Spiced Cucumber Melon from 52Teas . . . . .

If you were a teenage girl in the 90s-2000s (raises hand), there’s not a doubt in my mind that at some point, you owned a bottle of cucumber melon body splash. (Am I right, or am I right?) When I spotted this tea in my sample pile, my mind immediately jumped to that infamous, chemically-fresh scent of my adolescence.

Luckily, upon first sniff, I’m totally blown away– in the best way possible. There’s hints of the true cucumber-melon notes from the scent we’ve all come to know and love, but authentically, not chemically and fake at all. Underneath the bright freshness of the fruit and veg notes are hints of spice and vegetal green.

Brewed, the same notes come out– crisp, fresh and fruity, but a red pepper kick on the back end that is unexpected and delightful. I get a hint of bitterness from the green at the end of the sip when hot, but that bitterness all but disappears as a cold brew, which is a refreshing and unique treat.

All in all, this tea is such a fun, delicious throwback-with-a-twist to my tweenager days. Ow, to throw on my crushed velvet Blossom hat, blast some Ace of Base, and brew another cup!

Green Tea With Coconut from Harney & Sons. . . . .

This is a sweet little darling of a tea! They had it out at the dentist’s office beside a giant Starbucks machine, so I decided to try it. (They also had some Tazo blacks, but I’ve tried most of those, so this was a moment of adventure).

The trip to the dentist’s office was awful, but this tea was delish. It’s a green tea with lemongrass, vanilla, coconut and ginger. It’s a soothing little dessert! If you don’t like sweet, this might not be for you, but if you have a sweet tooth, this is tons of taste with very few calories.

You can even pretend it’s “healthy” because hey, it’s green tea. People who drink green tea live absolutely forever. That’s just science.

People who drink green tea probably don’t have a weird tongue that needs its under-ligament cut — which is the exact surgery that my dentist suggested. Apparently my tongue is too low (what?!). It pushes against my lower teeth and gives them tartar. They want to ZAP the ligament away with a LASER. Points for science-fiction surgery, but yikes.

Have you ever heard of something so horrific? I DESERVE this tea. At least I got a yummy new flavor out of the morning.

Spiced Orappangele Green Tea from 52Teas. . . . . .

I woke up feeling my throat was an exploded landmine. What did I need, aside from a mountain of cold medicine? A tea. A GREEN tea. That’s HEALTHY, yeah?

Sure. It’s healthy as heck. I’m going to live forever.

I picked around my work tea basket and this one spoke to me.

“Hello,” Spiced Orappangele Green Tea whispered. “You have taken too much Robitussin. You should not operate machinery or respond to my voice aloud.”

“Why can’t I respond to you aloud?” I asked. Everyone in my office looked at me quizzically.

“Ahhhh,” I said, in my head. “I get it now.”

“Try me. I am the thing. I am TOTES the thing,” it said.

And it IS, guys. This is the citrus-sweet-light-spice concoction of your dreams. It’s a throat soother. It’s a taste sensation. It’s tasty enough to break the barrier of cold-tastelessness, but not so strong as to upset my delicate stomach.

(When I get sick, my stomach gets upset. When I am stressed out, my stomach gets upset. When I eat too much unhealthy food, my stomach gets upset. When I work out too hard, my stomach gets upset. My stomach is also upset by: virtual reality, strong smells, the sight of raw meat, flight turbulence, trying to read in the car, crying, fear, and being hungry too long.)

(I am a delicate flower.)

This flavor is juicy, but not fake. It doesn’t have that weird tart Jolly-Rancher thing that a lot of apple flavors do. The cinnamon/nutmeg also take this high-flying sweetness a little bit more down to earth.

I daresay this tea is sugar, and spice, and everything nice.

This tea isn’t available on 52Teas’ site right now, but I recommend keeping an eye out for apple mixes and spice mixes from them in the future. They seem to be nailing these really well lately.

Stay healthy, Sisters!

Lemon Green Tea from Tea Trunk. . . . .

IInstagram is both awesome and terrible when it comes to tea. Well really when it comes to anything. Through the App, I have learned of countless tea companies, a billion restaurants, and so much more. It truly is an effective marketing tool.

Tea Trunk is one of the tea companies I found through Instagram. I came across it and was instantly intrigued by their adorable packaging. Seriously, the elephant theme is just too cute. I was so captivated in fact that I found myself visiting their site…and then I found myself buying a tin of assorted tea bags.

If I am being honest I think I bought the tin because I liked the many different elephant wrappers on the tea bags more so than I liked the actual selection of teas it had to offer (standard flavors like vanilla black, rose oolong, etc.). Nonetheless, I paid more than $20 USD because I have no impulse control and just HAD to have it.

I have been slowly trying the teas since they have arrived and have yet to be blown away. None have been bad but none have really left a lasting impression either. Unfortunately this blend is just more of the same.

It is a slightly grassy green tea base with a hint of lemon flavor. Though the lemon is bright throughout the sip, it gets a bit pithy in the aftertaste. It is pleasant enough for now but not one that I will be needing again. If you are looking for a simple lemon green tea, with adorable packaging, this is for you but for me I don’t think I could justify the price again.

BubbleGum from The NeccesiTeas- A Unique Tea for Sure

Bubblegum Tea. Yep. That is really a thing. And can I just say, I’m so glad it is!

The NecessiTeas is one of those tea companies that I’ve always drooled at their offerings but never took that step to actually order from them. I don’t know why. They have some pretty fantastic flavored teas.

Bubblegum Tea is a green tea full of green tea, natural and organic flavors and well, gumballs! There truly are gumballs right now floating in my steeper. Just makes my tea soul happy.

Brewed with water prepped at 180 and allowed to steep for about 4 minutes, I took my first sip. This tea’s aroma is incredibly sweet. I was hoping the aroma translated into a sweet yet not overly sugary taste.

And that is exactly what happened. This tea is a lovely balance of a rich buttery smooth green tea with a sweet note that is candy-esque. Though I don’t get a true bubblegum flavor, I definitely come away with a sweet flavor that would curve any sweet tooth. I’m loving this unique flavor. I’m glad there aren’t any additional fruity notes and this tea is going in the direction in the way of candy. Makes me feel like I’m eating something I shouldn’t without the calories.

Perfectly delicious but delicate enough that the sweetness doesn’t overwhelm. Now I need to take a serious look at more of The NeccessiTeas offerings. I’m adoring this blend and wish I had more!

We all remember that sweet pink bubblegum flavor as a kid. Contests with your best friend to see who could blow the biggest bubble and then having it pop and stick to your entire face. Chewing it for hours until our jaws ached or falling asleep with it in our mouth which meant waking up with a big sticky mess in our hair! This blend takes me back to all those childhood memories and will be loved by adults and children of all ages. Feel free to steep the actual gumballs or pop one in your mouth and work on your bubble blowing skills while your tea is steeping!
