Tasters Review:
The ingredients are large and bold and it infuses to a lighter brown. I enjoy this one both hot and cold! This has a WONDERFUL Vanilla aroma with a buttery hint followed by an array of spices.
The taste is remarkable. It’s sweet and there is spice but I think more sweet than spice. The vanilla is wonderfully intense and creamy-sweet. The orange comes out to play the more it cools.
This is one awesome offering from Persimmon Tree Tea Company!
Be Well Blend from Tea Chai Té
Leaf Type: Herbal Tisane
Where to Buy: Tea Chai Té
Product Description:
Medicinal elixir with rooibos, cardamom, cherry bark, slippery elm, licorice root & clove to relieve sore throats and stuffy sinuses. A terrific evening tea as well. Organic.
Taster’s Review:
As I mentioned in another recent review, I am trying to avoid catching the flu. This is another tea that I’m drinking a lot of lately to help in that quest.
This blend is a little on the medicinal side, but I don’t find it brackish at all. On the contrary, it’s actually rather tasty! The licorice root is sharp and sweet without overwhelming the cup. And, I can barely taste the rooibos – just a slight woodsy tone in the background. In fact, had I not seen the rooibos in the blend (and of course, read the above description), I would not have known that this was a rooibos blend.
The real stars of this cup are the cardamom and clove. I like how they invigorate the flavor of this cup with their warm spicy tone. As a result, this comes across a little like a spice melangé rather than a functional tea. It’s really quite pleasant, with the medicinal taste being more of a background characteristic rather than something that hits you right up front.
This tisane has an agreeable sweetness to it that I choose to augment with a little raw honey. This seems to emphasize the nutty tone to this cup, and makes it even more enjoyable to sip.
Steamy Cinnamon Rose from Talbott Teas
Leaf Type: Black
Where to Buy: Talbott Teas
Product Description:
Full-leaf black tea with cinnamon, orange peel and rose petals.
Taster’s Review:
Wow! This one is a keeper! Definitely one of the best ones I’ve tried from Talbott thus far.
The balance of flavors here is so nice. When I first received a sampling of it I thought “Oh, cinnamon and rose. OK.” Because, well, I have a similar blend of my own (which is rose, vanilla and cinnamon), so I thought this would taste very familiar to me. I was wrong!
The orange and clove is a nice addition. The orange perks up the overall flavor without overwhelming the other flavors, and I like the way the orange and the rose work together – it’s not a flavor combination I would have thought of, but they really taste great together. The cloves enhance the flavor of the cinnamon so that the cup doesn’t come across as too “spicy-hot” cinnamon-y.
But what would a tea be without the tea? The black tea base here is a smooth, bright black tea that is not overly aggressive. It has a very even taste to it and a medium astringency that lightly “pats” the palate dry in the finish. The aftertaste leaves lingering notes of cinnamon and rose and a faint citrus tang.
A very pleasant tea to sip. One that would make a fabulous Valentine’s Day gift for the tea lover in your life!
Organic Mountain High Chai Tea from Two Leaves And A Bud
Where To Buy: Two Leaves And A Bud
Product Description:
A traditional chai that starts with true Assam tea (not cheap “blending tea”) and adds only the true ingredients of chai: Cinnamon, Clove, and Cardamom. Fabulous with milk and honey!
Tasters Review:
I waited a while to try this one. Not sure why. Maybe because I have been tasting a lot of Chai lately. Many of them seem to be over-spiced and/or all seemed the same. After my first sip of this I knew it was different. The flavors were wonderful and I could have sworn I tasted a lovely orange flavor to it eventho it doesn’t mention citrus in the product description but I could have sworn it was there! The spices are just right for my palate and there was a bit of juicy-sweet with the spices tossed in.
In short…I really like this! The Chai flavors are subtle and the orange is just 1 step ahead of the spices! This was very nice!
