Product Description:
Green tea blended with jasmine pearls, orange peel, jasmine blossoms, and marigolds, with tangerine flavoring.
Taster’s Review:
This is awesome! A real treat for the taste buds as well as the eye and nose!
The dry leaf is beautiful. Not only are there long spears of green tea leaves in this (Sencha, perhaps?) but there are also jasmine pearls. In addition to the two different types of green tea, there is an abundance of petals and blossoms, as well as pieces of citrus peel. This not only looks beautiful, but it smells amazing too.
But none of that would really matter if it didn’t also taste good… and this does. The addition of the pearls help to give this blend a really beautiful jasmine essence. The jasmine is light and sweet, with hints of floral sharpness.
The green tea is a fresh, clean taste. It is slightly grassy, but mostly what I taste is that sweet, exhilarating freshness. It marries well with the lively citrus notes and the exotic jasmine flavor.
And as much as I’m enjoying the flavors of jasmine and green tea, the real star of this cup is the tangerine flavor. It is sweet with just the right amount of “tang” to it. Those tangy notes add a very intriguing contrast to the cup that is also sweet and floral.
I have tasted this tea a few times now, and I have to say that while it is delicious hot (and it is!) … it is even better iced. It becomes pure, light, crisp refreshment in a glass.
And now through the 28th of August, Daily Gourmet is offering of 50% savings on the Ovation Teas Summer Set of Teas. This collection includes this thirst-quenching tea – as well as four other spectacular teas! Don’t miss out on this special offer!
Citrus Punch Oolong from Shanti Tea
Leaf Type: Oolong
Where to Buy: Shanti Tea
Product Description:
The strong flavour of Oolong is is cut by the zest of citrus. The combination of strong flavours balance each other well creating a unique experience for both new and old drinkers of oolong teas.
Taster’s Review:
When I first opened the tin of this tea, I could really smell (as well as SEE) the citrus. The picture above is very accurate, there are HUGE chunks of dried fruit.
The flavor is very well-balanced. The Oolong has a smooth, rich taste with earthy notes. I am finding myself agreeing with the above product description from Shanti Tea, the flavor of the Oolong is “cut by the zest of citrus” … the citrus lightens the overall cup by cutting through some of the heavier tones of the Oolong and minimizing the thick mouthfeel. The texture is light and the taste is bright, sweet and tangy with hints of earth peeking through. Its a perfect summertime Oolong!
I enjoyed this very much hot. As a hot tea, I could taste more of the subtle nuances of the tea’s complexity. But, it is so refreshing as an iced tea … it would be difficult for me to say which I like better. This tea is not for the purists out there, but, it is a sure-fire hit for those who enjoy a flavored Oolong tea.
Lemon Sorbetti from Tea Forte
Where To Buy: Tea Forte
Product Description:
Organic green tea paired with fragrantly fresh citrus and the sweetness of wildflower honey. A delicious taste of desert any time of the day.
Tasters Review:
Lemon Sorbetti just ‘sounded’ interesting! And it’s ORGANIC! YAY! AND…it’s part of a tea sampler from Tea Forte…double YAY!
The aroma was a smooth lemon…much like a lemon meringue pie from a distance. The flavor was lovely. The sencha is a bit on the mellow side but it’s very clean and the lemon is the headliner here, but, the lemon isn’t overly loud and it’s not puckery…it’s soothing! It has hint of honey and flowers underneath, too! Nice touch!
This is nice hot or cold!
I did a great 2nd steep on this one and could taste the sencha a bit more on the end of the sip on to the after taste more on the 2nd steep. This is very tasty!
Ginger Citrus Guayusa from Runa
Leaf Type: Guayusa
Where to Buy: Runa
Product Description:
A zesty guayusa blend that wakes you up with an invigorating twist of ginger and citrus.
Taster’s Review:
I love ginger flavored teas. But even though I love the taste of ginger, I still usually brace myself for that distinctive peppery kick from the ginger. With this tea, I was surprised at just how gentle the ginger is.
It still has a bit of peppery taste, but, it is much softer than I expected. It is well-balanced with the bright citrus-y tones of the orange flavor. With this tisane, the two flavors do not compete with one another, instead, they work together to provide a smooth delivery. The orange tastes juicy and tangy-sweet, and the ginger is warm and zesty.
With this combination of flavors, the Guayusa tastes a little different. I wouldn’t say it’s “off” in any way, because I’m really enjoying the flavor of the Guayusa. Rather, I would say that the citrus and ginger seem to accent the Guayusa differently, highlighting different notes in the Guayusa. It tastes a little more vegetative and a little less earthy. It seems to have a lighter composure. It is still bold and flavorful, but it doesn’t taste quite as rich here. Still very enjoyable though.
This is a very energizing and delicious cup of tea!
Citrus Green from Caraway Tea Company
Leaf Type: Green
Where to Buy: Caraway Tea Company
Product Description:
A mild but sweet green tea, you’ll taste the tang of orange, the zing of ginger, and the sweetness of peaches. Add to that the fragrance of safflower and you have a healthy green tea with an abbundance of flavor.
Ingredients
Green Tea, ginger root, orange peel, peach, safflowers.
Taster’s Review:
Delicious!
The green tea here tastes light and fresh with a buttery undertone. It is a mild flavor that develops as I continue to sip, starting out with a lovely, mellow sweetness and by about mid-cup, I can taste subtle vegetative notes. It is very smooth with interesting bitter notes that contrast with the sweetness of the fruit flavors.
The peach and orange flavors are INTENSE! The fruit gives this cup a very pleasant sweetness, and the ginger offers a whisper of peppery heat in the background. It is not a strong ginger flavor but it is effective.
This tea makes a pleasant hot tea, but an even better iced tea. I recommend stocking up on this one for the warmer weather that approaches! This is a delightful thirst-quenching refreshment that will enchant you and your guests.
