Taster’s Review:

Ohhhh YUMmmmm!

Chocolate covered strawberries!

Forgive me a moment as I sit here and indulge in this yummy tea!

The aroma wafting from my teacup is that of chocolate and berry, with notes of earthy black tea.  Shanti Tea has managed to capture the essence of chocolate covered strawberries in this Strawberry Seduction Black Tea quite well.  It not only smells like a strawberry that has just been dunked in chocolate fondue, but, it also tastes like that chocolate enrobed strawberry has been liquefied and stirred into a cup of rich, satisfying black tea.

There is a nice amount of chocolate to this cup (sure, it could use more, but, then, that’s the chocoholic in me talking!  As it is, it has a fair amount of chocolate, but, more chocolate always equals better), and the strawberry notes are not overpowered by the chocolate or the black tea.  There is a good balance of flavors here.

The strawberry is sweet with a barely there tart note at the finish.  (You know that little tingly feeling you get on your tongue after you’ve eaten a fresh, ripe berry?  Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about.)  It’s a very flavorful strawberry note, I like that it doesn’t taste like fake strawberry.  The black tea is not overly assertive, but, it is strong enough to stand up and be tasted as I sip this tea.  Strong … but not overpowering in any way.

Overall, this tea is a real winner – if you like chocolate covered strawberries, this is a tea you should try!

Taster’s Review:

There was a time when chocolate covered cherries were my favorite confection.  I used to actually crave them!  It’s been a while since that time, and I’ve discovered new favorites.  However, as I sip this tea, I find myself with that old craving!

This tea tastes very reminiscent of a really good cherry cordial.  I can taste hints of the sweet liqueur center – creamy and just a little sweet, with just a hint of brandy.  The chocolate tastes exquisitely rich:  dark, delicious chocolate!  YUM!

The cherry tastes sweet and just a little tangy.  As I continue to sip, I notice the tartness of the cherry develops a bit, but it doesn’t really become sour.  I like the way the cherry flavor develops here, because with the typical chocolate covered cherry, the flavor becomes too cloying before the flavors of the cherry have much chance to develop.

This is like a chocolate covered cherry – reinvented!

And what makes this even better than the confection is the black tea!  The black tea base works really well with this blend, it tastes bold and even a little malty, and I’m not getting much bitterness from the cup.  It is a very well-rounded cup of tea.

Even though I’ve only tried two of the six new teas in the Box of Chocolates sampler, this one is my favorite of the two I’ve tried.  It’s not only reignited my love for cherry cordials, but, refined it … I don’t think I could settle for an ordinary cherry cordial after trying this amazing tea!

Taster’s Review:

Yum!  This is sooooo good!

I’ve tried a few different chocolate covered strawberry type blends over the years, but I must say that this one is definitely one of the very best that I’ve tried.  The flavor is alive with real strawberry flavor and delicious chocolate-y taste.

The aroma upon opening the package just blew me away.  It smelled so rich with chocolate tones and a strong strawberry essence.  It maintains that scent after brewing, allowing the nose to enjoy this tea as much as the palate!

The strawberry flavor comes in subtle and remains subtle through the sip.  Where the flavor really pops is in the aftertaste, there is a sweet berry flavor and that tingly tart note that you get after eating a fresh strawberry.

With my first couple of sips, I found myself wishing there was more chocolate flavor, and what is really nice is that somehow the tea heard my silent wish and delivered!  As the tea cools slightly, the chocolate intensifies.  Sweet, creamy, luscious chocolate, with its classic bittersweet undertones.

This is such a deliciously romantic tea.  It would make a perfect gift for your favorite tea lover this Valentine’s Day.  The flavor is so luxurious and indulgent!

I love this tea!

Taster’s Review:

My first impression of this tea was similar to that of TeaEqualsBliss – chocolate covered cherries.  As I continue to sip it, though, I am finding myself more drawn to this tea than I would be to a box of chocolate covered cherries.

Not that I dislike chocolate covered cherries … it’s just that I find them a bit too cloying.  But that is where this tea and the confection begin to part ways.  While this tea is sweet, it isn’t overwhelmingly so.  I think the Schizandra berries provide just enough tartness to the cup to cut through some of the sweeter notes.

The chocolate is a dark chocolate flavor.  It is rich and smooth.  The cherry flavor is sweet, and I can also taste a hint of that distinctive floral note from the rose.  Together these components make for a deliciously rich, chocolate-y treat.

The black tea base is a fairly mellow, smooth-tasting tea.  While it does not lend a strong, stand-out flavor to the cup; it does provide a delicious flavor that enhances the complexity of the chocolate tones very nicely.

This tea is plenty sweet on its own – it needs no additions.  Of course, if you like a sweeter tea, a little sugar won’t hurt it.  And if you like a creamier tea, milk would be very nice in this tea as well.  A delicious indulgence any time of the day!
