Taster’s Review:
This is definitely a revitalizing tea! It has some real gusto to it! But, it is also pleasantly sweet – definitely a yin and yang kind of balance going on with this one, and the tea becomes even more enticing as the flavors develop on the palate.
The black tea base is bold and delicious. It has a malty tone and it is quite smooth up until the tail end of the sip, where I notice the tangy astringency, which emphasizes a citrus-y taste to this tea.
There is also a spiced tone to this tea, but it isn’t spicy. It is more of a sweet, exotic kind of spice, and it accents the citrus tones of the tea very nicely. The tea, citrus, and spice combines to create a satisfying, seamless flavor that does as it promises – revitalizes!
Delicious with a bit of sweetener if you like your tea sweet, but it is also delicious without. I’d take this one without milk, as I think it would overwhelm the delightful spice notes.
A little goes a long way with this tea, so when measuring it out, use just a little less than you normally would. For example, if you would normally use 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per cup, instead use a level teaspoon and maybe shake a few leaves off of the level teaspoon for this tea. I brewed it at what would be “normal” strength the first time I infused this tea, and found it to be a bit too strong and a little bitter for my taste. However, when I used a little less tea, it produced a strong (but not too strong), delicious brew! The tea was not bitter with my second infusion, but don’t oversteep it! Even though the package recommends a 4 – 5 minute infusion time, I recommend not more than three minutes.
A fantastic cuppa!
