Peppermint from Ceremonie Tea

This tea sample came to me in an individually wrapped and sealed box featuring the beautiful Ceremonie tea logo on the outside and a jewelry-box-inspired light blue color on the inside.  Easily one of the nicest tea sample packaging I’ve seen lately.

The tea itself is simple: pure peppermint.  The flavor is cooling (“sparkling” as they put it), definitely the menthol-cold feeling of peppermint and not the sweeter green mint of spearmint.  Though I should say that the peppermint has its own sweetness, a smooth almost-vanilla creaminess alongside all the icy herbal flavors.

Peppermint is one of those herbal teas that boasts all kinds of health benefits, from aiding digestion, to increasing mental focus, and more.  Personally, I like to drink it on days when allergies or dry weather make my throat a little itchy. The sensory combination of warm tea and cooling peppermint are relaxing and soothing.  Since it’s a caffeine-free herbal blend, it’s a great night time brew, perfect to help you ease into the evening.

#FanaticFriday: Spiced Cucumber Melon Green Tea from 52Teas

Because I am such a fan of 52Teas, I thought I’d take over SororiTea Sisters to chat about a few of their blends. Though this blend isn’t a new one, I finally had a chance to try it so its new to me!

Spiced Cucumber Melon Green Tea is one that arrived in one of my mystery grab bags that 52Teas offered not too long ago.  I’m a huge fan of their green teas but being one that isn’t a huge fan of spicy teas, I wasn’t sure what I would think. But I wanted to go out of my comfort zone a bit, so I steeped up my water to 175F, allowed the tea to steep for a few minutes, cool for a bit, and took my first sip.

This blend is a mix of green tea, cucumber, peppermint, lime leaves, ginger, black pepper, habanero pepper and natural flavors.  What I found so fascinating about this blend was how refreshingly cool the tea came across while having a spicy kick in the background. An odd mix of flavors but one that really works well.

Each sip yielded this gorgeous cucumber melon flavor with hints of lime and peppermint (think mojito style) at the beginning and the aftertaste is where the  spicy kick came to play.

A wonderfully strange mix of flavors but one that I’m loving! Such a refreshing mix of cucumber and melon with an air of spice.  This blend is still violable but I’m not sure for how long seeing as I just emailed 52Teas to see how much of this tea they have left. I might just have to buy the remaining inventory!

Spring is here and with that brings some fresh flavors – like Cucumbers and Melons! Last year’s Cucumber Cantaloupe Oolong went over really well, so I thought I’d like to bring the flavors of cucumber and melon together again but this time with a green tea base and with a touch of warm spices to contrast the cool fruit flavors of cucumber and melon (yes, cucumber is a fruit. I looked it up on the internet and I know the internet wouldn’t lie to me, right?) Then I added a touch of mint and lime to perk up the palate.

It’s sweet and gently spiced. It’s refreshing and it’s a little different. It’s really good.

Taster size is approximately 1/2 ounce.

ingredients: organic green teas, organic freeze-dried cucumber, organic ginger root, organic peppermint leaves, organic lime leaves, organic crushed black pepper, dried habanero peppers and organic natural flavors.

Taster’s Review:

Aka Teas is one of my newest love affairs when it comes to tea shops.  I love their hand blended teas and the flavors each tea yields.  When I saw this one, I knew it would be instant love. And it was.

I’m a sucker for mint teas.  I have digestive issues so I find mint so refreshing and cooling.  Almost relaxing because of the cooling effect it seems to have on my body.  Pair that up with another love of mine, Yerba Mate and you have yourself a match made in heaven.  And that is exactly how I see this tea.

I dumped the sample of this tea into my One Touch Breville and hit the Herbal setting for 5 minutes @212F.  I wanted for that lovely beeping noise to alert me that my tea was ready.

I let this cool for a moment and dove right in.  The mint hit me first.  Such a lovely spearmint.  Clean and refreshing.  The Yerba Mate had a solid roasted flavor and that is the second flavor that hit my taste buds.  The two combined was a unique flavor but one I really enjoyed.  A mint refreshing cooling invigorating roasted tea.  Simple but full of flavor.  Each flavor played off the other and one flavor didn’t dominate the other.  If you are a mint fan and an yerba mate fan, I think you’ll like this one too.

Taster’s Review:

I love my herbal teas.  I drink them all times of the day.  I actually tend to drink them more in the afternoon than I do at night.  I was so excited when I found Brew Mama Herbalism’s Etsy Store. The first blend I tried, Morning Motivator was just amazing. So I had high expectations when it comes to any blends from Brew Mama Herbalism.

I decided to go with Dream today.  It has been a crazy day at work today for some reason so I thought I nice soothing tea may just help calm my nerves a bit.  I also plan on finishing my latest book in the Aunt Dimity’s series  – Aunt Dimity and the Summer King.  These novels are cozy and charming and need a tea that fits that bill to truly enjoy the experience.

I steeped this one up like a traditional herbal-212F-4 minutes.  I started to get a bit worried when I noticed the lavender in this blend.  I’m typically not a lavender fan.  All the ingredients mingled together so well and produced a quite lovely fragrance for me to enjoy while this steeped.

Took my first sip after letting this cool for a few minutes and this tea really hit the spot.  This herbal blend is cooling and soothing with a light floral touch.  I love how very delicate this tea is.  Add in some white tea and this would be a beautiful delicate refreshing relaxing tea with a simple floral finish.   Something I am going to try later.

The ingredients really did play together well as they steeped.  The mint is probably the most noticeable flavor with the chamomile coming in close second.  Both crisp and fresh flavors.  The passion flower and lavender added in touches of floral but they didn’t overwhelm the cup at all.  Such a great herbal.  I tried this both hot and cold brewed and I feel like this tea should be brewed hot.  The cold brew brought more of the floral notes out which created an almost bite towards the end of the sip.

Just a beautiful herbal from start to finish and can definitely put you in a dream state.
