Ingredients: black tea, sunflower blossoms, flavor, mallow blossoms

Tasters Review:

I’m always looking for something OTHER than run-of-the-mill Earl Grey and this one fits the bill.  Sure, it’s floral, but that is the draw with this one!  It’s strong but creamy.  The Bergamot isn’t the focus here it’s very much in the background and contributes a little more than a hint of it in the overall taste of the tea.  The stereotypical Earl Grey taste is a bit more subtle that most and the floral notes have stepped up to bat for this one.

This is a nice departure from your stereotypical Earl and I like it!

ingredients: oolong tea, green tea, green rooibos, lemongrass, lemon myrtle, citrus flavor, jasmine blossoms.

Taster’s Review:

I am really enjoying this blend.  I tasted it before I read the ingredient list, and I was happy to see that I could discern them without having read the list.

The Oolong tastes nutty and buttery and has a nice mouthfeel – rich and supple.  The green tea accentuates the buttery taste and lends a certain fresh taste to the cup, as does the green rooibos.  The combination of the Oolong, green tea and green rooibos creates a very full flavor for the palate without being overwhelming or too heavy.

I love the light yet satisfying flavor of this cup.  There is a light lemony note that is accentuated with hints of bergamot, and a very light jasmine note that lingers in the background.  Very refreshing!

Earl Grey Tea from TeaSpree

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  TeaSpree

Product Description:

Ingredients:  organic black tea, bergamot essential oil.

Taster’s Review:

As some of you are probably well aware, I am very fond of Earl Grey tea.  Bergamot is perhaps my favorite tea flavoring … or at the very least, it is in my top three, together with jasmine and chocolate.

This is a very fine Earl Grey from TeaSpree.  Having tried several teas from TeaSpree, that comes as no surprise to me, I have been quite impressed with their offerings!

The black tea is smooth and pleasant.  Brisk, but not overly aggressive, this would make a charming afternoon pick-me-up.  There is very little astringency to the tea – just a bit at the tail of the sip – but not so much that it leaves the tongue feeling overly dry.  No bitterness, in fact, at the point in the sip where I occasionally experience a slight bitter note when sipping black tea, this tea comes off tasting slightly sweet.  It’s a little different, but quite enjoyable, and it nicely accents the bergamot.

The bergamot is not overdone in this tea.  It has a very agreeable level of strength without becoming overwhelming or tasting like it’s overcompensating.  It doesn’t have that fake, chemical aftertaste to it – it just tastes like a sweet, tangy burst of citrus.  Delicious!

While I prefer my Earl Grey without the addition of milk or cream, I know that some of you probably do like it.  I think that this Earl Grey would take very nicely to such an addition.  It is also quite nice straight up!

A high recommendation to all Earl Grey enthusiasts out there!

Earl Grey Vanilla Almond Tea from TeaScapes

Product Description:

Earl Grey Vanilla Almond black loose leaf tea leaves are mixed with almond pieces and vanilla flavoring. The brewed liquor offers a pleasant flavor of bergamot mixed with the nutty tones of almond and creamy undercurrents of vanilla. This loose leaf black tea is perfect for desserts or for just a pure indulgence.

Tasters Review:

This is unlike anything I have EVER smelled in my life!  It’s powerful and has attitude!  And I like that!

The DRY Aroma – I can smell Almond right off the bat!  Right after that scent follows the Earl Grey!  I can smell both – both together and separately!  It’s very intense!  And VERY Unique!

After infusing – the almond tones down quite a bit and the Earl Grey comes thru even more.

The color of the infused liquid is that of a medium brown.

The taste is out of this world!

I can taste the bold black tea wonderfully!  Then I can taste the nicely done Earl Grey flavors and THEN the Almond barges thru!   The vanilla slides in towards the end of the sip and smooths it out pleasantly.

This is such a FUN tea!  I think it’s just GREAT!  I’m very impressed with the aroma, flavors, and creativity of both!   This is a REAL winner!

Cream Earl Grey from TeaFrog

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  TeaFrog

Company Description:

This version of Earl Grey will suit the tastes of both traditional EG drinkers, and those who find bergamot to be too overpowering. Vanilla overtones and a smooth, creamy taste are in the forefront of the flavours of this tea, and while the bergamot is there, it takes a backup role in this fine flavoured black tea. Whether you are a fan of Earl Grey Tea or not, this tea will suit the palate of any discerning tea drinker, and serves well as an after dinner finishing drink or a mid-afternoon “snack”.

Ingredients: Black Tea, Cornflower petals, Natural Flavours

Taster’s Review:

I love Earl Grey tea.  But, I have to tell you that my fondness for Earl Grey started out with a Cream Earl Grey such as this one.  The first time I tasted an Earl Grey tea, I found that the bergamot was a bit overpowering for me – to the point of tasting a bit like perfume (or at least what I imagined perfume would taste like).  After that unpleasant experience, I was quite hesitant to try another Earl Grey.

Then I discovered Cream Earl Grey tea and I quickly fell in love.  So much so that I began blending my own Earl Grey Creme… but that’s another story!

This Cream Earl Grey from TeaFrog is quite good.  I love the way the vanilla flavoring (the “Cream”) mingles with the bergamot and black tea.  Together they create an almost caramel-y taste that lingers well into the finish.

The black tea base is a solid black tea:  strong but not overwhelming, smooth with a bold, bright taste.  It has a medium astringency to it that is somewhat dry.  No bitterness to this tea, though (unless it’s over-steeped that is!)  Just a delicious, well-rounded tea.

The bergamot is significantly softer than you would find in most Earl Grey teas, but that’s because the vanilla cream taste softens it.  I like that it curbs the sharp notes of the bergamot, thereby eliminating that tendency to taste a bit soapy or perfume-ish.  Instead, you just get delicious Earl Grey flavor with a sweet, creamy high note.

This is a really delicious Cream Earl Grey – if you’re like me and rather fond of Earl Grey (or Cream Earl Grey) – this is one you should definitely try.
