Taster’s Review:

Pink Rose Lemonade from The Tea Spot…that just sounds lovely, doesn’t it?  Well…it IS!  I’m usually not BIG on herbal tisanes but this Pink Rose Lemonade from The Tea Spot is something that sparks my interest that is for sure!

The product description and profile said the ingredients of this herbal tisane were lemon, rose, mint, chamomile, and lavender and that it is good hot or cold.  I agree!  First I want to point out how well these 5 ingredients meshed together so nicely!  The ratio seemed to be 1/5 – 1/5 across the board…at least that is what my taste buds seemed to pick up!  I’m glad because I don’t generally like or side with chamomile flavors but if you pair chamomile with mint I’m more apt to try it.  Lemon is always a plus.  Rose and Lavender I can be hot and cold on but here it worked!

Pink Rose Lemonade from The Tea Spot is refreshing this or any time of year!  This is probably on my short list of favorite herbal tisane offerings to date!

Taster’s Review:

What a pleasant surprise…Lavender Spell Tea from TeaBox!  Of course the aroma of Lavender Spell Tea from TeaBox is that of lavender and that is only ‘helped’ by the secondary aroma of sweet greens.  When it comes to taste the lavender is first and foremost followed by a bit of menthol minty-ness.  The best part of this tea is the combo of ingredients which is black tea, lavender, and cornflower.  The cornflower – I feel – is mostly for show – but – could could possible add a bit of floral flavor to it as well.

Aside from the lovely ingredients I also love the fact that this black tea flavor base is of medium strength.  It’s NOT a wimpy black tea and that I appreciate very much.  The flavors mesh well together and it seems to awaken all of the senses!  It’s a “YES” from me…on this tea!

Taster’s Review:

With all of the hustle and bustle that inevitably happens at this time of year I find it helpful to have some tasty herbals and tisanes on hand to help unwind at the end of the day. I want to enjoy all the flavors of the holidays, but I need to watch my caffeine intake so I can sleep. Otherwise I turn into a grumpy ol’ Scrooge, and nobody wants that! Christmas in Paris has been a very nice end of the day treat that’s caffeine free and delicious as well.

The main flavors in this tisane are cocoa and peppermint. The cocoa note comes from cocoa shells and is slightly dark, but is not bitter in any way. The peppermint is clean, a little sweet, and is well balanced against the cocoa. The other two flavors, vanilla and lavender, are more subtle, but they turn this into a lovely drink. The lavender is most apparent as the cocoa note fades, but it also compliments the chocolaty flavor so well. After having this tisane I really want to try dark chocolate sprinkled with lavender. I’m thinking that would be seriously delicious! The lavender in this drink isn’t overly floral. It’s more of a sweet and bright addition rather than a highly floral one. The vanilla is very soft and almost hidden by the other flavors, but it does add a bit of a creamy note which is very pleasant.

I found that this drink is enhanced by the addition of sugar. I didn’t add cream or milk, but I think a slight amount would be nice. More than a splash will most likely cause the lavender flavor to be too subtle, so use a tiny amount and add more if desired.

Christmas in Paris is a very nice tisane that’s worth a try this holiday season. It’ll help keep your holiday spirits up without keeping you up. Enjoy!

Taster’s Review:

Despite being pretty much over my ‘sprinkles in tea’ phase, this tea drew me in with the combination of pig sprinkles in the blend and the fun, whimsical name and the promise of fig flavour. In my humble opinion, there aren’t nearly enough fig blends and any chance I have to try a new one is one I’m going to take!

However, when I cracked open my sealed 2 oz. package of this blend I was hit with something I hadn’t been prepared for; the strong, piercing aroma of lavender! The lack of comprehensive ingredients lists on East Indie’s website it definitely a valid criticism; while a super generic blurb has worked out in my favor in the past in this case I feel like I was failed – I cannot stand lavender, and had I known this blend had so much of it I’m sure I would’ve been persuaded against this tea despite wanting to try ‘all the fig’.

Regardless, I cold brewed myself up a mason jar worth of tea because you never really know how a tea is going to taste for sure until you try it, so despite major reservations there was still a chance this could be alright. Sadly, I just couldn’t get over that concentrated lavender flavour. It was floral in a soapy, artificial way that made me feel like I’d licked all of the counters and shelves in a Bath & Body Works store. Any fig that was in this blend, and I know there was because I could see the dried out pieces in the leaf along with the adorable pig sprinkles, was completely masked. I was not impressed.

My overall opinion is that personally I found this blend as irksome as the puppet it’s playfully named for – and if you’re looking for fig look elsewhere. However, if you’re a fan of lavender and want to try a strong lavender blend over a black base you’re in luck.

Taster’s Review:

Tea Drift’s Good Morning Energy Tea is direct and to the point.  Good Morning Energy Tea from Tea Drift contains Black Tea as the base with highlights of lavender, rose, bergamot, and rosemary.  But I picked up on something a little extra and somewhat mysterious.  It resembled lemon grass.  Perhaps it was just the naturally-morphed bergamot and rosemary combo.  Regardless it was a delight.

I was able to get about 3 infusions with this dry loose leaf.  Of course the first was the strongest and the 2nd was quite good too.  The only reason I attempted a 3rd infusion was to see how far I could stretch it.  The last infusion was fairly week but overall my experience with this tea was a positive one.

I’m not sure how much energy it really gave me but it was a pleasant morning cuppa either way.  The Lavender was more noticeable than the rose.  The Bergamot wasn’t overly intense and the rosemary really helped take the flavor to the next level.  The Black Tea base was nice…not too bold but not weak either.  Eventho this had Bergamot in it I wouldn’t call it an Earl Grey it was far from it.  This flavored tea has an identity all of its own and I appreciate that.

This is certainly worth a sip and many more to follow.  Try and for yourself and let us know what you think!
