Stocking Stuffer Alert! Clarks Tea Cubes-Green Tea Mint. . . .

Instant tea has been one hot fade this year and I’m not going to lie, I’m intrigued by this concept.   I will always be a loose leaf tea girl at heart, but as the end of the year approaches and the holidays really start becoming more hustly and bustly (are those words?), I find myself grabbing more convenient options when it comes to my tea on the go.  Clarks Tea Cubes fits that bill perfectly.

Clarks Tea Cubes offers three flavors of instant tea cubes where you basically prep your water, plop in your tea cube and you are set. No mess and no accompanying tea bag to throw away-which is what Clarks Tea Cubes is all about. The convenient instant tea without anything to throw away ie tea bag or additional packaging.  I was instantly drawn to the green tea offering and couldn’t wait to see what this tea was all about.

So I prepped this cuppa up like I would any green tea blend.  Once the water was ready to go, I threw in two tea cubes and let the tea do its thing.  After a few minutes, the tea was ready and to my surprise, there was no sediment at the bottom of the cuppa like I expected. I did notice that there was sugar in the tea so I prepared myself for this blast of sweetness but I’m happy to report that did not happen.

Refreshing mint with a subtle green tea base was what I got. Sip after sip, I was happy and then I got about half way through the cuppa and gave my cup a swirl.  Sadly, that stirred up the sugar that must have been hiding towards the bottom and now the cuppa is insanely sweet and overpowering the rest of the cup.

I wish Clarks Tea Cubes offered a sugar free version of this tea because I really don’t feel like the tea needs the sugar. But this is such a great idea and I was super excited to try it.  Because of the sugar bit, I’ll be sending this tea off to another Sister to try, but I was incredibly happy and thankful to try it.  And I’m hoping one day, Clarks Tea Cubes will offer will offer a sugar free version so I can greedily drink this tea down as iced because I can see this tea being amazing in that fashion!

If you have a tea lover on your list this holiday season, these tea cubes would be a great stocking stuffer!

Mint Sencha Green Tea from Pique Tea. . . .

Well this was shocking. Mint. Sencha. Green Tea. All of these things are green and so all of these things would indicate GREEN powder was hidden inside the little brown tea packet. There is even a green stripe on the package to drive the point home. So I was certainly surprised when I dumped the powder out of the package only to find a substance that resembled golden turmeric in my teacup.

Since the instructions simply said to dissolve in warm water, I topped the yellow powder with water that was 170F. With just a little bit of a stir, the powder gave way to a golden tea.

Sipping on it now, I will say it is a bit bitter. That could be because of the green tea base or spearmint, the mint used in this tea, can also be a bit on the medicinal/harsh side of flavors. If you can get past the bitterness, there is also a buttery, yet vegetal, quality from the sencha. The mint is also clean and fresh but as I said before, harsh.

Personally I am not a fan of this particular tea, flavor wise. However, I do really appreciate what Pique Tea is doing. Their single serving packets of easily dissolving tea crystals is great for those who want tea on the go. It is also good for those of you, like me, who sometimes wants tea but are too lazy to actually get out the filter and spoons to make it properly. Also, no wet and dripping tea bags to have to dispose of when done. All this requires is some water and a place to toss the wrapper and convenience like that can’t be beat. No mess. No fuss. Just tea.

Pique has a bunch of other flavors to choose from and I am definitely intrigued to see how those flavors fare as tea crystals. Consider me intrigued, Pique Tea.

Blueberry Green Iced Tea Powder from Stash Tea

When I first saw this I was intrigued. Just take the packet, dump it into a water bottle, and shake. A new and different way to make tea, perfect for lazy people. Then I started thinking and one question came to mind…”how does green tea powder differ from flavored matcha?”

The answer I have determined is it doesn’t. This is just like a sweetened flavored matcha a la DAVIDsTEA.

This is a mossy green color which screams vegetal and yet it is 100% sweet blueberry. Like blueberry pie filling. Sugary and good for dessert cravings.

At first sip it was a little chalky but that might have been in my head because as I continue drinking it is very smooth. It does coat the tongue a bit flavor-wise though so that pie filling sweetness builds. Just a warning for those who prefer a less in-your-face flavor.

I was actually surprised by this one. I put off drinking it but ended up enjoying it quite a bit. I think it is a pretty niche flavor so I don’t think I would drink it all the time but it’s an easy treat for every now and then.
