What can I say? I like tea. Scratch that! I LOVE TEA. By now…you already know that about us here at SororiTEA Sisters. I mean, we’ve dedicated an entire blog to it. A blog that has a minimum of 2 posts per day – everyday. But recently you may have noticed 3 or 4 posts per day! It’s true! SororiTEA Sisters has kicked it up a notch! We ALWAYS have 2 reviews each and every day but most days we will have 3 or 4 on the average! That’s because LiberTEAs and I have so much to say about the teas we have been tasting and we want to make sure we pass our findings on to you!
So…without further “a due” – here is my first post of today! It’s Ceylon Nuwara Eliya from Drink T. It’s a very nice black tea! And I LOVE Black Tea! I start almost every day with at least 1 Black Tea! Sometimes I drink 5 or 6 Black Teas a day! This tea I have started more than one day with!
I LOVE the color of this…very vibrant! It’s also VERY flavorful – bold and slightly tart or on the verge of bitter but a good bitter, mind you. It has a refreshing aftertaste that lingers, too, which is nice and tasty and somewhat unexpected but nevertheless appreciated!
Superior Pouchong from Drink T

Pouchong tea is a type of oolong closer to a green tea than a typical oolong. This is due to Pouchong tea being oxidized 15% or less while most Oolongs are oxidized about 30-70%. Pouchong means “the wrapped kind”, referring to the practice of wrapping the leaves in paper during the oxidation process.
Our Pouchong brews a golden green liquor with mild sweetness and delicate floral notes. It has a smooth flavor, making it a perfect everyday tea.
Taster’s Review:
There are people who would consider this to be a green tea, while others would consider it to be an Oolong. As for me, I consider this to be neither. I think that Pouchong teas deserve to be in a class all by themselves.
This Pouchong from Drink T is outstanding. It possesses a beautiful floral quality that is quite strong and even a little sharp. The flavor is also sweet and buttery, with hints of vegetation.
The mouthfeel of this tea is extraordinary. It is smooth and silky, and because there is very little astringency to this tea, there is nothing that stands in the way of that smooth silkiness lingering upon the palate long after the sip. It’s very enjoyable.
This is an incredibly relaxing cup. It has a pleasant sweetness and needs no additions. I prefer it hot, but it is quite refreshing chilled too. A perfectly delightful cuppa!
Pi Lo Chun from Drink T

One of the rarest of green teas, Pi Lo Chun is grown in orchards amongst fruit trees. The sweet fragrance of the fruit blossoms are absorbed by the tea leaves while growing. The short harvest season, from the Spring Equinox (end of March) to the Clear Brightness (early April), also contributes to its exclusivity.
Our Pi Lo Chun uses only the finest, most tender leaves. It’s hand picked and processed in the higher elevations of Taiwan where the tea bushes are shrouded in mist and kept cool by the high mountain air.
Sweet and crisp, this tea is well rounded and will finish with a clean, lingering taste.

On my personal rating level – I have this currently set at an 89.
It has a slight buttered veggie scent but it doesn’t really taste like buttered veggies. It’s not grassy at all! I like that! I like that it sort of fakes you out! It’s also sweet but even a little floral. The Finish and after taste are both sweet and clean!
Don’t let this one pass you by – or you pass it by, rather! It’s a nice cuppa!

Taster’s Review:
The only place I could locate this tea on the Drink T website is as part of this Tea Lover’s Root Basket. (And what a lovely basket it is! Who wouldn’t love to receive it?)
This is one of the more fragrant Assam teas that I’ve ever encountered. The aroma of the dry leaf has notes of fruit and spice, and maybe even a distant flowery scent. Once brewed, the tea takes on a fragrance that reminds me of freshly baked bread. It made my mouth water just smelling it! In fact, it was the scent that told me which sweetener to use with this tea – HONEY! Fresh baked bread with a drizzle of honey sounds like a slice of heaven!
Of course, I tasted it before sweetening, and I did note a light, honey-esque tone in the background. This is a very malty tea. It has a bold, bright flavor that is strong enough to help me shake off that sleepy feeling that I feel when I first wake up. You know that feeling? The “what am I doing up, I want to go back to bed” feeling? This tea helps me shake that feeling and perks me up to get started for the day.
This has a clean and somewhat lighter taste than some Assam teas, it doesn’t have as much toothsomeness (is that a word? Well, it is now!) This reminds me a little of a Keemun in that respect, where it has a light, wine-like note to it. The light spicy note to it is also very Keemun-like.
This is definitely a very special Assam!

Taster’s Review:
Ceylon. Typically, Ceylon teas are very smooth and unassuming. By that, I mean that they aren’t particularly stout or brisk. They aren’t particularly strong, nor do they generally possess any characteristics to them that make them stand out among other black teas such as an Assam or a Nilgiri or a Yunnan.
This smooth and unassuming nature of a typical Ceylon tea is what makes it a perfect choice for flavoring – because it won’t be too strong or brisk and overwhelm the more delicate features of the flavor being added. It will just … be there. Like your favorite pair of shoes: sturdy yet comfortable.
But this is no typical Ceylon tea! Grown in the high mountains of Sri Lanka, this Ceylon tea has some real tooth to it. It is BRISK. It even possesses a malty character that is quite uncharacteristic for a Ceylon! This Ceylon tea is just too good to add flavoring to because it has enough of its own nuances to it that it doesn’t need anything extra. It’s a fantastic stand-alone tea.
There is a bake-y quality to this tea that is deep and rich and yet there is an underlying smooth tone to it and even a sweet honey note. There is a fair amount of drying astringency to this tea as well.
This is a very surprising Ceylon! One that would be quite good served iced as well as hot. When served hot, it is quite delicious served without sweetener or cream, but it is able to stand up to those additions should you wish to add them. When served iced, I like to add a little bit of sweetener to it and a thin slice or two of lemon (or lime, or even orange!)
This High Mountain Ceylon from Drink T is a very unique, delicious Ceylon that I recommend to all tea drinkers, especially those who consider a Ceylon to be boring. This Ceylon may change your mind!
