Taster’s Review:

I know. A rhubarb tea.. .  how odd, right? I thought so too.  Probably why it took me so long to give it a go.  Let’s start with how this tea looks.  This tea had the most gorgeous oolongs intertwined with a few larger rose pieces.  A really stunning blend.

The aroma this dry leaf gave off was sweet and slightly floral.  I had always thought rhubarb was more of a tart flavor so I was very shocked and pleasantly surprised when my nose encountered this glorious aroma.  This tea released an aroma that I want bottled in air fresheners and candles alike.

I brewed this up like I do my oolongs- about 190F or so and about 3 minutes to start.  I still had my hesitations.  My brain kept saying- This tea has RHUBARB in it!!! And I honestly couldn’t get past it.  Finally the tea had cooled slightly so I could take my first sip.

Ever have a tea that made you hear glorious singing and just made you sigh? Well this tea did just that.  I can’t honestly say that I’ve ever had rhubarb before but I’m seeking it out! This tea was brilliant, bright, and vibrant. The oolong was a mellower base allowing the flavors to really produce a solid feel.  The flavorings were slight, but enough so there was this slightly sweet yet tart flavor with just a kiss of floral love.  I can’t describe how amazingly light and refreshing this tea was. This is a tea that will make you dream about the next cuppa you get to have of the blend.  It was that good and I still can’t get over how much I adore this oolong blend.  I wish it was still available from Stylin’ Tea Blends because I want gobs of this tea.  I actually felt like crying after the 6th steeping and I knew it was getting close to the time I would have to head home for the day.  I knew I would have to say goodbye to this tea but I am hoping a quick google search will get me more of this gorgeous blend.

Oriental Beauty from Sanne Tea

OrientalBeautyTea Information:

Leaf Type:  Oolong

Where to Buy: Sanne Tea

Tea Description:

Oriental Beauty is also known as Bai Hao (white tips) Oolong, or Champagne Oolong. The beautiful name, many people believe, is from Queen Victoria. When brewed, the leaves generally spread in water, like a graceful lady dancing with gorgeous finery.

To make Oriental Beauty, farmers have to grow tea trees without pesticides, so Jacobiasca formosana, a type of green leafhopper insect, can feed on the leaves, stems, and buds. This leads to the tea plant’s production of monoterpene diol and hotrienol which gives the tea its unique flavor. Tea leaves bitten by the green leafhopper insect lose their green color and appear bronzed or washed out, eventually becoming atrophic and curly. It is why the high quality Oriental Beauty shows five different colors: white, red, yellow, green and brown.

The tea leaves are only harvested and made in summer, when the green leafhopper insects are most active. What makes Oriental Beauty more precious is that the unique sweetness is produced when the leaves only bitten by Jacobiasca formosana. Tea leaves, infested with other insects, like Ectropis oblique and Toxoptera aurantii, won’t produce honey flavor. This uncontrollable eco system makes Oriental Beauty one of the rarest teas in the world.

The tea comes from Cuku, Pinglin Dist, near Feitsui Reservoir area. All tea leaves have to be handpicked to ensure that each leaf has been bitten by Jacobiasca formosana. Because of the difficulty involved in harvesting this tea, a professional tea picker can only harvest 0.7 to 1kgs each day.

This tea has natural ripe fruit and honey flavors with a smooth texture and multiplayer floral finish. When brewed, the tea liquor has a clean and bright golden color. The full-bodied, mellow, and aromatic flavors will bring you ultimate luxury experience

Taster’s Review:

This is a tea I’ve heard stories about and I couldn’t wait to try it. I’ve heard rave reviews from Sanne Tea and when I was able to take the opportunity to try out their teas, I jumped on it!

After being sick for almost the last month, my taste buds are slowly coming back to me.  Being a tea blogger and not having your taste buds in check isn’t a fun experience. But slowly but surely, I started feeling better to the point where I was ready to try this tea out and find out what the excitement is about.

The description paints a gorgeous pictures of what the tea is supposed to taste like an I have to say. . . it is dead on!

This tea does have this amazing honey like flavor that I am just devouring and loving. Full-bodied, smooth, and just plain delicious, this tea delivers on everything the description states. First you get this lush honey sweet flavor, then a note or two of a ripe fruit (I swear I was picking up fresh strawberries!), followed by a unique floral finish. Gorgeous from the start. You really can’t go wrong with this tea. I can’t wait to try the rest of their offerings and steep up more of this beauty!

Taster’s Review:

Subscription boxes are the thing these days.  I myself subscribe to a few.  The one that intrigues me the most is ChaHoney, a monthly subscription plan that basically does your tea shopping for you.  ChaHoney doesn’t blend their own tea yet instead looks for those amazing teas that you might have overlooked here or there.  Each month features a different company.  I just love this idea and hope to become a member soon.  But first I need to sipdown some teas (this will be #33!!).

I’m almost finished with this first box from ChaHoney that I received.  I’m quite impressed with the teas I’ve had so far.  The company that was featured was Tribute Teas.  You’d think I would have tried them by now since they are in my home state but alas no.  Shame on me.

This oolong right out of the gate smelled decadent and romantic.  I can absolutely pick up notes of lilacs.  I love lilacs and am happy just to sit around enjoy the aroma from this tea. So beautiful.

I let this tea sit for just a moment and then took my first sip. Gorgeous! Simply gorgeous, romantic and exactly what I needed today.  This tea is everything you could ask for and more.  Irresistible floral notes paired with hints of a sweetness that I would compare to an apricot.  The description is spot on.  I am incredibly impressed and next payday, this one will need to be re-ordered.

I am simply in love with this floral roasted sweet apricot loving oolong!  I can absolutely see this tea being one that you drink while you get lost in a good book. This is my favorite Tribute Tea to date!

Bliss- Vanilla Heather from Astrolo Teas

Bliss_VanillaHeatherTea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black/Floral

Tea Description:

The Vanilla Heather blend is by far the lightest tea I’ve made. I like to say that it feels like drinking cotton candy made of sweet flowers while floating on a cloud. And that just makes me happy!

Taster’s Review:

One of my favorite tea shops right now is Astrolo Tea, a different kind of tea shop.  This tea shop not only has an amazing selection of teas, but they are handcrafted and made with care and attention like you can’t believe! The owner is 100% dedicated to her product and her customers.  Not only is she an amazing tea creator, she is an astrologer as well! So talented.

But on to this tea.  This tea is a unique blend of Assam, heather flowers and vanilla-all organic.  There is a beautiful sweetness that envelopes you when you first take a whiff of the dry leaf mixture. I scooped out a serving and set up the Breville One Touch on a black setting.  There are nicely laid out directions on the package.

Took a few moments for the tea to cool off and then took my first sip.  Oh. . .My. . .Goodness!!! I am going to be re-ordering this one and soon.  This is a gorgeous combination of black tea, sweet vanilla, and floral notes.  I can’t ask for a better tea right now with my constant craving of floral teas.  There is a nice full bodied feel to this tea and an ever so slight astringent background.  I can’t drink this tea fast enough to satiate the craving it stirred up.  So very good.  I love how the floral and vanilla work so well together.  Neither overpower the other and all the ingredients combine to create this gorgeous taste.   Another very well done tea from Astrolo Tea!
