Tasters Review:

This is one of the first online orders I placed as a new loose leaf tea drinker and oh what an introduction I got both from this tea and this company! Thinking back, this particular tea was sent as a sample with other items I ordered and it instantly went on my wish list for my next order. I didn’t find it difficult either to purchase my next order as The Persimmon Tree has a really generous rewards program! My only regret is I didn’t place my order sooner!

I shared this tea with many of my tea friends and the overall consensus was that this is a stellar tea!

I adore this tea! Its creamy, slightly tart with the lemon flavor I am finding I love in many teas, the vanilla is NOT over done and you can still taste the pouchong coming through. It has a silky creamy mouthfeel as well which I love. Whoever came up with this blend is a blending master because with so many wonderful flavor profiles going on in this tea the distinct pouchong flavor is top notch! They certainly did not skimp on the base in this tea, and the flavors do not cover it up at all yet each stand on their own quite nicely. Also it is not overly sweet which is nice, allowing one to add a little rock sugar, or whatever sweetener they prefer if they care to. This tea also holds up well to cream, almond milk, soy, again, whatever “creamer” you prefer.

This is a tea hardy enough to support whatever you wish to put into it without losing its wonderful aroma and flavors.

Oh and on the aroma … the smell is dreamy! The aromas that fill the air are that of a dessert tea yet the flavor itself does not latch on as cloying at all, even with a little added sweetener!

Generally this tea tastes like lemon bars, or vanilla cream filled lemon cookies, yet again, not in an overly sweet way.

I also find that a slightly lower heat level and a bit longer steep do this tea well. Otherwise you may find it a bit on the weak or watery side.

This tea is one of my favorites.

Taster’s Review:

If you love oolong as I do, then Mountain Tea is the site you need to be looking at!

Their oolongs are categorized into Green, Medium, and Dark and Roasted. Within each category are many wonderful selections!

Shipping was fast and furious as well.

The tea arrived with a survey regarding their shipping, customer service, and a pre-stamped envelope to send it back in! I love good customer service! Things like this show a company cares about you and your experience with them!

I love the packaging of the teas as well. Granted the bags are not resealable but the colors are vibrant with Chinese writing on them. I love pretty things.

However, the tea of course is what you want to know about so with that I am sitting here with a fragrant cup of lovely honey toned tea. Its a clear beautiful golden color that looks light and innocent but upon the sip my mouth is filled with a rich thick sensation!

There are distinct peach notes that dance off the tongue especially int he after taste – seriously fresh ripe peach! I know a lot of companies say you will pick up tasting notes in their teas and often they are accurate but often you also really have to search for them. This is something I easily detected right off the bat and it was only after I detected it that I went and read what the company said about this tea and it did mention the peach notes. I can validate the integrity of this description 100%. The citrus notes seem to be more detectable in the sides of the mouth but the peach stands out more than the citrus. As for the sugarcane notes mentioned, I feel this resonates through out the entire experience in the natural and light sweetness of the tea.

Be sure to follow steeping parameters closely. I found this tea to easily get bitter if steeped even 30 seconds too long or in improper water temperature.

Overall this is one of my new favorite oolongs, and I absolutely love oolong tea! This one has a thick mouthfeel that you could almost chew on and a deep complexity that surprises on each sip. I even get a little bit of a spice note behind the peach which reminds me of a lovely autumn peach cobbler.

Taster’s Review:

Wow!  This is so good.

As you know, I do enjoy quite a few different flavored teas, but when it comes to Oolong, I find that the ones that I favor tend to be pure, unadulterated Oolong teas.  Sure, I enjoy the flavored ones too, but, if given a choice between pure Oolong and flavored, I’ll choose the pure every time.

However, I am finding this flavored Oolong to be extraordinary … one of the best flavored Oolong teas I’ve encountered in a while.  The vanilla flavor is in perfect step with the natural creaminess of the Oolong for a very luxurious, creamy experience.  It’s so silky and creamy and delicious.

The lemon myrtle gives just the right touch of citrus.  It is not a strong tangy note – nothing that interrupts the sweet, creamy goodness of the vanilla – but it offers just a hint of citrus-y taste toward the finish so that the vanilla cream does not overwhelm the palate.

And with all this talk of the amazing vanilla taste and hints of citrus, you may have thought that the flavor of the Oolong is lost somewhere.  It isn’t.  It adds a hint of earthiness and a touch of flower (orchid?  Yes, there are distinct orchid notes), and just a hint of peach-like undertones.

If you like vanilla – you really should try this Silk Dragon from The Tea Merchant.  It takes vanilla to a whole other level.  I don’t think I’ve experienced vanilla in a tea quite like this before.  It’s really amazing.

Taster’s Review:

A creamsicle for breakfast?  Sure, if it’s this Tangerine Creamsicle from Butiki Teas!  This creamy tangerine flavored guayusa is not only delicious, but invigorating too – just the ticket to get you up and on your way!

The bold, earthy flavor of guayusa seems a really good match for the sweetness of tangerine and cream.  The flavors seem to be very harmonious in this cup.  The guayusa is a little earthy and a little vegetative, but more than that, it just tastes smooth and rich, vaguely reminiscent of coffee, but a little lighter bodied.

The tangerine notes seem to brighten the whole cup, adding a lovely sweetness and distinct citrus tang to the overall flavor.  And the cream adds just the perfect finishing touch to it, sweet, creamy, and luxurious.  This is absolutely LOVELY!

This is truly an inspired blend – one that will not only INSPIRE you to wake up, but, also put a smile on your face, ready and happy to face the day!

Taster’s Review:

I like this tea a whole lot more than I expected to.  At first, my thoughts were:  another citrus flavored green tea, okay… I’ll try it.  But I didn’t really expect a whole lot from it, and considered the combination to be boring, to be honest.  But, even though the combination of lemon, lime and green tea seems rather ordinary, this is one citrus flavored green tea that’s worth trying.

The sip starts off with sweetness from the green tea, followed by hints of a slight grassy taste.  The grassy flavor is very mellow – not at all sharp or bitter – a bit like sweet grass.  The citrus tones are subtle but it is easy to distinguish the lemon-lime combination, especially when the tea is hot.

But here is where it gets interesting.  As the tea cools, the sweetness intensifies.  By the time the tea is warm (somewhere between piping hot and room temperature), it became so deliciously sweet that I found it difficult to put my cup down!  And I also noticed that the citrus note changed somewhat.  It was still a distinct citrus-y flavor, but, somehow, the lemon and lime notes seemed to morph into an almost grapefruit-like flavor, evoking images of eating a half a grapefruit that’s been lightly sprinkled with sugar.  Sweet and absolutely refreshing.

As I said, I wasn’t expecting much when I first brewed this tea, but, I was very pleasantly surprised by just how much I enjoyed it.  This one gets two enthusiastic thumbs up!
