It seems like forever ago since I drank a tea from David’s Tea. Today I’m sharing with you their Chocolate Covered Almond flavored Black Tea. This tea is NOT currently listed on their website but according to the package does NOT contain dairy.
It claims that this is sweet, crunchy, and totally addictive. I would certainly agree that it IS a tasty treat! Cocoa, Carob, and Almonds are the addictive trinity here, friends! This tea also contains yerba mate, sugar, and flavorings.
Aside from the yummy-goodness of the flavor of this tea I have to say that I was overly impressed that it contained a black tea and Yerba Mate blended base. Because it had so much flavor it was hard to pick out the Yerba Mate flavor by itself but I appreciate that it was in there, regardless!
It’s sweet, bold, creamy, nutty, tasty, and certainly satisfies the sweet tooth on occasion.

Chocolate Stout Brownies. . . A Quarter To Tea Blend
My birthday just recently passed and with that came a lot of people asking “what do you want for your birthday?” This seems like a simple question yet I have a bit of an impulse control problem so I tend to buy the things I want as soon as I see them, which makes it surprisingly difficult to request reasonable gifts. However, this year I knew just what to ask for…the monthly subscription to A Quarter to Tea! Every time I read about their new teas of the month, my mouth waters and now that they deliver to Canada, I knew it would be the perfect gift.
My first box arrived days ago and everything sounded awesome so today I just grabbed one tea and got brewing. I ended up pulling out the Chocolate Stout Brownies tea, a Temi black tea. The smell of the dry leaf was so fragrant with notes of mouthwatering chocolate while the flowery hops were speckled about. Amazingly, the smell of the dry leaf transfers over to the taste. There is a great does of honey from the base (so much so that I had to double check that I didn’t accidentally grab another tea from the box, Boxty with honey) that quickly melds with the silky chocolate undertones. I can pick up notes of the hops in the scent and it lingers underneath everything in, a bit citrusy, a bit savory, and certainly a seamless transition to the slightly bitter base tea which remains only noticeable in so far that it’s contrast to the other flavors highlights the sweeter and creamier notes present in the mug. The flavors come together perfectly to be both reminiscent of a stout (well the idea of a stout, with less coffee notes and bitterness) and a fudgey brownie, though leaning more towards to brownie side of things.
I am not sure how Lauren at A Quarter to Tea masters these flavors but this is one unique blend. I am quite pleased with this introduction to her monthly subscription boxes and if the teas in the box are anything like this one, I know I will continue to be pleased. This is certainly a birthday gift I will not regret asking for and I look forward to the next few months of boxes that are in store for me.

Passage du Desir from August Uncommon. . . . .
Fun fact – If you google “Passage du Desir”, your top result will be for an adult shop and not this tea. I suppose that makes sense given that roughly translates to “Passage of Desire”. However, it took me by surprise because for some reason, in light of my tea obsession, I always figure that the teas I look up will be the top result.
Anyways, when I finally found the webpage for this particular blend, I noted the description said it was a rich black tea with chili and chocolate. So imagine my surprise when the first thing I tasted was roasted chestnut?! I scrolled down on the page and realized that that flavor was indeed supposed to be present so I kept drinking. The nuttiness builds and compliments the cocoa flavor. Since it is cocoa husks, it is a little earthier than I personally like but by no means offensive – just preference on my part. As per the site, this should also taste of honey and dark rum and though I can sort of see where the rum component is coming from, the honey, much like the chili, is lost on me.
Ultimately, I don’t think this blend was for me. The flavor notes I was looking for seemed to be hidden from my taste buds while those tastes that I don’t particularly enjoy have taken over. This is not to say that this is a bad tea as it is very rich while still being smooth. Though I can see how this would be well liked, it just wasn’t to my personal preferences.

Perfect for Valentine’s Eve: An Evening with Eros from Banff Tea Co.
Just like a good Valentine’s date, An Evening with Eros tea blend comes bearing roses and chocolate.
There’s enough of both ingredients that you can see chocolate chips and petals scattered throughout the dry leaf. The namesake of this blend is Eros, the Greek god of love, and since this is a decaf rooibos blend, it’s the perfect brew for a late night out or a cozy evening in.
The vanilla rooibos is the star player in this blend, coupled with gentle swirls of chocolate and flowers. Raisins and elderberries bring additional sweetness and play well with the natural woody and caramel notes of the rooibos.
This blend is easy and drinkable, though not the most unusual blend I’ve tried. I think this tea is best for its novelty for a romantic occasion.
With Valentine’s Day on my mind, I find myself reaching for An Evening with Eros to help treat myself to something festive and to keep me warm on a February night.

MiCacao. . a Cacao Tea. . .Everyone should have some in their tea stash!
I’ve never experienced 100% cacao tea before. I’ve seen it in different tea blends but I’ve never enjoyed the tea on its own. I was quite excited when MiCacaco contacted the SororiTea Sisters to see if we were interested in reviewing. I had so many ideas on how I personally could use this tea.
First off, this tea on its own is amazing. I’m not a chocolate fan but even I found myself craving this tea as an afternoon snack. Brewed up with 8 oz of prepped water, this tea will curb any sweet tooth craving you may get. At least for me it did. When this tea is brewing you get a wonderfully rich chocolate fragrance that makes you instantly start to drool. I was surprised by how much this tea actually had me staring at the timer. I couldn’t wait for the 5 minute steep to finish. Rich chocolate notes greet you first sip in. They remind me of a dark chocolate taste but without the bitter notes that seem to always detract me from eating dark chocolate. This tea was really delicious and one that you find yourself coming back for me. Simple but spot on chocolate heaven. . even for me.
But I have to say, as much as I loved this tea on its own, where it really shines is when you start experimenting and using this tea in different ways. This tea is so incredibly versatile. I’ve found myself adding this tea to my coffee lattes (I froth up this tea -brewed for a few more minutes- with some cream) to create a chocolate frothed finish.
I’ve also started adding this tea to my morning fiber smoothie. And holy cow is this tea giving me all the chocolate loving I need to spruce up this meh drink I’ve been making.
Every morning I take my leftover coffee (sometimes I also use a English breakfast tea or a black flavored tea), cream, ice and a banana along with a tablespoon of psyllium husk and blend for a smoothie to enjoy on my morning commute. The other day I thought that my morning smoothie needed a kick of chocolate so here is what I did.
-Brewed up English Breakfast Tea from Pinky Out Tea (3 minute steep)
-Brewed up MiCacao Cacao Tea in a seperate infuser for 6 minutes
-Mixed up a banana with the MiCacao Cacao Tea and poured all ingredients including a tablespoon of psyllium husk and fat free cream into my blender with ice.
-Blended all together and enjoyed
Chocolate Banana Tea!! This morning drink was simply amazing and one I’ll be enjoying for time and time again.
So I guess what I’m trying to say is check this lovey organic cacao tea out. You’ll be incredibly happy that you did! All that chocolate goodness with 0 calories. . doesn’t get much better than that!
