There are just too many choices sometimes, which can make it difficult to find a quick fix. My body was super ovary-acting this week and I needed something to help me feel better, but I had three different tea bags that all purported the same benefits, what was I to do? A side-by-side comparison, of course!!
I brewed Traditional Medicinals Raspberry Leaf, Yogi Women’s Moon Cycle, and Republic of Tea’s SuperHerb Raspberry Leaf at the same time. They ALL include organic materials, yay!
They claim: Tones uterus to aid in effective contractions. So when we think about toning other muscles … you’re using them in a stronger way, so don’t be surprised if it creates more intense sensations. That’s how it reacts for me, and if given the choice, I’d choose short but intense cramps rather than mild and long-lasting – just to get ’em over with. Yogi’s Women’s Moon Cycle includes several different herbals, the most out of these three samples, and has a medium brew time of 7 minutes. This comes out as cloudy and copper-colored, smelling like a chai, mmmmmm. This has a light, spicy taste, and leaves nothing on the tongue when it finishes. I like this both with and without sweetener.
Republic of Tea’s Organic Raspberry Leaf SuperHerb Tea includes raspberry fruit flavor and rosehips. This had the quickest brew time at 5-7 minutes. It was VERY fruity smelling, making me feel a bit averse to it. Fortunately it had a lighter taste than it’s initial strong smell, but there’s a long aftertaste. And somehow I get a distinct banana taste! A little sweetener tones down the nanners, and wow this might be a nice addition to a smoothie!
Traditional Medicinals is the purist, with only red raspberry leaves inside. They recommend the longest brew time at 10-15 min, but that’s kind of standard for whole leaf tisanes. It’s brassy colored, and smells like a black tea, but with none of the caffeine. This simple flavor would be good if you were feeling nausea. Anecdotally, when I was pregnant, I had doctor’s approval to drink some of this during my third trimester and I went into a nice short 12 hour labor right on my due date! But that could have been from eating dates, or prenatal massage, or typhoon approaching, or Murphy’s law with our schedule, or that I’m Wonder Woman, or just plain dumb luck……. Anyhow, this was my personal favorite of the three.
Each tea offers its own perks, depending on what your personal comfort medicine is, each could be a nice fix.

Green Tea Muscle Recovery from Yogi Tea. . . .
I’ve been a fan of Yogi Tea for years now. I have tried many of their flavors and I’ve loved them all. Natural Grocers is having a sale on their Yogi Teas and I noticed a flavor I haven’t tried. It’s called Green Tea Muscle Recovery. I’ve been having slight shoulder and lower back pain so I figured this couldn’t hurt!
Turmeric is one of the ingredients, and turmeric is a known anti-inflammatory. Lemongrass is the second ingredient after green tea, and it definitely has a citrus-y flavor. I’ve been enjoying it warm in the morning. I swear I feel a little relief after drinking it. I would say it’s probably a great tea to have in the morning before or after a workout. One of my favorite things about Yogi tea is the message that comes on every tag. It’s almost scary how many times my message will be something that I needed to be reminded of in that very moment!
This tea does contain caffeine so be careful about what time of day you drink it. But other than that this is a delicious and healing tea that will definitely be in my tea rotation!

Roasted Dandelion Spice Tea from Yogi Tea. . . . .
I have looked at this tea and passed it by so many times because dandelion tea can be very strong and bitter. But dandelion tea also has amazing health benefits. Natural Grocers has been having a great sale on Yogi teas, so I decided to brave it and give it a try. It’s mixed with spices like cinnamon, clove and ginger and also cocoa shells, kind of a Chai mix.
I brewed my first cup and immediately loved the smell. It smelled nutty and slightly spicy. I added a little raw sugar and a splash of coconut creamer and took my first sip. I was very pleasantly surprised by how delicious this is! It doesn’t have any of the sharp, bitter taste I remember from plain dandelion tea. It has a roasted, nutty flavor with a slight, spicy kick. It’s pretty sweet so it doesn’t need much sweetener. I can definitely see this tea becoming a regular thing for me. When you read about the health benefits of dandelion tea, it’s pretty remarkable.
So far every Yogi tea I’ve tried has been amazing. They use organic ingredients, and compared to other organic teas they aren’t too expensive.
I should also mention that this tea has no caffeine, so it’s safe to drink at any time of the day, and it’s rich enough to help if you’re trying to cut back on coffee.
I feel better since I started drinking this, I feel like it is helping with digestion and I notice a difference in my skin too. I give this tea all the thumbs up!

Chai Rooibos from Yogi Tea. . . . .
I absolutely love Yogi teas. I love the little uplifting messages on the tea bags, and I’ve never had a flavor I haven’t loved. I also love Chai tea. I’ve been cutting back my caffeine intake, with the goal to completely cut it out of my life. I was kind of nervous to try this at first because I don’t always love Rooibos. I usually drink it for the health benefits, but sometimes I find it a little too earthy for me. But Yogi teas were on a great sale at Natural Grocers so I felt brave enough to try this.
What can I say, it was love at first sip! The delicious blend of spices like cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and ginger really stand up and mask the earthiness of the rooibos leaves. It’s spicy, warming and soothing. And the earthiness of the rooibos actually compliments the spices. The tea is a lovely red hue which for some reason made it even more enjoyable to me. The spiciness is there, but not overpowering. I would call this a Chai for beginners. It wouldn’t scare away someone new to Chai.
And because it’s so similar to standard Chai made with black tea, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. And the aromatherapy woke up my senses without the caffeine. I’m very glad I tried this brew, and I will be buying it again and again. It’s a delicious, hearty and warming cup of tea that’s perfect for anytime of the day. Rooibos has so many health benefits such as aiding in digestion, anti aging, and has many minerals including calcium!!

Soothing Rose Hibiscus Skin Detox from Yogi Tea
I have been a fan of Yogi teas for quite awhile. I discovered this skin detox tea a few years ago, and I love it so much. It tastes a little sweet, a little floral-y, and very refreshing. The rose seems to balance out the hibiscus, so there is none of the hibiscus tartness. It tastes delicious hot or iced.
As far as the benefits to the skin, I really do notice that my skin has an extra glow after drinking this. The results are almost immediate. I enjoy the taste and the benefits of this tea. I like to have a cup in the winter, especially if I’ve been out and about on a cold, blustery day and my skin feels damaged and dry from the cold.
If you enjoy Jasmine green tea, you’ll probably really love this delicious blend from Yogi Tea.
