Blackberry Cobbler from Pinch of Geek

A couple weeks ago, my husband and I went out and had a mixed berry cobbler for dessert. We weren’t even that hungry, but we ate nearly to the point of tummy-explosion because it was just that good.

This tea tastes just like that ‘zert. The rooibos and spices make up the crumbles, and the rich berries fill in the rest. There are no artificial flavors in this, and you can really tell.

It’s like wandering around on a hiking trail and stuffing them into your mouth.

And wondering about whether that’s okay. Trails are always like “take only photos; leave only footprints.”

But what about a belly full of blackberries? Because I am basically foraging like a cavewoman every time I spot berries in the wild. My mouth and hands are covered in blood-like stains. Like I committed a heinous crime out there.

What I’m saying is basically that I love blackberries, past the point of acceptability, and this tea channels that. The people in charge of this blog definitely chose the right recipient for this tea. Except they only sent me ONE BAG, which was a little cruel. I’ve had my cup, and now I’m sniffing the mug in sadness. Next time I’m running low on tea, I’m definitely snapping this up.

Blackberry Cobbler is a secret blend of black, chestnut, Thai, and rooibos teas with dried blackberries and spices including cinnamon. It smells of holidays and home. Lovely blend especially when served with a touch of sugar and cream!

The tea has caffeine but no added sugar. The tea will appear brown from the very real spices added! This is not an artificially flavored tea because it is an actual blend of spices, fruit, and tea that taste and smell of the real thing.

Due to the complex blend or fruit, tea, and spices, this tea is only available in bags.

Luna Tea from Moongleam Tea Shoppe #VeganMoFo2016

Today’s prompt for Vegan MoFo is greyscale so I couldn’t resist posting about an earl grey tea!

Luna Tea from Moongleam Tea. I’m not going to lie…I love the name of the tea as well as the name of the tea company! My love for this tea goes beyond the names, folks! The ingredients include Black Tea, Lavender, Chamomile, Bergamot, and Basil. You may already know that I cannot get enough black tea in my life! I start each day with at least 1 (or 5). The Lavender is strong in this flavored black tea but I like it! Chamomile is one of the ingredients I could normally go without but if done right I can enjoy. Let’s just say that the Chamomile in Luna Tea from Moongleam Teas is done right! The Bergamot offers the citrus, juiciness I was craving. And the Basil seems to even everything out nicely.

With all of this in mind I have to say that this blend of flavors awakened all of the senses and put a smile on my face, too! It’s very calming and makes for a peaceful cuppa. I found this to also be a comforting tea – much like a comfort food would be comforting on a stressful day – or a cold fall day – both of which I have been faced with lately. Luna Tea from Moongleam Teas is a pure delight!

This classically crafted tea is one of the first blends I ever created.
Smooth bergamot, coupled with chamomile, black tea, lavender, and basil, gives this tea a punctuating freshness. I have always loved Earl Grey because of the Bergamot in it, so I tweaked it to make it even better!

Happy Witch Blend from Sunshine Cottage

One of my favorite Etsy shops is Sunshine Cottage. They offer great flavored teas, tea accessories, and other wonderful items sure to make you smile.  So naturally when I saw they had a tea named Happy Witch Blend.. . I was all over it!

il_570xn-1020800878_kguvHappy Witch Blend is a mix of sweet apples, cinnamon, spices, and a touch of vanilla flavoring. A wonderful fall treat to be sure. I grabbed my tea pot and instantly started steeping.

A few minutes later, I had myself a gorgeous brew waiting for me to try. This tea had one of those amazing wonderful fragrances that make you just sit back and enjoy the moment.

One sip in and this tea was exactly what I was looking. Fresh sweet apple notes mingling with a mix of different spices that remind you of chai.  The vanilla did give way to a sweetness that I noticed right away.  The black tea base lent itself to subtle malty notes that I found myself really enjoying. They contrasted nicely with all of the sweet notes coming from the vanilla and apple flavoring. happy-witch-blend

As good as this tea was without any add ins, I think a touch of honey would really elevate the tea even more. Or even a shot of whiskey or brandy. . .which is what I did along with a dollop of cream and a dusting of cinnamon on top.

This tea became a decent flavored tea to an insanely amazing treat. Perfect for those cold fall/winter nights that will soon be upon us here in the Midwest. Rich, decadent, sweet, with that heat that really resonates with you.

Simply delicious however you enjoy the tea!

Elevating Your Tea Game: Halloween Cozies from Linda’s Passion

Drinking tea is only half of the fun. Having a really unique tea accessory or mug is the other part of the tea drinking process. I can’t explain it but having the right mug in hand with a relaxing freshly steeped brew just really puts you in the right frame of mind.

halloweenteacozy2That is exactly how I feel about my amazing Halloween Tea Pot Cozy from Linda’s Passion, an Etsy shop.  I mean just look at how great my tea pot looks!

This particular tea pot cozy has wonderfully spooky fabric that is made to look like the outside of a haunted house, perfect for Halloween. Pack full of ghosts and spiders, this cozy really brings about that holiday feel to any tea party or just for yourself!

I’ve used this cozy so many times since receiving it and I have to say, I really enjoy having this additional accessory. Handmade, this cozy gives your tea pot that extra barrier to help keep your tea warm. It used to be that I would rarely make giant pots of tea by myself, but with this new cozy, I’ve found myself doing just that more and more. I just love it and will use it all year round, not just during October. I’m sort of a horror geek, so this fits perfectly.

Each cozy is lined with fleece-helping keep the tea or water warm for about an hour. I have to say this is pretty spot on.  All you do is basically just slip the cozy onto the tea pot and tighten the cording. That is it. Super easy to put on. I don’t own  a lot of larger tea pots and the one I do own is a funny shape. As you can see in the picture above, the cozy fits just fine on mine!

Linda’s Passion offers so many awesome Halloween designs, I mean just look! I’ve got my eye on a few of these. . .

Each handmade cozy comes with 4 adorable fabric coasters, which I find myself grabbing all the time. I’m always spilling a drip  here and there and its nice that I have these handy.    So many great cozies! I just need to buy more teapots to fit these adorable cozies!

Be sure to check out Linda’s Passion Etsy Shop. It’s full of these wonderful cozies and for all different seasons and designs. Like I said earlier, I’ve got my eye on several of them! Perfect for that gift giving season that is just around the corner.

Lavender Dream from Dave and Solomons Tea

Dave and Solomons are a mother and son tea blending company, currently selling their indie creations on their Etsy store. I hadn’t come across them before this sample arrived with me, but it’s always nice to discover a new tea company, if a little dangerous for the bank account!

lavender-dreams2Lavender Dream is a fruit and herbal blend, combining the sweet fruitiness of peach with the light floral of lavender. It sounds a little odd to begin with, but I was pleased to discover that they’re actually two flavours which work incredibly well together. The dry leaf itself is incredibly pretty, with dark pink rose petals, bright blue cornflowers, and purple lavender buds, plus large (1-2cm square) chunks of dried papaya.

I used 1 tsp of leaf for my cup, and gave it 5 minutes in boiling water. The result is a medium orange-brown liquor, which smells wonderful and which filled the entire kitchen with the scent of fuzzy peach.  To taste, it’s very much as you might expect. The peach isn’t particularly natural-tasting, hence “fuzzy” peach, but it’s strong and incredibly juicy, and I’m more than happy with that. The lavender is definitely playing second fiddle here, not really making itself known until very much the end of the sip. When it does, it’s a pleasant counterpoint to the sweetness of the peach, adding a delicate floral flavour, and just a hint of perfume.

I expected this one to be a lot heavier on the lavender, given that it’s called Lavender Dream. Having tasted it, I feel Peach Dream lavenderdreams3would be a much more appropriate name, because it is primarily a peach flavoured tea. I’m not the biggest fan of floral teas, particularly when they’re herbal blends, but in this case it shouldn’t put you off. The lavender really isn’t very prominent, but the contribution it makes is balancing one, and pleasant to boot.

As  this is a  caffeine free blend, it’ll likely be making a regular appearance in my evening rotation for a good long while to come. I love the juicy peach notes, and I’d actually like to try this one iced (although I might have to wait until summer, or a rare warm day, for that now.) I’ll definitely be trying more blends from Dave and Solomons Tea in the future on the strength of this experience. There’s certainly some skilled blending going on!
