Benefits Lemon and Echinacea from Bigelow Tea . . . .

This week, my Health points were hit with a triple whammy: day-after sore muscles from kickboxing, monthlies, and I caught the cold going around, waaaaaaaaaah. Needless to say I busted out my favorite treatments – acetaminophen, zinc and herbal tea lol.

Ordinarily I prefer loose leaf teas, but I do like that this is Bigelow Benefits – lemon echinacea is bagged for convenience on the go. Also, if the herbs are broken up, they’ll release their goodness (or placebo effect) to me faster… right?!?! The brew tasted like a Chord of flavor, Lemongrass provides the main note, then sweet mallow and finally a hint of herbaceousness from the echinacea (which lessens the severity/duration of colds).

Also included: a bit of fennel for tummy relief, Sage as a decongestant, Elderflower for crunchy mom powers, and lemon balm for mental ease. This is still drinkable medicine when brewed with my other go-to tea bag for colds, traditional medicinals “throat coat”.

I’d recommend for cold season and in travel bags, Bring on the wellness!

Taster’s Review:

I have to tell you that I was quite hesitant to try adding one of these little pixies to a glass of water (or bottle of water if you’re on the go!) – so I stashed it away and forgot about it.  But now that I’m trying it I wish I would have tried it way back when I first received it from my SororiTEA Sister!

It’s actually very tasty – not to mention very good for you!

This particular packet is Orange Cream flavored and is very true to the flavor.  It tastes like a creamsicle.  My first impression of it was “Tang” – you know, the breakfast drink mix?  But it has a creamy backdrop to it that is much more like a liquefied dessert confection!

I don’t taste a lot of green tea to this… and my thinking is that this was made more for the person who “doesn’t like green tea but still wants the health benefits from it” than the tea enthusiast.

That being said, I still am quite enjoying this – it has a delicious, refreshing taste to it.  It does have a bit of that “diet drink” kind of taste, and I don’t usually like diet drinks… but, if they tasted like this I’d be more inclined to like them!

And this doesn’t have aspartame in it – which is a big bonus in my book because I can’t consume aspartame.  It has sweetener in it (Sucralose… which is basically splenda), so you don’t need to add anything else to it, and really, it is very sweet and strongly flavored – so I recommend using at least 12 ounces (or even a little more – it’s got a real strong flavor at 12 ounces!)

I also recommend giving it a really good stir (or shake, if you’re adding it to your water bottle) and continue to stir or shake as you drink it, because I did experience some settling of the powder at the bottom of my glass.  I used my frother and it gave it a foamy froth on top.
