Blueberry Time Machine/ Wise Ape Tea Co. -Skysamurai-

Darjeeling is a black tea, not a green tea. Sorry as a tea nerd I had to put that out there first or I couldn’t continue with the review. Though personally I think Darjeeling is unique enough that it should get it’s own tea type or be placed with oolong.

But that’s for another day, let’s discuss this tea.

It’s full on blueberry in your face paroxysm. Which is quickly tempered down with the muscatel Darjeeling. All of the other flavors blend very nicely. Nothing tries to overwhelm and upset the balance.

The aroma is dominated by blueberry but it’s delightful. This is great warm but also good cold.

Feenduft/Floragold – VariaTea-

One of my tea friends was super kind and gave me a bunch of tea pyramids by Floragold. There was so much variety and while I typically prefer loose leaf, I’ve been enjoying the convenience of being able to grab a tea bag and brew up a cup with such quick clean-up.

If I am being honest, I had low expectations of the quality of the teas. I think there is an underlying tea snob in me that always expects less from a tea bag/satchet/pyramid than I do from loose leaf teas. However, these Floragold teas have been pretty good so far.

This tea, Feenduft aka Fairy Fragrance, is a green rooibos that is meant to taste like strawberry kiwi. Personally, I think that flavor is quite spot-on. The green rooibos base compliments those flavors nicely as well. All elements are present and floral and light, which makes for a nice cuppa.

Of the Floragold teas I have tried, this one is one of my favorites. It’s convenient and the flavors are lovely. It could be a bit stronger on the strawberry kiwi and a bit less base, but that is more a personal preference for my tastes. Besides that, I am a fan.

Chestnut/Adagio Teas -Ashmanra-

I have recently been introduced to LOTS of tea by Adagio, and honestly I had no idea that they had such a huge selection.

I decided to share this pot of tea with someone who has actually had chestnuts since I never have so I would be able to tell you how authentic the taste is!

My impression of the tea is that it tastes exactly like the company description – black tea with a pleasant dryness. It is nutty, but the company says their teas are safe for people with nut allergies. The facility is also gluten free.

I took it plain but it definitely could take milk and sugar if you prefer. It had that raspy dry feel on the tongue that many Keemun teas give, a cocoa powder vibe without chocolate. It reminded of the feeling when a wee bit of the “bitter” from inside a pecan or walnut shell gets in your mouth. That may sound bad but as they said – it is a pleasant bitterness.

So what about the person who has had actual chestnuts? She said it was so authentic that she was transported back to Eastern Europe at Christmastime, buying roasted chestnuts from vendors in the street. She was quite nostalgic and I am pretty sure she would be pleased to find a box of this tea in her stocking this year!

This also gave a decent resteep. Many thanks to the Sisters for sharing this one with me!

Blueberry White/Adagio Teas -Skysamurai-

Top of the morning to you. Had to wait till I was done with my granola to drink this one because I knew it was going to overwhelm the flavor.

The aroma though, I don’t think, would have been overcome. It’s intensely blueberry. Not the artificial type but that same smell you get from blueberries in blueberry muffins. Delightful. This can be found in both the dry and wet aroma, surprisingly. The wet aroma, I find, generally lacks the fruity aromas as they percolate into the water.

The flavor is good both hot and cold the blueberry flavor is dominate while the white tea gently sits on your palate with a few earthy tidbits. I would try to guess what type of white tea this is but honestly it’s ctc’d too much to tell.

Lemon Tea/Indias Tea – Teaequalsbliss-

This is the first tea I have tried from Indias Tea and I have to say I really enjoyed it! You can’t go wrong with a hefty black tea base and a lovely, puckery lemon flavor to pair along side with it!

Indias Tea says their Lemon Tea ‘swirls up your mood to the brim with its tongue tickling taste alongside a squash of freshness’ and I would have to agree with that!

They also say that their ‘Lemon Tea is here to set your mood rolling with an instant gush of thrill through its tangy surprise in every sip and a hint of spices as you relish on the drink towards entirety’…but I have to say my FAVORITE part of what they have to say about this offering is that it doesn’t have a ‘time stamp’ and can be enjoyed any time of day! YAY!

I achieved the amber hue in my cup after infusing about a tablespoon of the loose leaf for about 3 minutes – just as suggested!

This is a real winner from Indias Tea and a great way to start (or finish) the day!
