Wellness Tea-Bone Repair from The Virginia Tea Company. . . .

It is the beginning of a new year and I’m sure if you are like me, you are seeing a ton of detox and healthy wellness teas in your social media feeds. I’ve never been a big fan of good for you herbals but I’ve always enjoyed herbals that are full of dried fruit.   Recently I’ve noticed my taste buds are starting to change. I’m no longer craving the floral teas like I used to but am finding myself really craving herbs and spices like ginger, spearmint, peppermint, chamomile, and so on.

So today I thought would be a great day to try Bone Repair from The Virginia Tea Company.  I am a huge advocate for natural herbal remedies to cure what ails you. Not that I don’t grab OTC drugs when I’m in need, but I do prefer to try out a more natural approach for certain body issues I have.

Bone Repair is a mix of nettle, St. John’s Wort, chamomile, dandelion, ginger root, and peppermint.  All are organic. This tea’s description on the site goes something like this:

High in vitamins and helpful bone minerals, these herbs make this tea a wonderful enabler for strengthening your body’s skeleton.

Regardless of the health benefits, I have to say this tea is amazing. Herbal teas to me always have that herbaceous feel to them and this tea doesn’t really have it or maybe I should say that feel isn’t overwhelming.

There is a light sweetness mingled with a hint of spice surrounded by a refreshing cooling mint aftertaste. I can’t say that I’ve ever had such a smooth herbal tea like this before. I have literally had four cups of this tea today alone (resteeping the same bag even!).

I haven’t had some of these spices and herbs before so I can’t say if what I’m tasting is from this or that. All I can say is even if I am not in need of bone repair specifically-this tea delivers a refreshing, soothing, and calming flavor that could be enjoyed any time of the day.

Really happy with this one and I have a feeling that this will be a re-order for me. Plus, there is a cool option to get tea accessories added in for just a bit more. You have to love that option!

Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals. . . . .

So far…I haven’t tried a product from Sen Cha Naturals I haven’t liked…or should I say…LOVED!? I figured it was about time I reviewed the Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals.

Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals is what the company calls ‘a true original’ because of the classic green tea latte with their own personal twist as it ‘goes nuts for coconut!’ Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals is perfectly creamy, while still being bright and vegetal at the same time. I agree with their website and product description that Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals is a decadent treat for matcha lovers and green tea novices alike.

Just like Sen Cha’s other Matcha Latte Products…it’s a frothy, matcha latte you can enjoy – with no milk required. They’ve once again done away with the diglycerides and hydrogenated nonsense for a cleaner version of the decadent drink mix. They say it’s a satisfying indulgence they’re sure you’ll find a whole latte better and I tend to agree!

With just a few ingredients this is REALLY impressive! Organic Coconut Sugar, Organic Coconut Oil, Algae Flour, Organic Matcha Powder, Green Tea & Vanilla Extracts. As you can see this is a gluten free product – as well as – a vegan labeled product, too!

I’ve enjoyed a cup each of the hot and cold method. For HOT just Mix 2 scoops with 8-10 oz of hot water and stir or shake. For ICED all you have to do is Mix 2 scoops with 8-10 oz of water and stir or shake. Pour over ice. BAM! There is your naturally creamy Original Matcha Latte from Sen Cha Naturals! YUMMO!

Detox from TeaTaxi. . . . . .

Well it’s that time of year again. Everyone is making resolutions and trying to recover from all the decadence of the holiday season. Diet and detox ads are everywhere and it seems as if this month’s TeaTaxi package is no exception. My monthly subscription envelope arrived with a whole variety of feel good blends focusing on health and wellness.

First thing I noticed was the vast amount of ingredients in this blend. For something meant to cleanse my body, it seems I am putting a whole lot into it. All natural ingredients but ones I normally would not seek out on my own, such as birch leaves, willow bark, etc. I also noticed a whole lot of natural sweeteners that I tend to avoid due to their aspartame-like aftertaste (I’m looking at you, Stevia and Licorice Root!). Nonetheless, I figured why not give it a try and see how detoxed I felt.

The scent of the brew was a sickly sweet odor. Atop the sweetness was also an earthy scent, perhaps from all the bark and leaves and grass in the mix. Tastewise, that sweetness is all there, leaving a cloying flavor as the sip ends. There is also a fair amount of lemon flavor which I wouldn’t mind on it’s own though it conflicts with everything else happening here. Also, that earthiness transfers over to the taste, though only slightly. I am supposed to be reminded of pine and the cool winter air but instead this has me thinking of pledge and artificial sweeteners. I really don’t think that was the type of clean feeling TeaTaxi was going for here.

Honestly, I didn’t have high hopes going into this between the murky water and the scent. To me it seemed more muddy then anything and I think that is attributed to the vast variety of ingredients in the mix. I think cleaning it up a bit and removing all the sweetening agents would improve this a great deal. As it is, I don’t think this is the tea for me and certainly don’t think its the detox I need from the holiday season. Luckily, I have 9 other feel good teas from TeaTaxi to try!

Endurance-Citrus Mint from Sportland Tea Co. . . A Unique Twist on Matcha

Matcha has always been such a hit or miss tea for me. I either adore and devour the matcha (typically a latte) that I make or it is just way too vegetal for me. But this is the year I plan to step more and more outside of my comfort zone for tea, so I prepped up my water and set to checking this tea out properly.

Endurance Citrus Mint is a blend of matcha, ginger, ginseng, and mint with a few other inclusions here and there. The mint is the aroma you really get when you first open up the package.

The ratio of matcha to spices/inclusions weighs heavy in the matcha’s favorite so I wasn’t sure what to expect from my first sip.  Gorgeous notes of mint, citrus, and ginger mingle lovingly with a vegetal base. This tea turned out to be simply amazing and I couldn’t get enough. I was thrilled with the flavor profile of this tea. The way the spices mingle with the vegetal base and create this wonderful tone for the tea,-just delicious.

From the first sip to the last, this tea delivers this unique flavor that I can say I haven’t had before.  I haven’t tried this tea as a latte yet but I can’t imagine how lovely this tea would be with a touch of cream added or even yogurt to make a fantastic smoothie. With how wonderful all the flavors mingle together, there are so many different ways to make this tea even better.

This is one of those blends that could go wrong quite easily but the way this tea is blended is perfect. I honestly can’t get enough of this tea and have loved drinking it in the afternoons to give myself a little boost for the rest of the work day.

Endurance Citrus Mint is the perfect balance of vegetal, citrus, and spices with a kick of mint to smooth everything out. Well balanced and definitely well loved by yours truly.
