We at SororITea Sisters adore our friends at Simpson & Vail so that is why we thought we would dedicate today’s posts to all things Simpson & Vail! We hope you enjoy our reviews and find some goodies to try for yourself! ~The SororiTea Sisters

Louisa May Alcott’s Green Tea Blend from Simpson & Vail Tea smells AMAZING. I mean A….MAZE…ing! Right away the aroma reminded me of strawberry Jolly Ranchers. This was even BEFORE I infused the tea! Once I did that it wasn’t as powerful aroma-wise but it still smelled like candy. This time around maybe more like Mike and Ikes. Regardless it was an impressive sniff!

The ingredients of Louisa May Alcott’s Green Tea Blend from Simpson & Vail Tea are as follows…Green tea, apple pieces, flavoring, strawberry pieces and rose petals. The strawberry flavor is prominent but the apple gives it a nice evening effect much like a teeter-tatter. The green tea base is medium in strength but it works perfectly with this flavored tea. The rose petals give it a bit of floral flavor especially at the end of the sip on to the after taste.

This tea is part of the Literary Tea Collection at S&V. Louisa May Alcott’s Green Tea Blend from Simpson & Vail Tea shows off Alcott’s appreciation of flowers much like many of her works seemed to include. There was also a nod to strawberries in Little Women where this tribute of a tea seemed to stem from. I really enjoyed this flavored green tea. The aroma really sucked me in – I have to say! I played along for the taste and ended up LOVING it! YUM!

Early in Little Women, while visiting a sick Laurie, Jo says that her sister Meg’s blancmange is made “very nicely.” Later, her own attempt turns out “lumpy” and accompanied by strawberries that were “not as ripe as they looked.” Our blend follows Meg’s example and is almost, as Laurie says, “too pretty to [drink].” Combining almond and strawberry flavors, this blend brews to a delicious tea that is fruity and aromatic. It manages to be both sweet and light thanks to the Chunmee green tea base and the gentle floral notes added by the rose petals.

Ingredients: Green tea, apple pieces, flavoring, strawberry pieces and rose petals.

#FanaticFriday: Hufflepuff House Blend from The Forest Witch

I’m going to get all ‘Harry Potter on your arses” today and to do that I would like to introduce you to Hufflepuff House Blend from The Forest Witch.  It’s the tea I’m featuring during #FanaticFriday here at Sororitea Sisters!

In our home we currently have 4 furkids…3 dogs and a cat.  Hubby and I have jokingly said in the past that Paco our full Chihuahua would probably resided in Hufflepuff while Charlie our feral cat would set up shop in Slytherin.  Riley – our Corgi/Lab mix would most likely fit in with Griffindor.  Finally, Cricket, our Chihuahua/Toy Rat Terrier would side with those in Ravenclaw.  Yes…I’m really that nerdy, folks!  I’m glad I’m not the only one and I’m glad there are fan teas out there including Hufflepuff House Blend from The Forest Witch.

What I’m not completely clear on are the ingredients in this honeybush tea.  While I am to eat vegan I am sure there are things that slip through the cracks.  If I know something is not vegan I will not consume it.  I saw on the Etsy Shop that the ingredients of this offering were: Honeybush, Lemon and orange pieces, calendula petals, essences of cake and warm icing which I assume are flavorings because I didn’t see actual cake/bread/icing in the loose mix.  Fingers crossed and if it was my error I’m truly sorry!  What I can tell you is that Hufflepuff House Blend from The Forest Witch was pretty tasty and I think House Hufflepuff would be proud!  I could see myself sitting in the basement near the fire sipping on this for sure!

The flavors of orange, lemon, and honeybush are first and foremost in this flavor on the tongue.  There is a sweet yet smooth consistency to the sip.  I’m sipping on Hufflepuff House Blend from The Forest Witch hot but also letting it cool at room temperature as I sip and I can already tell that it would be outstanding as an iced tea, as well!

#FanaticFriday: Sherl Grey from Geeky Teas

I have always had a love hate relationships with bergamot and earl grey blends. But when I saw Sherl Grey Tea from Geeky Teas, I had to try it. Well because I’m sort of obsessed with Sherlock. I even named my new puppy Benedict after the lead actor of Sherlock.

Sherlock is one of those shows that you watch one episode and you are hooked. Each episode is almost like a mini movie and with our schedule with 4 boys, watching an hour and a half episode a night causes havoc.  But this show is captivating and  extremely engaging.  We binged on all available seasons in just a few weeks. We actually formed family time around the show. But enough about the show, let us chat tea!

Sherl Grey isn’t your typical earl grey blend. The flavors are light and subtle but full of flavor.  First whiff of the blend I knew I was in for a treat.

Brewed up with water prepped at 212F and allowed to steep for about 4 minutes, this blend yielded one of the best earl grey teas I’ve had.  The tea tasted fresh and though the bergamot was present, I didn’t feel overwhelmed by that notable flavor. I was able to enjoy the lovely mix of citrus tang, black tea base, a creamy lush texture, and a slight berry twist at the end of every sip. Incredibly enjoyable and one that I will be ordering more of to enjoy when I’m watching the next season of Sherlock.

This is one of the better tea blends I’ve had from Geeky Teas. Even my husband asked me if we could order more of this one. I can’t wait to try this tea on ice!
