berry flavored tea with NO Hibiscus! I could not be more excited! This tea also has marigold petals. Together they pose a very crisp tasting flavored green tea. The green tea is on the sweeter side all by itself but the berry and floral notes are a secondary flavor. They aren’t overpowering the green tea base and I LOVE that!

It’s sweet, it’s juicy, it’s berry, it’s floral, it’s refreshing, and it’s SUPER tasty! YUM! Totally terrific hot or cold! Tokio from Lupicia is a real winner!

Summertime Sunset from Akron House Tea Co.

Imagine a large crisp cold glass of a lemonade strawberry concoction with an orange twist.  Now imagine this mixture of flavors with a green tea base, smooth rich and buttery. That is what you get when you drink Summertime Sunset from Akron House Tea Co.

Akron House Tea Co. is a newer company to me. I’ve tried a few of their teas and have fallen in love with them. So far I’ve had nothing but crisp clean well balanced flavor.  I will admit that I think this one is my favorite that I’ve tried.

First off, this tea has a gorgeous bright citrus berry aroma.  Literally the aroma makes you drool. I steeped the tea up with water prepped per the recommendations on the pkg.  A few moments later, the brew was ready for me to enjoy.

And enjoy I did. Devour may be a better word. This is one of those teas where I just walk around with my mug and don’t even put it down.  The first notes you are greeted with are these strawberry citrus flavors that mingle and play nicely with the smooth silky green tea base.  The hibiscus in the blend provides a needed contrast with a hint of tartness to calm the lemon tang that is present.

Bright, balanced, vibrant and popping with flavors! Perfectly named and perfectly blended!

I brewed this tea up hot and can only imagine how dynamite this blend would be as a cold brew. Being a huge green tea fan, this one was perfect for me. But I can see this being one of those teas that can be enjoyed by all!

Taster’s Review:

Recently I signed up for BlendBee’s monthly tea subscription and my first box arrived with my 2 teas for the month yesterday.   The first blend I checked out was Fresh Jasmine. (The other was Coco Blue which I well review in a bit so stay tuned!)

Fresh Jasmine consists of green tea, jasmine flowers, hint of spices and lemon.  I opened up the pouch to start prepping the tea and this tea had such a lovely bright candy note.  Think lemon drop candy!

Each package of tea that BlendBee sends you has the steeping parameters laid out for you.  After a few minutes of steeping and allowing the tea to cool, I was ready for my first sip. . which I’ll admit turned into a huge gulp. This blend is incredibly delicious!

Fresh juicy lemon notes pop while the green tea creates the full bodied rich buttery flavor.  The ginger creates a slight contrast that actually fits in well with the rest of the flavors.  As light and gentle as this tea is there are flavors that are bold and vibrant.  And honestly, as flavor goes-this tea does remind me of a lemon drop. Sweet and candy like.

Since this tea showed up at more door yesterday, I have already enjoyed about 10 infusions of this tea. I can’t seem to stay away from the blend.

All in all, I am crazy impressed with this tea and I’m incredibly happy with my decision to go with BlendBee.  For the price of two drinks at my local coffee shop, I get 30 cups of this (and another) amazingly fresh cuppas to enjoy.
