Citrus Green Tea from Adagio Teas

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green

Where to Buy:  Adagio Teas

Tea Description:

Green tea from China with the delicate flavors of lemon and lime. The clean vegetal notes of the green tea blend seamlessly with the citrus crispness. Delightfully sweet, lifted by the freshness of the lemon-lime. Not too dry or too citrusy. An Adagio customer favorite, perfect hot or iced.

Please note that this is the description from the Citron Green Tea.  The tea called “Citrus Green” is part of the Sweet Medley Collection.  However, I believe them to be the same tea, except that the Citron Green Tea is the loose leaf version, while the Citrus Green is the bagged (pyramid sachet) version.

Taster’s Review:

This is surprisingly mellow for a citrus flavored green tea.  Normally, I would expect a very bright, vibrant citrus-y tone, but this has more of a serene lemon lime taste, reminding me just a bit of the flat lemon-lime soda that I would have been given as a child when I had an upset stomach.

That is not to say that I do not like this, I’m actually quite enjoying it.  It has a very soothing and refreshing taste to it.  The lemon and lime are sweeter than they are tart, but they do have a little bit of a tang to them.

The flavor of the green tea is equally as mild, with hints of grassy tones but not an overpoweringly vegetative taste.  It has a light, fresh flavor. I guess if I were to offer any sort of complaint about this tea at all, it would be that I would like the green tea flavor to be a bit stronger.

As it is though, I am enjoying it just fine.  It’s a pleasant tea, one that would be nice to have around when I’m wanting something on the light side.

While I enjoyed my cup of this tea hot, I think that this is one of those teas that would make a perfect iced tea because it is so light and refreshing.  Because the flavors of the green tea are so mild, it is one that I think just about anyone can enjoy – even those who aren’t usually fans of green tea.

Cheers!

Krueger’s Kiss Custom Blend from Adagio Teas

Tisane Information:

Leaf Type:  Honeybush & Rooibos

Where to Buy:  Adagio Teas

Tisane Description:

Freddy’s a little creepy, goofy, and nutty – kind of like this blend of Honeybush and Rooibos Flavors.

Taster’s Review:

Over the past week or so, I’ve been trying to focus on some teas that could be considered “romantic” Valentine’s teas.  While I don’t think that I’d want to kiss Mr. Krueger, this custom blend created by my SororiTea Sister, Jennifer aka TeaEqualsBliss, is a delicious alternative to going mouth-to-mouth with Freddy.  It is a blend of Adagio’s honeybush orange, rooibos cinnamon apple, and rooibos almond.

While I am not always particularly fond of rooibos, I do like the combination of rooibos and honeybush together.  Somehow, when blended together, the honeybush softens the tames funky tasting rooibos.  The two taste better together than individually, in my opinion.

The orange flavor is the most distinct note in this cup, but it doesn’t overwhelm.  It is complemented by the apple, which softens the tangy citrus notes, and lends a very smooth sweetness to the cup.

The background is nutty and has a hint of woody undertones.  The nutty flavor is further accentuated by the almond flavor.  While it is not a particularly strong note, the cinnamon gives the overall cup some interest and depth.

A tasty tisane that can be enjoyed any time of day!

Silver Needle from Adagio Teas

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  White

Where to Buy:  Adagio Teas

Product Description:

White tea from China. Silver Needle is among the most revered of Chinese teas, produced in the Fuding and Zhenhe districts of its Fujian province. Gathered only for a few days in early spring, a dedication to perfection is evident in the pale, ivory colored liquor. The lingering fragrance is delicately honeysuckle floral, with a warmed sugar sweetness. Refreshing texture that is soft and airy on the palate. This is a special grade (‘Bai Hao’) version of this exquisite tea.

Taster’s Review:

I enjoy Silver Needle, but not as often as I’d like to.  My favorite time to drink Silver Needle tea is after a meal, because it is very relaxing, and has a sweet taste that helps me forget about that desire for dessert.

This Silver Needle from Adagio’s Artisan Comfort Gourmet Tea Collection makes it possible for me to take Silver Needle with me where ever I go … even when I go out to eat.  The handy-dandy pyramid-style tea bags are very roomy and provide plenty of room for the leaves to expand, thereby allowing the tea to achieve full flavor.  I love the convenience of these Gourmet Tea Collections from Adagio.

This Silver Needle is delicately grassy, with hints of honey-like sweetness and floral tones in the distance.  The mouthfeel is light and silky.  Even though I am drinking this as a hot tea, I can feel it cool my palate.   This makes it the perfect choice after a spicy meal.

I’ve tried this Silver Needle a couple of times now, and this time, I discovered that this is an incredibly forgiving tea – I over-steeped this by several minutes (it steeped about twice as long as it should have!) and it was not bitter.  I will say though, that the longer you steep it, the grassier it tastes.  So, if you prefer your Silver Needle on the not-so-grassy side, don’t forget to set the timer the way I did!  I didn’t mind the grassy undertones, so I didn’t find the over-steeped Silver Needle off-putting.

A very pleasant Silver Needle, and this is a great way to enjoy it where ever you might be!

Wuyi Oolong from Adagio Teas

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Oolong

Where to Buy:  Adagio Teas

Product Description:

Oolong tea from the WuYi mountains in Fujian province, China. A beautifully made, deeply complex tea. The aroma is very rich and savory, roasted vegetables, minerally and earthy. There’s a deep, ripe fruitness in the background, but faintly. The flavor is slightly honey-floral and nutty, white sesame, sweetened burdock root (fans of Japanese sweets, anyone?), barley. Satisfying and hearty, for a tea. Perfect for multiple infusions so you can tease out many layers of intriguing flavor.

Taster’s Review:

I’ve tried several of the teas in the Artisan Comfort Gourmet Tea Collection, and of the ones that I’ve tried thus far, this one is my least favorite.  That’s not to say this is a bad tea, it isn’t.  But when it comes to Oolong teas, I tend to have high expectations and this one just didn’t meet those expectations.

Yes, it’s a pleasant enough tea with a smooth mouthfeel and a sweet, fruity tone in the background that resembles peaches.  It is a very subtle fruit flavor, though, perhaps it is a bit more subtle than I would like.  It is nutty and sweet.  It is slightly tangy toward the end of the sip, and the aftertaste is sweet.

Overall, it’s a satisfying cup of tea – but there are other Wuyi Oolong teas out there that I’ve enjoyed more.  But that doesn’t mean that you won’t like this one better than those others … so I encourage you to give it a try.

Peppermint Tea from Adagio Teas

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Herbal

Where to Buy:  Adagio Teas

Product Description:

A native of the Mediterranean, peppermint leaves were often used to crown luminaries in ancient Greece and Rome. It continues to be revered for its cooling, crisp aroma, deeply refreshing flavor and smooth finish. If you have yet to try gourmet peppermint tea, made from just pure peppermint (no added oils or sweeteners), you’ll be pleasantly surprised by its superior flavor.

Taster’s Review:

You know, when I receive peppermint tea to review, I’m sometimes at a loss on what I should write.  I mean, what do I say?  This is pure peppermint – no oils or other additives.  It is simply crisp, clean, pure peppermint.

Shall I mention it’s soothing properties?  It can help calm an upset stomach and aid with indigestion.  It can even help relieve tension, and it’s naturally caffeine free.

Shall I point out that sipping on this Peppermint Tea from Adagio Teas can help increase your chances at getting that good night kiss?  Think about it:  nobody wants to kiss someone with bad breath.  Better safe than sorry – drink some Peppermint Tea now.

Oh, I know.  How about I mention that this pure Peppermint Tea is delicious.  Even though I’m sipping a hot cup of tea on this rather warm evening, I am finding it to be soothing and cooling.  I feel refreshed as I sip it.  It is a simple tea and as pure as it can be, but that’s just fine with me.
