The Dragon!/52Teas. . . .

The Dragon! is a blend of Chinese Dragonwell tea and Japanese Sencha. It is blended with marshmallow root and lime, blackberry, and raspberry.

I have tried a lot of flavored green teas that frustrate me no end. The flavors will be nicely done but there is something grating about the green base. I wish I could tell what exactly it is that puts me off, but I only know to describe it as a sour taste and I have found it across brands and price ranges. My heart breaks a little when a tempting blend of wonderful flavors turns out to be ruined by whatever base it is that I dislike.

This blend, however, is LOVELY. Since the green base I dislike has an effect like pure unsweetened lime stabbing my tongue I thought I may not like this one, and that it might be too astringent. Instead, it is quite smooth and drinkable, not bitter or sour, and the flavorings are very little and amiable.

I find the berries flavors to dominate and the lime is quite subtle. It is sweet and fluffy and goes down quick and smooth.

This tea was a special blend for the anniversary celebration of 52teas. It is not available at present, but check them out for scrumptious teas that are!

Reading Nook Blend Organic Black Cream Loose Leaf Tea from Plum Deluxe. . . .

Feeling fretful and restless, unable to decide which of the many tasks at hand I ought to start, frustrated over adulting and situations that are somewhat out of my control for now, and tired of the rain, rain, and more rain, I decided not to do anything for now, but to pick a tea that needed reviewing instead. The chores will wait for me.

As I went through my box of tea, the title of this one grabbed me and said, “This is exactly what you need right now. A great book to escape into and a great cup of tea.”

I always listen when tea talks to me, so I headed over to the internet and downloaded a book I have been wanting to read for ages and made a whole pot of this beautiful blend.

Before I even started drinking it, I was already feeling more relaxed. The top of my infuser basket held the loveliest colors of pink rose petals, little lavender blossoms, and golden bits of chamomile floating lazily over the black tea leaves. An aroma wafted up that felt like a gentle hand patting the shoulder with a “there, there.” Now, feet up, tablet on lap, one chapter down, and two cups in me, I have a new attitude.

Ah yes, this was just what I needed, indeed. Every element of the tea is nicely balanced and making me feel more peaceful. The black tea is soft and smooth but still strong enough to make a nice “real tea” base for the blend. The floral elements are soft and sweet. I added nothing to this and it doesn’t need a thing in my opinion. The rose is sweet and creamy and adds roundness to the texture, the lavender is soothing and so much more interesting than just lavender by itself, and the chamomile would be the lightest touch here to me, adding to the sense of peace, as I associate it with unwinding and letting go of worries and cares. The tea says, “Breathe.” So I do, deeply and slowly.

The overall effect is just what I desperately needed – enough of a break to relax and restore the strength to do what needs to be done next. But not tonight. Tonight is going to be just me and a good book and a full pot of Reading Nook Tea. Breathing.

Farmer’s Wife Raspberry from St Fiacre’s Farm

The last tea review on my Review-A-Thon.  I hope enjoyed the reviews today as much as I enjoyed sharing the good word about these teas!

Herbal teas.  I have such a love hate relationship with them.  Being one that doesn’t really dig spiced or overly gingerized tea. .  . . I have a hard time finding just the right blend for my tastes. Being one that does see the health benefits of certain herbal blends (not weight loss), I’m always looking for blends that may help me with a few pain management situations I deal with on a daily if not sometimes hourly basis.

When I discovered St. Fiacre’s Farm, I was excited.  They offered several different herbal blends that didn’t have that overly spiced ingredient list of my arch enemy-red rooibos.  One blend instantly caught my eye- Farmer’s Wife Raspberry. This blend consists of nettle, red clover, raspberry leaf, green rooibos, and a few other ingredients- all organic.  Whenever I see a blend that has red clover, I’m instantly lured in.

Using the recommended parameters, this herbal brews up beautifully. The tea has a pinkish hue and the flavors are delicate but with such wonderful flavor.  With each and every sip, I take away this sweet honey like berry slightly tart flavor that makes me happy.  I’m a big fan of green rooibos and love the fact this herbal is the base for this tea.

This herbal blend is smooth berry from the start with this silky honey note that flows brilliantly from the beginning to the very end.  I’ve had this tea iced and the tea is just as amazing.  I can’t say that I’ve seen the benefits of drinking this herbal tea just because I need to drink the tea on a more regular basis.  Sometimes its hard to get in all the tea drinking you want to, manage your day correctly and drink all the water you need to.  But for this tea, I really need to get my priorities in order – for being a good for you tea as far as health benefits- this tea is also good for your taste buds!
