Turmeric. It’s starting to become a game here at SororiTea Sisters. If we see a Turmeric Tea – we have to get our hands on it – and try it! At least a few of the SororiTea Sisters are a bit more than obsesses with Turmeric lately and if you are, too, then you might get a kick out of this tea from Steeped Tea. Turmeric & Spice Black Tea from Steeped Tea, that is.
With a name like Turmeric & Spice Black Tea – of course you could assume it would have black tea and turmeric and you would be right. Other ingredients include orange peel, ginger bits, pink peppercorns, coriander, cardamom, chili loops, and marigold blossoms. I will say that the ginger bits do have a gentle dusting of sugar on them.
This is a very spicy flavored black tea. If you are into Chai Tea you will most likely enjoy this tea! The peppercorns are plentiful but so are the other spices. The spice is a combo of peppery-spice and herbal-spice. The addition of the orange peel is more of a back-up singer to the spices but I can’t imagine this flavored black tea with out that bit of citrus! It really takes it to the next level for me! It doesn’t have as much turmeric as other teas I have tried but it is sprinkled in there nicely among the other loose leaf ingredients.
1 teaspoon at 2 or 3 minutes is all you need here, folks! If you are ready for an eye-opening turmeric tea experience – try Turmeric & Spice from Steeped Tea! It’s a goodie!

Bright Eyes from Art of Tea. . . .
Although I’ve seen Ayurveda teas around, this was my first experience with the therapeutic style from India, meant to balance my doshas and perk me up without caffeine.
It was fairly late but I needed a little energy boost to get me through the rest of my homework. I thought it would be a perfect time to try an herbal. Hello, Bright Eyed. The dry blend gave off a cheerful, earthen scent like a dusty sunrise. I measured half the recommended amount because this had much shorter brew time than I expected. I had a feeling it’d be powerful.
The infusion came out unabashedly marigold, despite the turmeric having tinted my gravity strainer. It’s really made of strong stuff! And it certainly smells healthy. There’s a hint of licorice, perhaps that’s the sarsaparilla? Initially the turmeric tasted tart, though not very astringent, with a subtle tingling aftertaste from the ginger. I added a spoonful of honey, which is how I normally drink my teas, and it definitely let the mellower cinnamon shine through. Overall, this was a light bodied tea with a well rounded spicy taste.
I ended up staying Alert much later than I meant to, but I learned from this…I will definitely never underestimate herbal teas again!

Healthy Wellness Tea from Simpson and Vail. . . . Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana) – Yoga Herbal Tea
I’ve been wanting to try Simpson & Vail’s Yoga Teas for a while so when a bag labeled “Swadhisthana” was in the most recent shipment from S&V I did a little ‘Snoopy Dance’ for sure!
The Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana), the seat of life, is located in the center of the abdomen. It is associated with the color orange and symbolized by the six-petal lotus flower. The Sacral Chakra is the seat of our creative and sexual energy and is associated with what our bodies need.
When in balance, the Sacral Chakra, will enable us to accept and solve the challenges of life in a creative manner and allow us to feel compassionate and friendly. It will enable us to express our emotions and connect us to others through feeling, desire, sensation, and movement.
I have done a lot with a trio of chakras the past year or two. My personal trio is the Red, Orange, and Yellow! I have plant based resin coated balance crystals that I have necklaces made out of and also have the yellow and orange balancing cones on each end of my desk.
Some may think this is all ‘hippie dippie’ stuff but I don’t mind. I’ve been called a hippie on more than one occasion and I wear the label others give me with a smile on my face!
What I will say about this herbal tisane and yoga tea is that it’s a harmonious blend of herbs that features a golden cup with a light earthy, spicy flavor and a delicate lemon and mint aftertaste. Simpson and Vail suggests says to connect to this energy center by trying new ways of expressing yourself creatively through dance, art, writing or music which is pretty much my daily life in both work and play.
Ingredients include Orange Peel, Rosehips, Annatto Seed, Cloves, Allspice, Organic Peppermint & Organic Lemon Grass.
The Orange is what shines here – first and foremost – and rightfully-so! The seed, clove, and spice are prominent as well. The Peppermint and Lemongrass pair up for a creative take of its own. This was incredibly satisfying, comforting, bright, juicy, and energizing! LOVED IT!

Tulsi Original from Organic India. . . . .
I saw this Tulsi original tea on sale at Natural Grocers and just had to try it. It’s caffeine free, however the box mentioned that it is energizing, so that definitely piqued my interest. I brewed my first cup this morning not knowing what to expect. The teabags themselves didn’t have much of a scent, and even when I poured the hot water in my cup there still wasn’t much of a scent.
It has a very delicate flavor, it kind of reminds me of green tea, but less earthy and definitely no bitterness. I’m having mine straight with no sweetener and it is really refreshing. I get a faint citrus-y/ minty aftertaste, but it’s very mild. I am really enjoying the flavor, especially since I haven’t been drinking as much green tea as I used to because I am cutting way back on caffeine. This is another tea that would probably be excellent iced. It has avery clean, crisp flavor that is very refreshing and delicious.
I read up on some health benefits of Tulsi tea, and there are many. It’s full of antioxidants, and is very helpful with relieving stress. It’s caffeine and gluten free, and also can help with anxiety and depression. I could go on and on, but if you google health benefits of Tulsi tea you will be amazed. The more I learn about tea, the more I wish I had started drinking it sooner!
This is a tea that is suitable for any time of the day, and I can say that I definitely feel awake and refreshed after having a cup. I feel energized in a natural way, not an overly stimulated way.
I’m very glad I decided to try this, it will be a regular tea in my little stash for sure!

Gingerberry from Sportland Tea Co. . . . .
I’m a fan of Sportland Tea Co.
I recently tried their Endurance Blend, which is matcha and citrus and I really loved the flavor, and the way it made me feel, so I was very excited to try the Gingerberry tea. The tea is green in it’s dry form, and then after brewing it becomes reddish from the hibiscus.
This blend has matcha, ginger root, Hibiscus, ginseng, lemongrass, lemon balm, cinnamon and orange peel. I usually prefer hibiscus tea iced, and I will definitely be making this over ice next time, but to be honest it’s pretty tasty warm. The hibiscus isn’t overpowering. I can taste the citrus from the lemongrass and orange peel. The cinnamon isn’t really coming through, but I’m sure it’s adding something in the background. This tea is citrus-y and a little floral from the hibiscus with a nice tart tang.
This tea would be a great tea to drink in the summer, or after a really hard workout. Hibiscus is cooling to the body, and also very hydrating.
I also love Sportland tea’s matcha blends because their matcha is very smooth, it doesn’t clump up like a lot of other matcha teas I’ve tried. No one likes to drink a huge clump of matcha!
This is a great tea for when you need a little pick me up, but you don’t want a ton of caffeine. According to their website, this tea increases mental alertness and energy levels, and boosts circulation! And it’s also anti-inflammatory. I definitely feel energized after drinking it, but not in a harsh caffeinated way. I really love these matcha blends, and I can’t wait to try more of their amazing blends!
