Orange Date Cake from Steeped Tea. Whit a name like that I knew I HAD to try it! Best part was it’s dairy and guilt free! It contains Date Bits which are made up of Dates and Rice Flour, Currants, Sunflower Oil, Orange Wedges, Cinnamon Bits, Fig Bits which are made up of Figs and Rice Flour, and flavors.
I was super excited that they used the Rice Flour as the ingredient for the cake likeness and not actual cake chunks that could contain dairy and/or eggs! And I was also stoked that they used Sunflower Oil for the anti-caking agent and clearly noted that on the bag!
Orange Date Cake from Steeped Tea was pretty fantastic! I have to admit I was completely blown away with the flavor of these natural ingredients! The Dates and Figs were so wonderfully sweet! The Orange was juicy-citrus at it’s best! The Cinnamon played an important part, too, and was hefty on it’s own. YUM!
This is a VERY LARGE and CHUNKY blend of ingredients. You can see everything without looking real close.
It has sweet and almost caramel-like notes to it in addition to a brown sugar flavor without it actually having any added sugars! Only the natural sugars from the dried fruits here, folks!
Yeah! Totally LOVING this Fruit Tea/Tisane. I don’t know if I have ever said that about a fruit based tea. This was a beautiful surprise!

Citrus Lavender Sage from Teavana. . . . . .
When I sit down to write reviews here at Sororitea Sisters, I like to ask myself, “what does this tea remind me of?” … and usually a memory, a story, a flavor will follow. I’ve gotta be honest with you guys– this year doesn’t really remind me of anything. Or rather, it reminds me of lots of things?
It’s a little like lemonade when it’s iced, but it’s got an earthy, almost slightly bitter aftertaste from the herbs. It’s almost like a green tea, in how light and fresh it is, but not entirely. It’s almost a little bit like walking into a hippie general store– you know, when the waves of patchouli and kombucha hit you as soon as you cross the threshold? But it’s not, of course, because it’s fruitier and springier than that.
Truly, this tea is pretty unique. Fresh citrus, herby sage and floral, sweet lavender combine in a way that’s totally new to my palate, and I like it. A hot cup makes for a great nightcap, and cold (though sometimes a little bitter, as mentioned) is refreshing and sweet. I’m willing to bet it’d make a fantastic Arnold Palmer, which transports me right back to warm & sunny summer days. Which remind me a little of this tea. 🙂

Taster’s Review:
I have been neglecting my herbal teas as of late. I’m sorry herbals! I’ll try to keep you more in sight ;).
This tea is from Yellowstone Tea Co, an Etsy Store. I have tried a few of their teas in the past so when I saw this poor neglected fellow in my tea basket, I knew it was time to try him.
Into my tea pot the sample went along with 1 cup of water at 212F to steep for 5 minutes. The tea produced a gorgeous dark red liquid. So very pretty!
What is so nice with this herbal is the different and unique flavors that have been added in. There are apples, orange peel, elderberries, hibiscus, rosehips, carrot flavors, orange slices, lemongrass, beet powder, raspberry fruit powder, and freeze dried grapes. I can’t say that I’ve ever had a tea with carrots or beet powder. I was excited to see what these flavors would produce.
The first flavor that hits me is the tartness from the hibiscus but it is nicely contrasted with the lemon from the lemongrass and the sweet flavor from the grapes. The other lovely flavor is what I’m assuming is the beet powder. There is a really nice sweet yet I swear there are hints of an earthy flavor there, maybe I should describe it more like a tangy note. Last but not least are the orange peels. They are probably my favorite part. The citrus flavor that is added in really kicks this tea up a couple notches and really balances out the flavor.
This tea iced is even just amazing. So many flavors going on. Each sip is different from the next. An explosion of flavor with each taste.
Such a fun herbal to end my day with.
